You can do both! Lots of our friends had a couple kiddos biologically and then adopted more. I actually have one friend who did it the opposite than people normally do. She adopted 4 first and then had two more biological. Adoption is still something we may consider as well :)
That’s definitely an option. I only want two kids so I guess we’ll see what we decide.

Travel goals
May trip to Colorado Springs. Already booked with Marriott N&F cert and RR points on SW.
July trip to Seattle. Trying to book as much with points - will have 2 free certs (1 IHG and 1 Marriott). Flights on SW on points

Quoting myself to update travel plans. In August will be in San Diego for a work conference. I was looking and just decided to add on a few days. Last time I was in San Diego, I took the Amtrak to Anaheim and went to DL. The train ride took about the same time as driving. It goes right up the coast so very pretty trip. I didn't need a car at DL as I was staying right across the street offsite. I've been to San Diego several times for work and have stayed on Coronado, seen the zoo, sea world, Old Town, Balboa Park... so looking for something else.

Too many NPs to cross off the bucket list to take another trip to DL so I was going to look at Joshua Tree but ave temp is 100 in August. I would melt :D.
Someone suggested Monterey Bay, though it looks expensive to stay there. Glancing east there is Kings Canyon and Sequoia NP. Drive up there, 2-3 days in the park, maybe one day in Monterey Bay for the fisherman's wharf and/or aquarium and then stay in San Jose where I'll fly out of. Work will cover flights and hotel in SD (Sheraton Marina). So I just will pay for rental car and hotels in Sequoia and San Jose. One of the lodges was on Chase portal so booked that on points. John Muir Lodge wasn't so OOP. In San Jose, found a cheap Fairfield Inn by the airport that was only $110, better deal then Chase portal or Marriott points (25K!)

I'm intrigued, may I ask why? I actually have not scheduled trips that stop there due to the cultural tradition with which I disagree (not to be political or divisive-I just...can't. Of course I'm also the person who can't stand zoos or aquariums so I'm a weirdo!). What about them is #1? Truly curious and hopefully you know me (on line) enough to know I'm not being judgey!

It was so gorgeous in the distance when we were in Ireland, I did a lot of research and it was briefly on a Life List for me...until I read how steep the stairs were and realized my running injury couldn't tolerate it. Hopefully it will re-open to tourists but apparently many (American) tourists who weren't aware the ADA doesn't apply to the EU would try to climb and be disappointed; I know there were some deaths as well but don't know what the circumstances were.

Totally relate! We are T-36 hours from my BA jammies and I am so excited:hyper:.

You have some awesome trips for 2019!

Re the Faroes... the vistas! I’ve been to many of the remote Britis Isles (St. Kilda x 2, Orkneys x4, the Shetlands, etc. and the Faroes are reputed to be the most beautiful. When the Lord of the Rings movies first came out, the SF Chronicle had an article about how they’d inspired Tolkien and I was sold. The tradition you are referring to is why we suspect DCL took it off the schedule. Not very family friendly!

Re St. Michael, I heard it was because too many Star Wars tourist were damaging the fragile geology. Disappointing but I totally get it.

It’s definitely going to be a fun but busy travel year.

I'm jealous that You get to Maui so often..... that 12+ hours on a plane has me holding off on more plans for now

Yes, that’s a long way compared to our 4-5, but Maui is such a happy place for me—actually for the entire family. The set up we have there is pretty awesome so we try to go a lot. Calfan and I just had a fun couples weekend with our husbands a couple weeks ago, and I already want to go back!

I’m very glad my parents adopted because otherwise who knows where I would be. I have an amazing family and wouldn’t ask for it to be any other way. I was dead set on adopting for awhile but Dh convinced me to try first.

Adoption is the best, so glad yours worked out well for you. Our daughter’s birth mom had a morning after pill in hand and chose not to do it and carry her baby to term and give it up for adoption. She’s the unsung hero in our situation that many don’t ever think about. How different our life could have been.

Our oldest is biological. I certainly understand the desire to have a biological child, that’s a huge deal for many, many people. But with 400k domestic children in foster care, I wish more people would choose to have one only bio and adopt the rest.

Wow we must’ve seen different movies lol jk. It’s interesting how we can have such varying opinions on a movie. I’m one of those people that loves the twilight saga and I’m sure there are people that think similar thoughts about my taste in those movies.
I loooove Twilight! The books especially but also the movies. The first movie was really bad though IMO LOL

I'll be interested in your thoughts once you return--I know you've been to Iceland, Norway and the remote Scottish Islands so hopefully you'll write up a report and let us know.

Such a shame about St. Michael but I understand as well. It's an amazing historical artifact but sometimes limits have to be placed to protect things.

Andy...just saw your mods choice on r/churning. I’m not even sure what to say, you are a remarkable guy - I can’t put myself in your shoes but I’m so truly sorry for the trials you’ve endured. I wish you and your family a wonderful Christmas and so truly appreciate your advice. I will hug those close to me tight today and cherish the special moments!!

Just checked my dh’s chase account and he was approved for the second biz!!!! CP here we come!!

They must be on a roll! I've been checking on my DH's application for over a week (he applied two weeks ago and I forgot to lift our freeze), and his just showed up, too!!! Yay! Companion Pass here we come, assuming the 50k miles post correctly on the priority.

I definitely will. I think I've hit about 20 of the British Isles so far, and on this trip I'll get to quite a few more (crossing fingers on weather).

Just an FYI to anyone buying gift cards for Amex offers: I redeemed the White House Black Market $30 off $100 via buying a $100 egift card online on the WHBM website, where I also qualified for an extra $20 bonus egift card.

There were no gift card exclusions in the description and today the $30 has credited to my account.

edit: I forgot to mention that when it posted as cashstar I was a bit worried I wouldn't get the offer credit.

I have to go check my offers. I can’t remember if I have this one or not but love their clothes (and shoes.)

I had it on my SPG for the cash back and as MR's on my other cards.

I have always bought their outlet clothes, which are different from their boutique clothes. I go into the boutique every now and then and look at what they have, but when I go to their outlets I always find tops, dresses and skirts and slacks that I want! I've never bought the shoes.

I decided to go for the SW biz for dh...got this message:

Thank you for your request.

We need to review your request a little longer. We will let you know of our decision as soon as possible.

Thank you for choosing the Southwest Rapid Rewards Premier Business Credit Card.

No, 7-10, 2 weeks or 30 days given. What does this message mean?

ETA: Dh is 3/24 and CS is 800+. 1/30, 2/24 with Chase.

ETA2: Automated line says 30 days...

I applied for the SW Biz for DH a couple of hours ago and got the same response. Crossing fingers it will turn into an approval. Going to force myself not to call the automated status line until Wed.

Just checked my dh’s chase account and he was approved for the second biz!!!! CP here we come!!

Woo hoo! I *might* let myself check DH's online Chase biz account from time to time before I start calling the status line, lol.

This is how we do our sling too. Just for football season lol!

We've had Sling continuously for a while now so we can get the Pac-12 Networks for Cal football and basketball. But this year we plan to cancel it after basketball season and re-up when football season starts. At least it earns 5x on the CIC! We also plan to add HBO when the new GOT season starts and then cancel after the season.

Me too! I although I did find a gorgeous dress on the sale rack of the regular store in the fall. And I resisted the urge to shop yesterday at the Hershey Outlets. They (and MK) have terrific heels that I like for work.

Wow, just read it too. So sorry @Andysol for your loss, I can not imagine. I do appreciate your tremendous gratitude in you what you have been given, that is not always easy to see when you have such a great loss. It is so true, more so on Reddit than here, that we often don't think about the actual person behind the posting. I think we have formed some great online friendships on this thread and I do feel like I know some of you, though apparently may never get to actually meet some of you (@SouthFayetteFan haha) . Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to everyone of my friends reading this!

Lol they’re all pretty bad if we’re being honest with ourselves. I loved all of the books but eclipse was my least favorite. I actually like the first movie the best.
