I love credit cards so much!

I've been reading about the Chase shutdowns :scared1:

I'm curious how all the different */numbers are to be interpreted. I see people mention their */3mos, */6mos, */12 mos and of course, the */24 (which I understand as all personal credit cards you have opened in the last 24 mos from all banks, not just Chase, and a handful of business cards that show up on personal CR's).

For everything other than */24, I don't know if those numbers include all banks, or just Chase. Does it include all biz cards, or just Chase biz cards or no biz cards?

Any clarification? I think I'm pretty low risk right now but I want to make sure I keep it that way.
@Albort really covered the risk that banks are assessing. From a “what cards count” perspective I’d say it’s all cards on you your personal credit report PLUS any Chase Business cards. Chase can only analyze info they know exists so I don’t see how AMEX Biz cards would be part of the analysis. I do think that numerous inquiries (even without the corresponding new accounts) can be bad as it shows a “credit seeking behavior”.

An interesting theory currently circulating is that it does not seem that anybody with a mortgage has been shutdown. Perhaps this is because it’s hard to drop off the grid when you have a mortgage lol.

Also of note, it seems the majority of people get reinstated when they plead their case. This does not appear to be an anti-churning effort whatsoever. This is truly a risk factor.

This is ANY mortgage, correct? Not just a Chase mortgage? BB&T Mortgage here.

Theres a Amex Centurion lounge coming soon according to VFTW. Article says to expect a Plaza Premium Lounge as well which i know the Priority pass includes at the other airports. so maybe?
Wait. I'm confused (what,again?:rotfl2:) I thought if you just had the PP, you couldn't access the Amex lounges? 9I have one at my local airport, but wasn't going to bother trying,as it's an amex lounge and I only have the PP)

So the costco/visa checkout page says it is no longer avail, but the end date is 3/30. I'm confused. It doesn't appear to be necessary to click through a special link. Just buy stuff and checkout with visa checkout using a visa. So think I could still get it?
from what I read everywhere it's till it runs out and it ran out the first day by 4 pm

ok..... 2nd Q question....which is better, 5x UR or 10% CB Disc? so many grocery options.....

I ordered on the second day although it was still live when I started my order. Based on what you are saying I won't get the $50.

No biggie. I only ordered things I would buy anyway and that don't cost extra to be delivered. Still would have been nice to get a $50 discount. I visit Costco often and also use mail order quite often.

Kinda depends on what you'll need soonest but all things equal I'm going for 10% on Discover. This is my only shot at it right now in the first year so I'm trying to maximize it.
If I'm doing the math correctly (and full well I'm probably not cuz I did it quickly) it's $150 to max out Discover but the max UR at 1.5 cpp would be $112.50.

All this talk of Anaheim and Disneyland I decided to book a Disneyland trip for after the bar exam lol. This would be 18k RR points from the east coast to lax. Then I booked the Fairfield Marriott for 140k points for five nights, but the Sheraton would be 8k SPG points a night so I’m going to look at reviews tonight and maybe I’ll change. The walk looks further than the Marriott, but if I could stay club level and get free quesadillas that may win me over. Anyone have any opinions?

I don't have a CF :sad1: but I'd think about your goals... for me, it's minimizing travel expenses, and that's what I put my Discover cb towards too. I look at UR points as being worth 1.5 cents with my CSR, to be conservative, because there is a good chance that I will just book through the portal. The only exception so far has been my Hyatt stay coming up at DLR - I transferred UR and will get 2.2 cpp. My Discover is old, so I'm past the first year match, so just 5% for me. I'd probably go with Discover in your case unless I had a specific reason to build up UR points or I always transferred them out like Calypso. The only time I go UR over Discover is dining... I feel like the 3x UR with CSR vs 5% Discover is close enough :)

Pre-bar AND post-bar vacations? I like your style! :thumbsup2

Ok..... That makes sense, it's only the first year, and I can "apply" my CB to any travel plans....I just don't have a ton of UR,and I like to have them for transferring(guilty as charged,I use them for SWA flights quite a bit) thanks.

We stayed at the Sheraton during our DL trip and really liked it. I paid with points (before you could transfer between SPG and Marriott), so it was a no brainer. We really liked the hotel and I didn't feel like the walk was very far at all. I was an SPG gold member, so we were treated very well.

I enter the digital lottery pretty much any week that I could conceivably drop everything and get to a show. I've never won yet, but wouldn't it be amazing to see Hamilton for $10? Best kind of lottery - free to enter!

I think I will do that when it comes to the Kennedy Center. Right now the tickets available are $625 each. I could get tickets in NYC for $295.

My summer is pretty well mapped out. So, we will keep it as a $10 option, lol!

Whatever works for you in this hobby, right? :) I haven't transferred to SWA because I still have points from getting their cards... but I'd probably think of UR points as 1.6 or 1.7 cents then. It's nice to have lots of UR since they're so flexible!

DH just gave me the go ahead to apply him for the CIC. I think he should be in good shape for it, since he is just 3/24:

Chase Freedom - 12/04/2016
Chase Freedom Unlimited AU - 05/22/2017
Chase Sapphire Preferred - 09/01/2017

I am going to put the same thing that I applied under, which is eBay sales. Any thoughts before I apply? Once he has the card, I was thinking that if the promo is still at $500 in 2 months, then I would apply using his referral. Does that seem reasonable? Thanks!

Can you do both? I'm planning to pick up some Visa gc's with DH's Freedom and use for general spend after I'm done meeting min spend on our new IHG cards. I value 5x UR at 7.5%, which is a decent "discount" on general spending. If you have to choose, I think the 10% cash back is the better deal - unless of course you have something in mind where you can get a ton of value out of your URs (Hyatt?).

Also, does anyone have an end date for the offer or any clue how long this might last?
