ok..... 2nd Q question....which is better, 5x UR or 10% CB Disc? so many grocery options.....
Personally I value URs at 1.5cpp making 5% back in URs the equivalent of 7.5% back vs 10% CB Disc so personally I would do 10% CB Disc. You need to establish a value for your URs, whether you base that on past redemptions or potential future redemptions is up to you. UR formula from there: Value*5=UR return. Basically, if you value URs at over 2cpp you should do the 5xUR, under that and you should take the cashback. (Keep those "likes" in check and stick to the math ;) )

DH just gave me the go ahead to apply him for the CIC. I think he should be in good shape for it, since he is just 3/24:

Chase Freedom - 12/04/2016
Chase Freedom Unlimited AU - 05/22/2017
Chase Sapphire Preferred - 09/01/2017

I am going to put the same thing that I applied under, which is eBay sales. Any thoughts before I apply? Once he has the card, I was thinking that if the promo is still at $500 in 2 months, then I would apply using his referral. Does that seem reasonable? Thanks!
No referrals right now on CIC, been a long time since they've run on that card I think.

Feeling super pumped today! Final rankings had come out a few weeks back and I finished 2nd in the nation in our segment of commercial banking (which is cool in and of itself) but it comes with a reward valued at $5,000. Well I was told it would be in the form of Mastercard gift cards...So I was thinking we'd have to use these on expenses and it would potentially slow my roll with new cards (not that I'm gonna complain about $5k tho haha). Well they showed up in the mail and they are Mastercard DEBIT cards and I can go to my bank's ATMs and just take out the cash and deposit that in the bank! Wooohoooo!!! That means I get the money AND I can keep putting spend on CCs. Like I said...SUPER pumped! :thumbsup2
Congrats! I need to change careers. I work in healthcare and the last bonus I got was for 10 years of service. It was $100

All this talk of Anaheim and Disneyland I decided to book a Disneyland trip for after the bar exam lol. This would be 18k RR points from the east coast to lax. Then I booked the Fairfield Marriott for 140k points for five nights, but the Sheraton would be 8k SPG points a night so I’m going to look at reviews tonight and maybe I’ll change. The walk looks further than the Marriott, but if I could stay club level and get free quesadillas that may win me over. Anyone have any opinions?
Stayed one night at Fairfield by DL a couple weeks ago. Contrary to many Fairfields it does NOT have breakfast. I knew that going in, my overall impression was it was fine as a place to crash. Hardwood floors which I personally don't like, the hot tub was not working right so that was a huge disappointment to me but that can happen anywhere (made worse by the fact there was no sign or anything, just one jet pushing so strong it could push a person across the small hot tub and the others not working at all- oh, and then there was the light in the spa under the seat which was falling out so that was unnerving and in retrospect probably super unsafe? idk...). Other than that no issues with the hotel. (As long as you don't plan on using the daybed/sofabed/chairbed thing! THAT was the bed from hell and I'm so grateful we didn't plan on anyone sleeping on it.)

Wow, $100?! We get a framed certificate :rotfl2:
Yeah and raises are minuscule. We just got bought out by a non-profit hospital so we’ll see what happens. It may actually benefit me as right now they pay more and get increases for specialty certifications which we have never had. I pay to be certified and get no reimbursement or increased pay. Fingers crossed at least that changes.

Ha! That reminds me - I had a menu of gifts to choose from for my 5 year anniversary with my previous firm (most in the $50-75 range). I chose a basket of fancy (stinky) cheese - thought it was appropriate :rolleyes2.

I got a set of coasters for my 5 year service gift. I mean, I use them, so there's that.

I had an interview recently for a post grad fellowship that is telling me I would need to get a salary from an outside source.

For the first five years with my company, you get a little glass block each year along with a tray to set them on, with the 5 company ideals. That might be nice if I had an actual desk  Right now they're in a drawer. At 5 years you start getting plaques.
Why do they buy that ****? No one really wants it. I have boatloads of useless crap like that. I now refuse it or pitch it. My supervisor doesn’t understand why I don’t want more crap. Recently it was fleece jackets, which would be useful except I have about 10 already (non logo) and DH has more logo clothing from stuff he sells than he should be wearing.

Yaaaaay fellowships :sad2: I've been fortunate in my post-graduation employment, but it was definitely all unpaid internships through law school.

I have never had a paid internship. Not in college or law school. I’m tired of working for free lol. My SO is in software engineering and everything he has had has been paid. I made the wrong career choice.

I just got an email from Chase to use Apple Pay on my FU April 1 through April 30th 5 times and get 1,000 points. Not as good as having Apple Pay being in the 2nd quarter with the Freedom but I will take it!

And @Calfan and @wendow in regard to IHG card (and anyone else thinking about it). Doctor of Credit had a tweet this morning that Chase is matching the 80k offer if you get the card under the 60k offer and secure message them after.
