When you think you closed your Barclay Aviator in July, are ready to re-apply after waiting 6 months, double check the records right before putting the app in... and find out you actually closed the card at the very end of SEPT! Dangnabit! (Also- this is just another example that proves excel sheets and copious notes are very important!!!)

Rant warning! I chatted Amex to get a tracking number on my SPG biz card that is supposed to arrive by tomorrow (3rd business day) and was told it would be 7-10 business days as it had to be sent via USPS. I said I was counting on paying bills later this week with that card since the online application said 2-3 business days. They said to call this number for expediting it so I called and was told 1) this is a first/new card so it has to be sent via usps (despite me having a personal amex, but this is my first biz amex) 2) it should arrive tomorrow or the next day because it was sent out on 1/12 and 3) it would be 7-10 business days until I get it because it had to be shipped usps being the first amex card. I literally can't make sense of any of it and the person on the phone couldn't even pretend he understood the conflicting things his system was telling him. Really amex?! Really?! Why can everyone under the sun expedite Amex cards except for me? (and apparently @elgerber because they too are waiting their card to come via USPS...)

I'm also waiting for mine and I keep telling my kids "no we can't go shopping until the new credit card gets here." I'm not sure how much longer that's going to last, I have an impatient 11yo lol I'm trying to hold off on as much shopping as I possibly can so I can meet that spend.

Hi all! Trying to get up to speed with the gift of college gift cards. I have been saving regularly from my paycheck into my 529 plan but thinking of a way to use GOC gift cards to accomplish the same thing but gather points.

I see they are now at both Toys R Us and Best Buy(at least google thinks they are at BB). Has anyone had issues using their CC to buy the gift card? I think I am going to start with a small one and see how it works. Any tips I should know? Thanks in advance

Gift of College confirmed on Twitter on 01/05/18 that they are still working on getting their GCs in Best Buy stores - they are not available there yet.

We have a daughter that started college in the fall and I setup one up for her. I had to start from scratch since our current 529 plan wasn't on there. It did take awhile to setup the 529 plan and then for the GOC funds to show up in the 529. I had it take as long as 20 days to show up in the 529. You also have to have the funds in there for a certain amount of time before withdrawing. I started with a $25 card to start. Paying the $5.95 on $25 hurt, but I wanted to make sure it all worked before adding $500 at a time. We live in GA and are able to deduct up to $4000 from our state taxes for deposits in the GA 529 plan, so see if there is something similar in your state. I have never had any trouble using my credit card to buy the GOC gift card. Good Luck!!

Thanks to SW points, just booked flights to Cancun for our end of school vacation in June. Now I just need the rest of my SW points to post so I can add my son as my companion. And still need to look for an AI Resort.

As much as we have good luck with SW, I am very frustrated with them at the moment for my missing 1/1/18 and they refuse to do anything about it. I have used Twitter, FB and email and get the same lame 30 day and holiday excuse. Which is utterly ridiculous since my points from 1/3 have posted. Pretty sure their system lost 1/1 since many others seem to be missing them also.

Random silly question. I was getting my new flight time confirmed and noticed that I somehow booked the ticket under my correct name but with MRS instead of MS. I'm guessing since there's no documentation anywhere that it won't matter right? I think the only reason it's even there is for DR's and because I'm sure at some point they didn't ask if you were male or female when booking a ticket. Or women went by Mrs George Smith.

I would never max out the categories on the one freedom but could use the 1.5% on the other. I feel like it's such a waste when I'm at 3/24 with them April (hyatt), Aug (alaska) and Nov (csr) but with only one UR earner and all these deals on the freedom's lately I feel like I'm missing out on a lot. Now if Best Buy actually had GOC that I could use to pay my student loan I would feel even worse but since they don't yet I have nothing to spend $400 on there. But major FOMO.

Fine print says earn an extra 9% cash back on up to $400 in purchases at Beat Buy when you check out with your Chase Freedom using Chase Pay. So does this stack with Freedom’s mobile wallet category (for up to 14x)? Or do we make sure to use up the $1,500 first?
