I love credit cards so much!

out of curiosity... Am i the only one that does not have a Disney Rewards card?

You are not! I had it in the past but cancelled in favor of my cards that earn miles or flexible points. I find I can charge most things to my room when I am at a Disney resort, so I'd rather get the 3x UR points for travel on my CSR than the Disney rewards.

I hear you! One reason why I'm canceling my Marriott card...this year we're using the free night in Newark prior to our flight to BCN (on points who hoo on BA, traveling in @calypso726 style...) but it was a lesson in creativity to find a use for it. Of course this could be b/c this hobby has turned DH into a hotel snob:rolleyes:

Be careful, it's addicting and can turn one into a plane snob :snooty: *raises hand pointing to myself* and DH didn't earn the nickname "plane princess" for nothing princess:

Anyone actually use the Chase travel Portal to look at or book flights out of the country?
I was looking to maybe transfer points to an airline but noticed even when using miles
I'm getting these crappy fuel surcharges.

When i look through Chase portal they are not there when booking on points. Can this be true?
I tried to call but was put on hold for a while so i will call back later when they aren't busy..

I took a flight to Europe now granted it was a few years ago but don't remember fuel charges
being so high!!

Yes, I have. Last Thanksgiving we flew Delta on a FLL-JFK-KEF round trip flight in first class. Delta wanted 700,000 Sky Pesos for the 2 of us :rotfl: I wouldn't spend even that many Sky Pesos for a flight. So we booked through the UR portal instead and paid with UR points which wound up costing 374,288 UR points total. I always compare the cost of miles vs the cost of paying with points and then make a decision. I just booked my flight out to Antarctica for later this year. There were no AA saver awards so the flight out was 150,000 AA miles each. To pay for the flight with UR points on a $3,484 one way flight would be 232,267 UR points each. So I booked that with miles and the fees were less than $50 per person so that was even better.

Fuel surcharges vary from carrier to carrier and also depend on the destination. BA is notoriously awful for fuel surcharges, taxes and fees on award flight that go to or connect in London. Sometimes there are still fuel surcharges when booking with cash but it is already incorporated into the cash price of the flight. I still fly BA regularly to Europe but always book in first. I look at it as paying less than an economy flight and using the points to get an upgrade to first.

Justifiable homicide???
I think you guys will understand ... my husband got "confused" and has been charging all his food this month on the Chase Freedom and not the CSR. Bye bye BB bonus points. Crying right now.

Cue "Cell Block Tango" music from Chicago ... all together now ...

He had it coming
He had it coming
He only had himself to blame
If you'd have been there
If you'd have heard it
I betcha you would have done the same!

You got me all excited so I googled and don't see where any changes were made for 2018. Boo.

I find this to be super annoying as well....

....so I end up doing this ^^^ and then I get flaming mad when the UR portal wants to charge me twice as much as direct through the airline.
I just looked too. Can't believe it phases out starting out at $80,000 AGI for single filers:(

My highlight of the day came early this morning. (First thing in the morning I check all my cards/charges/points on my phone apps). Bonus points on DH's Amex Delta Platinum Business FINALLY posted. 10 weeks since met minimum spend. 4 live chats. One painful phone call on New Years Eve (because DH had to be there). Nothing worked. Finally tried Twitter despite the fact I am a total newbie at it. Did @AskAmex yesterday morning. The points and $100 credit there less than 24 hours later. So thanks to whomever made the suggestion...the public shaming worked!

LOL! Thanks...DH tried to pull Flight Diva crap on me on our way to AMS this Christmas and I flat out told him "if you don't help me with credit cards, we don't fly business/first on a regular basis." Since he is irrationally terrified of getting (gasp!) one more than his usual 3 credit cards thereby destroying his credit score (in his mind:rolleyes1) he shut up (...disappointingly I might add, I was really hoping he'd get on board-ugh terrible pun-with entering 2 player mode. Drat).

I just posted the following over in r/churning: https://www.reddit.com/r/churning/comments/7vmdqp/daily_discussion_thread_february_06_2018/dtuoum9/ I'm going to post it here too for everybody's benefit. It's some detail regarding Chase Shutdowns that have been reported thus far.

*********************************

I did this awhile back and figured I'd do another quick summary of the shutdown reports for those interested. Last time I provided VERY minimal details so this time I'm going to do a bullet point by user. FYI: It seems having a banking relationship with Chase has no bearing on whether you are shutdown AND whether you are reinstated so I didn't even include that detail as a bullet below. ALSO I didn't include any detail on MS activity as it had no bearing on these shutdown reports (that's not to say you can't be shutdown for MSing but it's not really related to the concern we're discussing here).

You can head to the Shutdown Reports Thread if you want to read these in detail but this just gives a picture of where these are coming from.

Also here are two great discussions on the Chase shutdowns and how you may want to adjust your approach to avoid it:

Well, hopefully what I'm posting here now may help :flower3:

A message to @tink1970 's DH, newbies, other DHs and DWs of the regulars here, the lurkers who swear Dave Ramsey will read this board and drop dead of a stroke and any others who are concerned about their credit score ...

I thought I'd take the opportunity to share a DP with you all. Since 2012 I have picked up anywhere between 5-8 credit cards per year. At the moment, I have 27 credit cards after cancelling 3 or so last month. The screen shot of my credit score below reflects me holding 30 credit cards give or take. You can also see how it has fluctuated for a number of months prior to the current score. When I began this hobby in 2012 my score was in the high 600's to low 700's depending on the bureau. My FICO score has only gone up and stayed up in the 800's. I just took this screen shot a few minutes ago and erased any sensitive information. But you can see from July - December how my score goes up or down as I apply for new cards and cancel others. Hope this helps anyone who may have concerns on how their FICO score will fare.

Love the Dave Ramsey reference! :rotfl:

(ooh and jelly of the FICO, too...)

Same! I LOL'd at that so hubby looked at me funny so I had to show him the post with the picture. It was timely as we were just discussing this morning how hubby didn't realize all the changes in the credit scores and still thought if you had more than 2 or 3 inquiries on your report in a year your score dropped drastically for a while. Between that post and just earlier this evening discussing key posts from the "All my cards" DISChurners on the number of cards you folks have, his mind is boggled :) May have to take a break for a couple days until he recovers.

This is good to show people. I think they also need to understand how credit utilization affects it more than just the hard pulls or new cards. My score has gone up over 50 to a bit over 800 since I opened the Hyatt card in the spring, so in less than a year my score has made a decent jump because of all the new credit I've added.

:rotfl2: Everyone will want to be your BFF now. I'll kick off the bribery- uh, friendliness-, first round of drinks at our DIS Churners meet-up will be on me! :rotfl2::rotfl2:

wearing it loud and proud! :D

I went to apply for the amex spg business and I pulled a 100k platinum offer. I have to do it right? Right? But that annual fee. And I don’t use Uber.

Why amex why? I had a plan!

How'd you pull it? I have tried the tricks and can't get it to pop up. It has been a month though...maybe I will try again.
