Oops! Disney Cruise Line!

Some folks are. After getting the CSR (which I always intended to keep) I product changed my CSP to the CFU. I did want a CFU card but and I am waaaay over 5/24 and would not have been approved. However, I was unwilling to go 11 months with not applying for any cards to fall under 5/24 for the CFU. Therefore product changing the CSP which I did not need to keep since I got the CSR was the best way to allow me to have the card.

I honestly don't know as I never checked.

Mine posted right after the statement closed and I'd made the spend.

Sorry, I'm not familiar with this acronym. Did you mean DCL Disney Cruise Line or DVC Disney Vacation Club. Just want to make sure I am answering the question you are asking. :flower3:[/QUOT

I wanted to follow up on my post from this weekend a few pages back. I've been so busy and this thread so active that I can't even find it right now! At any rate, applied for Ink Preferred this weekend. Got 30 day message. Monday I couldn't let it go and did a secure message to Chase telling them I was fine with moving credit from the Reserve and Disney to the Ink if it meant we would get approved. Yesterday they secured messaged back that were approved with a $22,000 credit limit (and didn't take any credit from the other cards). So thanks again and reiteration to everyone to not freak out if you don't get immediate approval.

Question! I have about 2k left on my car loan (0%) and was thinking about paying it off just to pay it off (I hate loans). Could I put the payout on my new CSP (if it ever gets here!) to help make spend? Is that weird?

Oh ok @Kbmas0n, gotcha. I have a DVA account that I fund with Disney gift cards. I use a shopping portal to get to BJs or Sam's online in order to earn an additional mile per dollar and purchase discounted Disney gift cards. When the Freedom was at 5x for wholesale clubs I used that one to pay for the purchase. Getting 5% off the purchase price of the DGC, plus 5x UR points and 1 AA mile/$ was awesome. If the Freedom 5x is grocery stores then we get them there. If the Freedom 5x bonus category has no stores that sell Disney gift cards then we will use the Ink to buy them at an office supply store. I keep an eye on Amex offers too. Last year there was an Amex offer at Sam's to get 20% off purchases up to $250 off. I had already maxed out the Freedom 5x so going for $250 in savings was a no brainer.

If I have to choose between 5% off or 5x UR points then I will choose the points. On a $10,000 ABD trip to London/Paris in 2014, 5% off would have saved me $500 which would not have been able to purchase a flight in economy to Europe. 50,000 UR points transferred to United got me back home from Paris in first class and that ticket was priced at well over $7,000.

All Disney gift cards are loaded to the DVA. If the account has been open for 120 days then you will get a $20 DGC for every $1,000 you use to pay for your Disney vacation. Hope this helps.

you could... but is it worth it? not really.
plastiq, 2.5% fee. unless ur still making minimum spendings. There is no way to do this without a fee.
Visa GC --> MO --> Bank --> pay off.

Amex SPG business - 5K bonus when transferring 20K SPG points to over 30 airlines. Used for purchases when Amex extended warranty is needed.

Just wanted to let you know that the 5k bonus for transferring 20k SPG isn't a feature of the card. I cancelled my card over 2 years ago and I still get the same 5k bonus when I transfer points.

You also get the exact same purchase protection from your Amex Everyday card.

Though I am pretty loyal to SPG (I stay at SPG unless not available, then I do Marriott), I realized that I earned better rewards with other cards so I product changed my SPG to the Amex Everyday after they upped the SPG annual fee to $95. I like that the Everyday let's me transfer MR points to travel partners.

The only real benefit I see to the SPG card is getting 2 nights towards elite status each year, but you seem to have SPG Gold with your Amex Platinum, so it would matter less for you.

:worried: Applied for SW business, (using my rental income for business) and combined mine and my husbands income for the personal income. Received the we need to review your request a little longer will contact me by mail within 30 days.

Applied for the SW personal, using only my income and received the same message. Whoa is me sad am I :worried:

Maybe it's just me but it feels a bit like a kick in the gut, rejection s***s.
Odd to me, I think it may have something to do with the glitch in Chase's system when I applied, but anyway, I was approved for the SW Business. I'm really happy about that because it's my 1st business account. I was denied immediately (applied the 18th and the letter is dated the 19th) for SW Personal. The letter indicates "Too many requests for credit or opened accounts with us". I'm going to call them today but the only card I have with them is CSR which I received in Sept. I have not applied for any other CC other than the SW on the 18th, but did close on my house the 1st week of March and that is with Chase also. Hopefully I can get it reconsidered. Can anyone tell me what the start date is for the not more than 2 applications in 30 days rule? Would it be the initial app date or the recon date (or the approved date)?

In my post I mentioned that I only carry the Chase UR cards and Amex SPG in my wallet, meaning they are the ones I put spend on. Perhaps I should have clarified a bit more. I value SPG points but if I had to rely on paid stays to earn them, I'd never get any. Therefore, I rely on the SPG card spend to get SPG points. No SPG card means no SPG points accrual for me. That is why I keep the card. It allows me to accumulate points that I value. This is also why I would use the SPG card over the Everyday card when I need Amex protection. I would rather earn SPG points over MR points. They are more valuable to me.

Much more understandable. I stay at SPG hotels for work a lot, so I accrue points pretty quickly. I agree that the SPG points are much more valuable than MR. I don't use my Amex cards much for spend, but I do find the Amex offers to be very valuable. I used 2x Royal Caribbean Amex offers to book shore excursions for my May cruise and saved $200 (25% discount) on something that normally isn't possible to get a discount on or even to pay with points. Pretty great.

Has anyone been to Rome? Where should I stay with two free reward nights. I was looking into the Hyatt, Hilton, or Marriot cards.

I never would have thought to use the SM system for that! (And congrats!)

WSJ has an article saying Amex will up their sign on bonus for the Platinum card to 60,000 to compete with CSR. Minimum spend will be $5K in three months plus the annual fee was raised to $550. I think I'll stick with my csr:)

Right?! If it wasn't for Amex I wouldn't love my Chase cards so much!
Rant warning: Let's see for the extra fee you get... $200 uber -jk $15/month- credit, $200 airline -jk airline "incidentals" on one airline picked ahead of time- credit, 5x on hotels- jk 5x only if you book through Amex Travel, & Centurion lounge access -I'll give Amex that one! Those lounges ARE better than PP lounges, unless you travel with more than 3 people. And don't even get me started on redeeming Amex Rewards points vs UR points!

Getting a business CC is a pain for us but if Chase puts out a 100,000 offer on their Ink Preferred card I'd make the switch from Amex for my business too. A girl can dream right?

For anyone who is interested this offer is now live on their website.

Does anyone pay their taxes to meet a minimum spend? Dh just got approved for the Ink preferred ( he hasn't even gotten the card yet). We have $5000 in state and federal taxes to pay and wondering if there is opportunity here. I know there's some fee associated with doing so......around 2% ???? Any advice? TIA

2% isnt too bad. most places charges 2.5-3%. There are other ways to hit the bonus without fees if you have money to float around. 1) You can prepay a lot of your bills. 2) you can open bank accounts that allows Credit Card funding(just make sure your cash advance is at $0). 3) u can get gift cards.

$100 for 80k points isnt too bad... im currently paying a little less than $.01 per UR point right now... lol.

how much do u put on your SPG? My problem with SPG is the earning power, it only has a 5x on starwood booking. If you calculate that to points, would you say earning 1x actually earn more than 1x due to the value? how much do u value the 1SPG point? 3x?(to marriott). Ive been sitting on this for awhile, im a bit scared of Amex's FR since i dont have much income(poor college student). Cant MS it cuz that will trigger FR.

There's still an incognito offer out there for 75,000 MR Points with $5k/3 months spend. There's some speculation that with Amex raising the standard offer (and annual fee), we might see a higher incognito offer soon. Don't let Amex lowball you on a once per lifetime signup bonus, even if Amex claims to have just raised it.

Got a nice offer today in my email for the Southwest plus card: 50k points after 2k spend and additional 100 southwest gift card after 1st purchase. $69 annual fee as always.
I might bite on this one!
