I love credit cards so much!

I'm not much help when it comes to the SW cards, but I wanted to clarify about the CIP.

The Chase Ink Preferred ("CIP") will not earn 5x UR on AT&T (Internet, cable and phone services) or gift card purchases. It will earn you 3x UR on your AT&T bill when paid directly and on the gift card apps I mentioned upthread (Gyft and Swych) when checking out via PayPal with CIP as the payment method, but not at office supply stores. It will get you a 80k UR signup bonus, and potentially 20k UR when you refer someone! The CIP carries a $95 AF, not waived the first year.

The Chase Ink Cash ("CIC") earns 5x UR on internet, cable and phone services (e.g. AT&T) and at office supply stores (where you can buy gift cards) up to $25,000 spent, and 2x UR at gas stations and restaurants up to $25,000. It also earns 5x UR on Gyft and Swych using PayPal checkout. However, the CIC has only a 30k UR signup bonus, and currently no ability to refer. The CIC does not have an AF.

A lot of us would recommend going for the CIP for the signup bonus, then product changing after a year (or thereabouts) to the CIC for the bonus categories and no AF.

Thanks for clarifying, as I got those mixed up. The 80K signup bonus is definitely worth it. Appreciate the input.

Is there a place where I can post a referral link for the Chase Freedom? I can get $100 cash back for every person I refer up to $500 and they get a $150 bonus after spending $500.
Disboards does not allow posting referrals. We have started a private Reddit group where DISers can support others ;) To join the group you can PM me and/or @Albort with your Reddit username. Please don't take this the wrong way, but keep in mind most people using links here are choosing to support active commenters who they find helpful. People are free to use whoever's link they want and it isn't random (just throwing all of that out there :)). We are happy to have you join though!

I'm getting our new SoCal plans settled this morning. My other idea for our Thursday was the Queen Mary in Long Beach. We stayed on it two summers ago but due to some other things on the trip, we didn't get as much time to see the ship as we had planned.

So we're going to fly into LAX for about 1400 points less than San Diego. I can get a car rental from LAX for $150-$200 less than one from San Diego was. We're going to stay on the Queen Mary that night. It's coming up on third party sites and the UR portal as $127, which is pretty low compared to usual. I'd use the Hotels.com gift card but that's the one third party site saying it's sold out, of course, so I'm using UR points (8398). It's a refundable rate though, so I'll probably keep an eye on it in case it opens up on Hotels.com and then I can use up my gift card, but for now we'll say that this is covered by maxing three cards with the BB Chase Pay promo :)

So we'll hang out on the ship Thursday morning/early afternoon before heading to Fallbrook for the wedding activities. This was part of why we decided not to do DLR this day, besides the fact that it works out perfectly to see the QM again. Even though it was only $30 more total to add another day at the parks, we aren't sure if we will be asked to get to Fallbrook earlier to help out with things, so we were looking at 6 hours max in the parks, and less if we needed to get there earlier. Also, I feel like I've read there's a Disney outlet or two in the LA area? Maybe I can talk DH into stopping... Does anyone know anything about that or if it's worth it? Going to use the Hotels.com gc for the hotel, a fancy Econolodge that is next door to the wedding venue.

Wedding is Friday night, nothing is going on for it Saturday morning, so we'll head up to DLR. Check into the Hyatt House (12k points per night, transferred from UR) and head to the parks. I bought our tickets last night at around 11pm, so I saved $40 on 4 day PHs. I added MaxPass, hopefully that was a good use of my Chase Pay GCs :confused3 I was feeling a bit of FOMO in the moment. It's been almost two years since we've been to DLR, so it will be interesting to see changes and how SW is coming along. Then we've got a flight out of SNA late on Tuesday :sad1: I picked this flight up for only 3730 RR points, and plan on ubering to SNA. BIL and fiance had plans to weekend in Vegas after wedding because their Hawaii honeymoon isn't until this summer, but that might be falling through so they might join us at DLR for the weekend. I think I might look for some Just Married buttons on ebay if they do :)
You'll love MP!!

Getting ready to buy our DL tix since prices are going up. I have about $650'ish in rewards on my arrival+ that I think I can use to buy two of the tickets, right? Do I just pay for them and them request the money back?

Does anyone know is aRes travel codes as travel? I think people have confirmed LMT club does, right?

Hmm, the Queen Mary sounds like fun! May have to look into that for our trip this summer. You are probably making a wise decision with not adding another DLR day. You just never know with family and a wedding how much you will be needed ahead of time.

apparently, Biz cards dont follow that rule and you can PC it whenever u want.

Thanks great memory. So I also have the sw bus. What’s the possibility that I can get approved for the CIC? Feel like I’m missing out on so many rewards for all our grocery and gas spend. (Giant, Harris teeter, Trader Joe’s, bjs are the stores most shipped at) ( bjs, wawa, shell are mostly where we get gas)

I would wait to close the sw cards closer to June when the annual fee will hit that’s way you can tell them it’s Bc you don’t want the fee. I think closing now will look like you just wanted the bonus. How long have you had the csp? You can secure message to product change or call.
I opened the CSP in April of 2017. Can I still transfer UR points to DH's CSR with a CFU?

Checking in from the Palazzo and I think we just found our new place to stay in Vegas. I used 60,000ihg points from the increased sign up bonus on the ihg card that came out last year. Our suite is 750 sq ft which is half the size of our house.

This has to be one of my best redemptions to date as rates are over $300 a night. This place is total luxury and I’m so happy to see where points can take me. We were upgraded to strip view because of my Platinum status with ihg by virtue of having the ihg credit card.

I ADORE that hotel too! DH and I used our free night there last fall. We didn't want to leave the room!!!!

I'm not familiar with who codes as travel, but with the arrival after the charge posts you go in to the website section about using your miles and apply them towards it.

Exactly! I think the QM is really neat. They have some neat exhibits with things from the era and what the staterooms would have looked li ke, from what I recall. Part of the engine room is open, if that's something you guys would be interested in. It's all art deco style, and if you're a hotel guest you can sit up on the decks at night with a beverage of your choice you brought along ;) They also have tours that we missed last year, so I'm going to prioritize that this time.

Also the USS Iowa battleship is across the bay. Also neat to see. I'm not as in to it as DH and his dad/brother, but I still find it interesting so I enjoyed it too.

Question for you all - has anyone ever booked one of the Westin deals received through email and sat through the timeshare presentation? I received an email for the Westin Kierland Villas in Scottsdale for 4 nights for $299 plus 5K SPG points if you sit through the presentation. We already have a trip to AZ planned and have a Hilton booked on points but with this we could save the Hilton points for later. We're just wonder how painful the presentation might be. Anyone experienced it or read any reviews about it?

Thanks!

Quick CIP question-

About to make largish purchase at target.com

Do I remember CIP gives 3x for PayPal checkout or is that only for the gift card sites? I am trying to decided if I go CIP to meet min spend/UR points or save 5% with my redbird.

DH currently has Chase Ink Preferred and Chase Freedom. We typically move any UR points from his account to my CSR. If he closes the Ink Preferred, will his UR access disappear, or will we still be able to transfer from his Freedom to my CSR?

We had been keeping his Ink Preferred open due to the cell phone coverage, but after reading someone's post (can't recall who but THANK YOU!) from a few days back, I realized that I won't be covered charging my phone bill to his Ink card. So anyway, there is really no need to keep his Ink Preferred open. But I don't want to lose UR access . . .

The MPX is my new favorite toy! I can't thank @Lain enough :worship: for pointing me in the right direction and the write up on the Dischurner thread! DH sends his thanks too

Mine, too and I also have to thank @Lain for clueing me into its benefits...I so enjoy using it especially with shopping portals. We rack up miles in dog food purchases at Petco every 2 weeks and this week I was able to get the extra Valentine's Day AA bonus. Whoo hoo!

We transfer from Freedom to CSR (have done it from dh's Freedom to my CSR-before we closed it).

it needs to go through a gift card site, ie gyft.com.

why dont you PC your Ink Preferred to a Ink Cash?

Yes as long as you have not already transferred UR points to someone else in the household. Haze only allows you to transfer UR points to one member of your household.

Thanks!

We are sitting through one in Hawaii this September. They offered 5 nights for $600~ plus a rental car, 5,000 AA miles and a resort credit. The Westin property is about $500 - $600 a night so we weren’t going to pass it up. Our timeshare presentation is scheduled for snack in the middle of our stay. It’s supposed to be 90 minutes. I’m going to check out the TUG (timeshare users group) forum to see if there are any posts on what to expect. I can post back here once we’ve gone but I’m not sure if that will be before or after your trip and of any help by that time. So, I will suggest checking out TUG to see if there is any feedback on the presentation. Hope that helps.

why dont you PC your Ink Preferred to a Ink Cash?

I thought about having him do that, but I was thinking that he needed one of the premium "fee" cards in order to access UR. Why was I thinking that (I can never remember the rules - need to go back and look)? If we can transfer from his Freedom directly to my CSR, then is there any reason for him to PC down to the Ink Cash? I already have an Ink Cash - don't think we both need one. I'm wondering if he should just cancel his Ink Preferred - especially since I want him to apply for SW Business at some point in the next 6-12 months.

The only reason you need a premium UR card is to use the points in the UR travel site. If you don't have a premium card, they can only be taken as cash back but as long as you have a premium card, he can transfer them to your premium card.

At least that is my understanding of the Chase rules!!
