Hilton bonus points....any info on the ETA for those? in the past I saw points basically the minute I hit MSR- this time, nothing yet. I did the referral for DH with the basic hilton card so 20k for my acct and 100k for his acct, hit spend a few days back, nothing yet? should I be concerned?
Mine hit within a couple days of making spend...on both our cards.

Among other things, DH got me the travel bag from eBags I've been looking at for a year. It has the steel straps, etc so it will be great for Europe. I will try it out next month on our Disney cruise.
@disneymagicgirl Looking forward to your trip report. I'm excited about my first Disney cruise.

This reminds me, I wanted to thank @calypso726 for suggesting those luggage bungee things. I ordered 2 on amazon before our trip and they were so awesome for attaching smaller bags to our larger bags, making our oodles of luggage much easier to haul around!

@GlamMistress, your cruise will be amazing. When do you sail? I really think our flaws this time were just a matter of circumstance. I expect our next sailing to be back to normal. :)

Well, that is probably way more than anyone wanted to know. :rotfl:Happy to help others plan and answer questions though!

I have been scouring youTube as we prepare for our first cruise on the Dream in March. I love to hear everyones views on different things along with tips and tricks. Thanks for the update! Sorry it wasn't up to what you had hoped for. I will be bummed if we miss CC for sure!

Ok so I haven't been keeping up with this thread well at all and had a quick question. I know you can no longer get the SW bonus on two personal cards but I am understanding that you can apply for one personal and one business card and still earn the CP that way...is that correct?

You'll probably get to CC fine. I think it was the time of year. We have made it to CC all 4 of our other sailings. Happy planning!

That is correct. And I believe there is some info on dischurners (if it is still an option) to do 2 personals on back to back days. Double check and make sure that is still valid or just go with the biz/personal option.

Do you shop at Staples? We don't. They closed both locations within 20 mins so we have to drive 30+ mins in either direction to get to a Staples. I just never seem to make the time to actually get to Staples. I wonder if my lack of Staples purchases precluded us from receiving the offer...? We have made one purchase in the last 2-3 years at Staples and I used an Amex offer.

I think the Staples (and all other offers) are just random. I have it on my CSR and Freedom. P2 on Freedom. I never shop there only one within driving distance is still an hour away. I think it is worth it to just order online and just calculate the fee as part of it. Hopefully will stack. I will probably just get $100 cards on each and hope for best.

@disneymagicgirl no matter what you got to enjoy your 3 year old. I would think that makes it all worth it. Although your talk of sickness and bad weather reinforces my idea that there are not any cruises in our future. It is just not my thing.

YES, that def made it worth it!
The seas really were shockingly rough. Never had that before. I even woke up in the middle of the night nauseated several times. :worried:

@afan or anyone else that knows about Seattle area. Would you stay for 7 nights in the Bellevue area? Looking to use our 7 night cert and they have a lot of Cat 4 in that area. I have zero idea what to do around there, we like hiking and outdoorsy stuff plus walking around Seattle itself and seeing the sights. Just one of my many ideas to use this cert up. Would we regret spending 7 nights in that area?

I wouldn't. I'm guessing it's downtown Bellevue which aside from the mall and lincoln center, both of which skew higher end, there won't be anything to do or possibly eat at aftet 5. People mostly go downtown for work or the mall. And the traffic any direction but east out of there in the am will be horrible and all directions in the evening. You'd have to drive or take a metro bus into Seattle, both of which would take awhile depending on the time of day\day of the week. Weekends are bad too but not as bad but tend to have some traffic all day vs only rush hour.

It gives you close access to snoqualmie falls and that area which has some hiking as well, but you're better off doing a split stay like @Albort did if you want to do more than just seattle. The traffic here just doesn't make it feasible to do it all from any one spot.

Now if you want to wait 5 years or however long until the lightrail is in place from Bellevue to seattle then it'd be ok to do, but I'm sure that's not a good plan either. Our traffic and public transit suck and they are, at great cost, trying to fix it
But I can still drive to seattle quicker than the lightrail gets me there.

I just realized we didn't use our $100 credit from the Amex Gold DH opened in November. Will it be too late to get a gift card and have it credit this calendar year? We will be using it for checked bags on Alaska in 2019. Can't believe I procrastinated this long!

I'm trying to figure out the proper amounts to buy to max some of these out.... on a couple of cards I have the staples 30% and the 10%(gonna give this a try at around $65 as noted in the article I guess- how do I easily caluclate the percentages?
Finally my BS in Applied Math is useful (actually very helpful in becoming an actuary). Take the limit ($19) and divide by the % off (.30) and you get the max to buy. It is actually 63.33333 but really hard to buy a gift card in that amount :P. Weird that they picked that limit. I just went to staples and they were out of the variable home depot cards. I was going to get 2 $60 cards. I did two $75 purchases - $50 Home Depot x2; $25 panera; $25 CVS.

We don’t normally but I’d be there for 30% to use on gcs. Our staples isn’t very far away, maybe 20 minutes?
