I love credit cards so much!

Today turned out to be a great day.... I was not excited about having to pay $450 for a rental car for our San Diego Christmas trip. I just logged in and saw that I had 20K points pending on my CIP + 10K pending on CSP. AND then I checked and the rental cars were 36K points! Free rental car! I was also able to get free Sea World tickets earlier this year (DH is a vet). And I was able to renew our super old San Diego Zoo memberships for only $250. This trip will cost us $250 + food! yay. San Diego will be our 4th free trip this year! On Sunday DH and I are flying to WDW, staying 1 night at Hyatt, then staying at Contemporary Resort and going to DAH, all free.

The Amex Gold gives 20% back on dining, but only up to $100. This is in addition to the $10 each month at a few specific restaurants and Grub Hub. Here's a quote from their page:

Indulge your taste buds then let us pick up the tip. How? It’s simple: use The Gold Card at U.S. restaurants during the first 3 months of Card membership and receive 20% back as a statement credit, up to $100 per Card account. This made-for-foodies offer is only available to new Card Members approved before January 9, 2019.
Oh, dang it. I should've figured that would be too easy.
:offtopic:For those with kids around 11, do you do clothes as gifts for Christmas? We've never done them as gifts for DS, although I buy plenty around the holidays, since he needs them anyhow. But with the tree going to look very sparse this year, I thought maybe I should wrap his new UA and Vineyard Vines items and put them around the tree??? But then there's the dilemma that his current sweatshirts and shirts are looking pretty small at the moment and he could probably use them now. I am blaming my VV AmEx offers for this pickle :) Next year we won't have this issue as much since he'll be required to wear a uniform and won't need as many casual/school clothes.

My boys are 8 & 10. I give them new PJs every Christmas Eve to open. Otherwise, no clothes. We don't buy them much of anything other than bdays and Christmas, so I only give wants for gifts, no needs. I consider clothes a need...even if they are name brand. :)

I'm going to book a rental car through Chase URs... any bad experiences out there? It's a good deal at Thrifty... anything I should be worried about? Should I pay all of it with UR points or part of it with CSP or CIP?
I had a great experience with Thrifty using URs. No issues, used all points (no cash).

Thanks! I wasn't expecting anyone to have any meaningful odds, but was hoping to hear someone being able to pull it up again after losing it. Doesn't seem like that's likely though. I guess I'll hold off anyway and see, since I'm committed to a $5k msr for the arrival+ already. I'm not confident in meeting $10k. Just having a case of the FOMO again...
I do think we’ve had people here see it go away and return. :)

I can’t remember who, and it feels like more of us never saw it again than did lol.

First Xmas as a single mom. You can bet the underwear I just bought and the clothes my kids need will be under the tree. Luckily I know my 9yo will be over the moon as he's been asking for this underwear. Plus both kids are in the $$$ gift bracket now. So that puts more under the tree.

Well DH can't take off the extra day to do Uni or Disney prior to our cruise this month. So, that helped in that I didn't have to make a decision.
I got our flight changed to Fri pm and booked a rental van to go to port since it was cheap. $91 instead of the $175 it would cost for DCL transfers.
So then I needed Hyatt MCO. We arrive at 9:15pm. Well, we need 2 rooms (12k Hyatt points each so 24k URs) or a junior suite. There ended up not being 2 rooms avail on points, so I went with the junior suite through the UR portal for 24,222 URs (of course they had the price jacked up some). I just double checked and I could switch it to amex portal MRs for 47k. Is that better?
Alternatively, we could just drive to port or somewhere on the way to port and stay using marriott or hilton points, or transfer UR to a diff Hyatt. Any thoughts on how to get the cost of the Hyatt MCO down or thoughts on driving to port at 10pm (9pm our time)?

Oh, and alot of people on our cruise started getting room assignments yesterday and today. Still nothing for us yet. The anticipation is killing me!

Can anyone chime in....

I have the HH Ascend Amex (personal). I got it back when the offer was 1 free award night annually. In October I got my award night. Since I got in when this was the offer, can I assume as long as I have the card I get this award night annually? Is there a way on my account to see this?

I'm asking because I was thinking of cancelling and getting the business one instead. But now I might earn on the business one and close it at the year mark.

So, as I posted yesterday, I was approved yesterday for a CIP. I SM'd as soon as I found out I was approved to have it expedited, and it arrived this afternoon! 24 hrs later, crazy. The reason I had it expedited was because DH's tuition is due and I wanted to put it on a new card. We had been waiting for 2 WEEKS for the IHG card to show up after approval. It also happened to show up today in the regular mail.

Chase Freedom 5% Chase Pay help please! I JUST downloaded the chase pay app. I’m planning to buy discounted gift cards at Target on Sunday. If I use my ChasePay App (linked to Chase Freedom) at the Target register in-store, will I get 5% cash back on my target gift card purchase? Do I just present the bar code to to cashier and they scan it? Thank you!

Target doesn’t accept ChasePay. I wish!!!

!!!!! Ok your post made me go look....I got this....
You've been specially invited to refer up to two friends to apply for a pre-approved offer for the Hilton Honors Card. Note: approval is not guaranteed.

You can earn 20,000 Hilton Honors Bonus Points when a friend is approved for a Hilton Honors Card, up to 80,000 bonus points for referrals in a year. Plus, your friend can earn 100,000 bonus points after they spend $1,000 in purchases on their new Card in the first three months of Card Membership.
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So.....now what is the thinking on this? I got the offer, I could refer Dh and get that deal (OMG 1k/100k points!) BUT we already both have the full complement of Hh cards and their bonuses- is this going to work? will he(we) get the deal and bonus if he's already done this Before?
So...DH HAD the basic Hh- upgraded to ascend a few months back. Does this mean we should try it, and he'll get the popup if he doesn't qualify?

Unfortunately Chase Pay is limited in what retailers it works at directly, Target is not one of them. However, they have partnered with Samsung Pay and you can link the two together if you have a Samsung phone. If you do, then you can use the Samsung Pay at Target to get the Chase Pay bonus (confusing? totally, but it works) Otherwise I don't see how you can work that.

Boo! Thanks for letting me know! Last year I got 5% back with my Discover it at Target which was awesome! Any idea how I can get that extra 5% back on my Target gift card purchase? I have Discover, Citi, and chase Freedom. Our should I just settle for 1.5% back?

Disneyland Hotel Jan-May 2019 FYI: DLH partial pool closures through May 2019. Guests are being offered access to the PPH slide.
1/7/19-Mar 2019 everything except the e-ticket pool will be closed (this includes slides and spas)
Mar-early May 2019 monorail pool and slides closed

Losing spa access is a killer for my fam and I know that the monorail pool is a huge feature for those with kids :( More discussion here https://www.disboards.com/threads/disneyland-hotel-pool-unavailable.3722215/#post-60001381

Wow! Even expedited it took what seemed like forever (and was in reality over a week) to get the CIP in the mail. Glad you didn't have the same experience.
