I love credit cards so much!

The paypal is for a (almost embarrassed to say, due to the amount) a Puppy. The deposit went to the Breeders name, but that was from my balance, not with a credit card, so I am not sure what it would show.

heh, the last dog i had was like $1200. pure breed Pomeranian. Id totally pay that price for another one.

I would think so too -- it's not like I can take my Gift of College card into a store and use it as a cash equivalent.

Is there any way to tell from the on-line account whether AmEx gets level 3 data? How do people figure that out?

yes, you can tell if Amex has level 3 data. It will appear on your posted account.

i believe this is level 1 data. ($1000 vgc+fee)

ive never actually seen a level3, but i was told that it would actually list it out like on your receipt.

Anyway to get the SPG 30k incognito offer and also support a DIS'er? I think I am pretty sure of the answer but just want to make sure before I apply...

yes thank you for posting! @peel I stopped and got one today.... this is great! And I used chase pay in store for the first time...very easy!

Always jealous of someone who can use a CC to get a GC at ShopRite... I haven't found on yet that allows it around me :( Only got to use the AmEx offer once because we were busy with the holidays and had a hard time getting a shopping trip over $75 there. We split shopping between ShopRite and Acme since the Acme is closer and does the gas rewards now. Acme just kept having better deals. I even stopped in a new (to me) ShopRite to see about picking up some GC's and they too only took Debit or Cash for GC's. Enjoy it!

I did three separate chats weekly in December. And then we called between Christmas and New Years. They say the offer is on the account. They even acknowledge that I have met the spending. The online chats ended with them stating it was up for review. The phone call was more than a little frustrating. He just read the fine print of every offer that it is up to the discretion of Amex and that it can take 6 to 8 weeks to post and that I should not expect it until mid February! When I made the argument that such a slow posting has not been mine or anyone else’s experience with Amex and that I was frustrated and disappointed with the whole process he was not at all sympathetic. When I brought up again that the $100 had not posted after Delta ticket purchases in middle of October he was like “yeah that is the same deal as the bonus miles.”

I am a Twitter novice...I joined for the contests (Marriott) and then follow some stuff but never post. That might be a good idea to figure out how to do though. The stupid part is I would like to get an SPG business before it goes away but right now I am pretty bitter with Amex and their customer service.

Not the same situation, but I also chatted with AmEx about an offer of MR points that didn't post when the charge hit and they did the same fine print BS about 6-8 weeks. I pointed out that none of my other offers have done that he said he'd open a inquiry/ticket (forget what he said) for review, gave me a number and said I'd hear in 5 business days. Well never heard anything, got busy, was going to call them up to complain when the points magically posted in last couple days of Dec. I think it was 2 days after the 8 week mark from end of the promotion. So I guess occasionally it does indeed take all that time for some offers.

I'm expecting my new AmEx Gold Business card in the mail any day now (thanks for everyone's help with that!) and will need to get busy meeting the minimum spend. I'd like to put anything I possibly can on this card so I can meet the minimum quickly and move on to get another card. I have a few questions about how best to do this.

I planned on buying a bunch of Disney gift cards, but apparently those wouldn't count toward the minimum spend. What about if I bought them off eBay? Would charges to eBay for gift cards count toward the minimum? Is it even safe to buy gift cards from eBay?

If there's no way for me to buy Disney gift cards with the AmEx it's going to be much harder for me to meet the minimum spend, so I may need to get creative. I'm wondering if there is anything I can "prepay" that will count toward the minimum. Taxes? Utilities? We always choose a medical plan with a large deductible because we don't generally have much need for health care. Could I go ahead and pay our doctor/dentist toward that deductible and have a credit with them?

I will have a tuition payment to make soon. It's not much since I'm only responsible for 10% of my total tuition, but I think it should be around $700. The only problem is that the university now charges 2.5% on credit card transactions. That's not too much so I'll probably go ahead and do it, but I'm wondering in the future when there is a fee for credit card transactions if it's worth it to use the credit card anyway. I'm not sure how to calculate this.

So, my main question is: can I buy Disney gift cards on eBay with an AmEx Business card and have it count toward my minimum spend? And I am also looking for any ways I might not have thought of to meet the minimum.

It's kinda crazy--I know our household spends a ton of money on an annual basis; it seems like it should be so easy to put $5000 of that in 3 months toward the minimum spend!

Oooh, good question. No, I haven't. Only Stop and Shop since that's my regular grocery store.
I never even considered they might not..... that seems odd but I had no issue yesterday!

You could buy a gift card for gas station. I bought a Costco Gift card, so I can essentially use Discover there when they only take Visa
how? I'm forgetting something here obviously, can you use other forms of payment for a gc?

WARNING< WARNING!
...I bought my MacBook on Black Friday thru Best Buy b/c of the shopping portal reward instead of B&H, even though B&H was a better price (no tax) . It was to make Best Buy the best net deal. WELL, I didn't get the shopping points because apple is excluded in the tiny print. GGRRRR. I was so annoyed.

ETA: I did get some Best Buy rewards tho. I don't know much about them, but I got an email saying I had some dollar amount and I used them to order my DD a new charger for her MacBook.
Thanks! I had checked Apple but not Best Buy, and now that you've mentioned it I remember seeing that a couple months ago when I was going through the portal for a different purchase. So Best Buy is out as an option.

Amex SPG Biz....do they allow gc purchases (like at the grocery store,3rd party) to count as part of the minimum spend? @gottalovepluto my favorite use for SPG is staying at Swolphin when we do Disney.... I use other brands for other places but I usually save those just for that.

There's a lot of ideas for minimum spend here: https://millionmilesecrets.com/2011...ur-credit-card-minimum-spending-requirements/

I wouldn't pay the credit card fee unless you're working towards a minimum spend, unless the regular rewards outweigh the fee. Like some people have charged mortgage payments through Plastiq and had it code as travel, so though they paid the 2.5% or 2.7% fee, they earned 3x UR points. That's been cut a lot, but I haven't kept up a ton because I don't have a mortgage.

I threw a few prepaid Visas in with my groceries on my SPG Biz during minimum spend, when my store had the $10 off them coupons. You would probably be fine putting them in with groceries and such, AMEX doesn't like obvious GC purchases (especially prepaid Visas, etc).

Others have lots more info.

I bought a GC off Raise, and threw a couple prepaid Visas in with my groceries during my minimum spend. I just didn't want to have any $XX5.95 charges on my card.

I am all good with Disney Gift cards myself for this year, but would that poster have a problem ordering Disney cards on BJ's or something? Does AMEX know what that purchase is? I have done that with an AMEX personal to meet a spend with no problem. Is biz different?

If you order a Costco gift card or Cash card online, you can use other cards than Visa. My son did that to meet a minimum spend with a MasterCard.
whaaaaaaat?????:cool1: I was just irritated at Costco yesterday b/c I couldn't use my m/c instore..... Thank you! I know what I need to do now lol
...Oh! Wanted to post that I SM'ed Chase for Ds's CSR, he had no choice but to call,I wrote out a small script for him to follow:rotfl: and it took less than 5 minutes to PC! Whew....I don't know why I was stressing so much....he was listening to the speil of what he was going to 'lose' from the card...when he hung up he said, "wow, I felt like I was losing a lot there,it made me want to keep it!":rotfl2: But I reassured him we still have another one lol
BTW the traffic on this thread is amazingly fast... I can barely keep up!

Alright so i got the CIC for DH's newly incorporated business. He already had the CIP and since I still have to enter his social assuming you can't have the same card twice.

I'm debating if our next move is to go ahead and get the spg cards we don't have. I have the personal, but we could get bus 2xs, and DH a personal. I signed up 2 springs ago when it was a 35k sign on. I've done some research but I still would hate to go ahead and then they raise the offers in the spring. Aghhh...

Also, app rules for amex 1/5, etc... are those for just amex cards or for all cards like chase's 5/24 rule?
Q: when did he get CIP & when did he get CIC? (Helping someone who got CIP in Aug try to get CIC but they got denied for not have CIP long enough. It's weird, they even have a Chase Biz Banker who is confused as to what happened.)

The AMEX gift card "horror stories" are related to buying Visa Gift Cards (VGCs). I have purchased what is probably thousands of dollars of Gift Cards such as Target, Kohls, Disney, etc at a grocery store using AMEX over the past year and had no issues. AMEX is looking for abuses of the system where somebody is buying "cash-like" equivalents. My opinion is that you'll be fine to buy your Disney Gift Cards. It's always good to pause and ask though!

Thanks everyone! Maybe I'll just add the gift cards cards one or two at a time into grocery store and office supply store purchases and hope they go undetected, and watch and see if the points register on my account.
