I don't understand what you mean. Please explain :)

There are 3 credit bureaus in the US. Each Creditor(aka Chase) would pull from one of them, not all. Therefore, your 5/24 is based off of that report. Usually when one reports the others will also receive the info, but from what i can tell, it doesnt. so 5/24 is based of one report. Unfortunately, Chase pulls from experian, which credit karma only shows equifax and Transunion. Then it comes to the states, certain states will pull a certain report for some reason. I know in cali, Chase will pull for experian... in another state, it could pull from another credit bureau. highly ymmv. At least, thats is what i believe works.

Oh, ok, I see what you are saying. I looked at my credit karma report and I did notice that a card I opened in the last 24 mos was missing off their list. I couldn't figure out why. And the CSR, which I just opened a week ago, was not showing either but maybe it is still too new. I guess I need to get a copy of the Experian report and then I'd have everything.

Thanks for your help.

based on your profile, you live in Colorado. DP shows Experian x 6, and TransUnion 2. 1 reports it pulled from both Experian and TransUnion...

Got my notice from UPS My Choice that my card is scheduled for delivery today. WOW! That was fast. I just applied and was approved on Sunday afternoon!! Are they back to sending out the metal cards or still plastic? Not that it really matters, but just curious. I'm all set to hit my minimum spend and get those bonus miles credited. :cool1:

I wasn't approved instantly for CSR :( Not happy about that. ANy idea how long they take to review an application?

The last time I let it ride without calling recon was for the IHG which does not fall under the 5/24 rule. It was about 23 or 24 days before I saw the card in my online account and knew it was approved.

Mine came late last week and is plastic. However, in reading online, it appears others are now getting metal.

Call recon ASAP. Also, the nicer you are (without sounding fake) to the recon agents the higher likelihood they'll push an approval recommendation up the ladder.

I agree with this 100%. In the span of two weeks, I was denied twice and called three times before I was approved. Each time I made sure I was friendly, not defensive and eager to work with them to figure out how to make this work.

My ingredients for a recon call:

1 big smile so I sound more cheerful while talking on the phone.

A dash of small talk with the analyst peppered with humor if possible to make them smile too.

A list of valid reasons for why I need a 9th (or whatever number) Chase card that include all the long term benefits and no mention of the bonus.

A list of my available credit lines on each Chase card so I know what I can move from where to open the card. $10,000 is needed to open the CSR.

Failing the option to move credit, knowledge of which card I am willing to close should I have no choice.

I'd advise for those who are close to or at 5/24, a list of any AU cards and store that shouldn't count depending on the mood of the analyst.

Ready to HUCA if I don't like the way the call goes with the analyst.

Good luck!

I could use some advice. Normally I do not carry a credit card balance but some medical bills came up and now I have a balance on my SW CC of about $3200. My interest rate is 16% and I'm paying it down aggressively. I don't know if its worth it to transfer the balance to another card or not. We love SW and fly them at least once a year, but I'm also wondering if there is a better and more flexible reward card out there. Or I'm also considering cancelling my SW card and waiting until I can sign up again to get the 50k bonus.

I guess my question is, is it worth it to transfer my balance?

Checking Credit Karma is a really good idea. My score was nice and high but I discovered that the limit on a card I got from my CU and never use had been raised from $2k to $25k! That doesn't look good when applying for new cards.

I would. See if you have a credit card from another issuer that is offering a balance transfer for a year or more with 0% interest and a 2% or 3% fee. You will pay less out of pocket that way. If you love SW then your better more flexible card would be the Chase Sapphire Preferred or Reserve cards.

Increased lines of credit don't hurt your score they help it by lowering your overall utilization ratio. If someone regularly spends $1,000 per month and their credit limit is $2,000, their utilization ratio is 50% which will lower their score. Ideal utilization is 30% or less. If that person is given a credit line increase on that card to $10,000 their utilization ratio is down to 10% which will increase their score. The two heaviest weighted factors on the FICO score are paying on time and utilization.

Calypso, are you in the business? You are a font of information.

I still canceled the card. Mostly because I don't know where it is.

You could go with a 0% balance transfer card like the Chase Slate card and pay minimum until ur able to pay it off. Another card you can consider is the Chase Freedom. it does come with a 5% balance transfer but its 0% APR for the first 15 months. $160 transfer fee is a lot though, but at least that card will collect UR points. when your ready, apply for a premium card and you will be able to transfer all your UR points from the Freedom card to SW. Thats probably what i would do, open Freedom card to pay everything onto that, then pay minimum to take advantage of the 0% APR, hit your SW CC has quickly as you can.

The SW CC is a Chase card though and I thought you couldn't do a balance transfer from one Chase to another? Or am I understanding that incorrectly?

i dont think that is an issue... :\ i could be wrong. sorry!
Credit card usually remain independent of each other, but tied to a name. i would think it wouldnt since they could be making 5% for u to transfer from one chase to another, haha. You should pay it off and put all your charges to the Freedom card!
