I love credit cards so much!

OT but today I learned how expendive ADHD meds can be. DS was just prescribed vyvanse and it’s $294/month at Costco:( Luckily we got one month free.

Does the manufacturer have a prescription card? One of my kids is on an expensive medication and using the card brings our cost down tremendously. Sam's won't take the card though, so we have to get at Target/CVS.

Just saw the Target commercial during the ABC Disney Christmas special. It sounds like you get 10% off Target Gift Cards right now....so can you buy a $100 Target gift card using your Red Card for $90, then use that $100 gift card to buy a $100 Disney gift card? Saving 10% would be better than the usual 5% with the Target Red Card.

:offtopic: I did my 7th refare today on our NCL Bliss cruise. Every time I think this might be the lowest, I must grab it. Saved over $1800 for 2 cabins so far. Which is awesome, but part of me wonders if that means we overpaid to start with? I think I'm too used to DCL prices to know what's a good price anymore. The refares are kind of a pain. I used to e-mail my TA, but then she left the agency and they didn't assign me a new TA, so now I call. I wonder who gets the commission? Usually I have to follow-up. Like today, she said she'll call me back and then doesn't. Will have to follow-up again tomorrow. The best was the guy last time, did it all while I was on the phone and sent the revised invoice right away. Wish I remembered his name, would ask to move the booking under him. Oh well, the agency rate is about 10% off the base fare, so I'll deal. :)

You can’t buy Disney GC with Target GC anymore. That ended a while ago.

Target stopped allowing using a Target GC to buy a Disney GC unfortunately.

I don’t think you can use target gcs to buy other gift cards. We’ve tried and they wouldn’t let us online or in the store

Where are you headed?

I am new to this, My credit score is 700 right now, and I just got the Uber Visa and American Express Blue Everyday Preferred very recently, my other cards are Discover It and Capital One... So, no Chase for me for awhile..... So I am planning a cruise to Alaska in 2020, probably Princess Cruise, and then we will cruise on Carnival next year. Plus I want to go to Scotland and Ireland in the next few years, and New Zealand eventually, So I need a good travel card that is not Chase right now..... P2 is working on his credit, paying off an old debt and waiting for it to clear, should be over 700 soon..... so maybe he can get a Chase.... But need some advice, which card would be best? I don't want to get the wrong card at the wrong time, but maybe I have already.. Going to Disney in 9 days!! I can't wait!!!
thanks for the help!! Love you Guy!!

Also just to be clear, they are only 10% off on Sunday and you can’t use them until after 10am on Monday.

Finally caught up after being at a two day workshop for work. Love reading everyone's stories about their churning pasts! Mine is short, as I just started putting my toe in the churning waters in July. I started Disboards last August and paid special attention to the gift card thread. I peeked in here once or twice but had no idea what yall were talking about, so didn't stick around! After our trip, I stayed away due to post Disney depression haha. Then this summer, we decided to book Disney again for May 2019. Back to the Dis I came, and mourned the loss of Target and Best Buy GC to Disney GC. Since I had time to plan the trip, I decided to come here and read over the last several pages and I've been hooked ever since! Between me and DH, we have opened 4 cards since July (2 biz, 2 personal) and scouting out the next. We had 2 CFs with some URs when we opened CSP for me and CSR for DH. In a matter of 2 months, I was able to use URs for WDW tix and half of our split stay before URs for Disney went away. Now I am in accumulation mode and loving all of the advice given here! Finance and travel are my passions so travel hacking is a dream come true for me!

DISNEY WORLD TICKETS AVAILABLE THROUGH CHASE SAPPHIRE RESERVE PORTAL (EXPEDIA)...

Per This comment on Reddit:
https://www.reddit.com/r/churning/comments/a0ienq/daily_discussion_thread_november_26_2018/eaj8yuf/
I am using the Sapphire Reserve. This is how it came up, was looking for Universal Orlando and just stumbled on it.
In the UR portal -> "Things to do"
Put in Orlando, FL with some dates.. I put February 2019
Click on "universal orlando"
Scroll all the way to the bottom and you see "People who looked at "Universal Orlando™ T..." also viewed"
"Walt Disney World Theme Park Tickets"
It doesn't appear to be in the main list of activities, you have to look for something else then it appears at the bottom.
EDIT: With the same trick, appears Disneyland is there too. Just pick Anaheim, then Legoland.. Disneyland is there at the bottom! Disneyland also has no cancellation fee!

I also verified this and I can see them...very strange and almost feels like a glitch...Proceed with caution I guess...Seems like they ONLY have tickets with the "flexible" option so they will cost more than date specific tickets.

I am obviously several days behind but wouldn't you know I just bought our tickets today on the wdw website for our Jan trip and now I am reading this. sigh.

In other news, after 7 weeks and not 1 but 2 hard pulls on my TU, I am now the proud owner of an Alaska Air Business Card DENIAL letter!!

I have mixed emotions on this one. On one hand this is my first denial in 20 years, that I recall. I'm a little put out but I knew it wasn't a slam dunk either so I'm not heartbroken. On the other hand, and this probably the reason I'm not totally heartbroken on it, I was kinda hoping not to get it since we changed our plans and we didn't actually need it. (If it showed up I had a use for it though) I'm more ticked that it took them so long (and pulled my credit twice!) as I was holding off doing some bank bonuses that could be used towards MSR just in case.

For those wondering, the reasons I got were -
There is insufficient information on the business bureau. (yep, "business" :p)
You have sufficient credit with us and/or our affiliates.

The last one is fair enough but I'd argue that it's all personal credit and not business credit. But they gave me a decent line on my NCL card and I barely use it. The last statement I think was a $1.67 or something stupid like that. I only use it for BoA offers and when I can book them, I'll put my cruise excursions and tips on it to top up my OBC balance. After that it may never get used again as I'd rather have 3 UR than 3 WorldPoints. My older card is actually sitting in the safe and has 17 WP from last year or the year before when I put a single charge on it to keep it from being cancelled. So yeah, personally I'm not using your stuff but business wise I might, how would you know? ;)
(nah, they know, earn and burn :) )

Have you tried Food Lion? I just recently bought a few there, but I only do one swipe as that seems to raise the alarms (pretty much everywhere now). Fee is only 46 cents.
Thanks I haven’t checked them out but this is now on my list. It’s a bit of a hike from me but hopefully I can hit a few places in one trip to make it worth it.

Busy week for me as well so I just got on tonight for the first time since late last night. From page 3110 to 3123. I started to worry. Thank heavens it was churning stories which is fun and not bad news like the August 2018 weekend blood bath which was Chase and no more UR’s!

Wandering around going through homework and backpacks and reading everyone’s stories it took me a bit to get through and a chance to think about where I am at in this crazy credit card journey.

My first credit card for travel was 2008 a Gold Delta Amex. I got that because we went to DC with my parents and while flights cost DH and I $1k they were free with them because they used “skymiles.” A practical person I remember thinking “I need those!”

My oldest was born in 2006 and second in 2008 so I was a little slow to get going even after that. I do remember looking at Disney in 2009 with a new baby and thinking if I could get to Florida and not pay out of pocket it is all cheap! (That is when economic downturn and all the incentives). Now in hindsight I wish we had just taken a loan or something and bought DVC then. Both government jobs so stable and it was all a good deal.

I started slowly gathering cards more around 2011 once there was going to be 5 of us to try to buy tickets etc for. i started reading blogs etc and my first card was a Disney (that whole promise of “free dining” advance notice) and then stupidly a Southwest. Stupid because I ddin’t research it much and didn’t realize that Southwest does not work well to got to MCO when you are a Delta hostage. It was not until I even started reading all this that I could get P2 on board and get cards for him or that I could have more than one of the Delta cards. Still chasing those elusive skymiles...

About 2012 I got the Barclaycard Arrival Plus and cancelled it maybe 2 years later. I for the most part just keep cards as it is the only one (since I now have it again) that I have “churned.”

Seriously started to get into the hobby when Reserve opened in August of 2016. I was following this thread lurking and then also Points Guy etc. Some stupid mistakes on way (i.e. got Hyatt thinking it didn’t count at all for 5/24, not getting business cards when we actually had legitimate big money business expenses for my husband). But for the most part as someone who kind of muddles through and probably considers and thinks about it too long and too much I think I have done okay. We have taken probably 6 WDW trips that there is no way we could have taken without this credit card game. For me, that is a lot and huge. (YES we are going to WDW again...I like it!). Longer term plans are that I still need to go somewhere out of the country for simple reason is that last time we went was 6 years ago to Iceland. I was so stupid even then I just used my credit union Visa and paid a ton of foreign transaction fees. (@platamama Iceland is where you should go for the Northern lights).

As said above that is why doing all this is so awesome and why this Dischurners community is great. This thread is the only thread/social media I follow on a day to day basis. It is so helpful, entertaining, no stupid questions or people and everyone supports each other and their plans and needs. :)

It’s with Wyndham. I’ll let him know to look into it.

Wyndham actually has its own program called Ovation. If your maintenance fees are up to date and it is a timeshare they might want to resell, some owners have gotten up to 3 years points to turn back to Wyndham.
Another option is on TUG2 (timeshare users group). He can list it in the marketplace or the bargain deals. Wyndham definitely doesn’t hold its value like DVC.

I'm trying to share but also make my story short. I have had an AA card for years, and have been able to get tickets to Hawaii and Europe in first class over the years. DH discovered the AMEX Plat when we were planning that overseas trip a number of years ago, and we used it for pretty much everything from that point on, which got us tickets to Hawaii in coach and this summer business class tickets to Europe. I stumbled on this thread when I did a Google search for award tickets but didn't have time to really start reading it until this summer. Thanks to all of you we now have quite a few new cards. Our goal is really to fund some unspecified "nice" trips, flights and hotels, since we won't fly overseas in coach at this point and really appreciate staying in really, really nice hotels.

No MS, and not much in the way of GCs here. But I am learning so much and even if we are on a slower path we still have so many more points than we ever did before.

ETA - it took a few years of organic spending to get enough miles for 3 J class tickets to Europe using MRs, and we pretty much depleted the account. Thanks to you all because, with your patience, advice, and guidance we now have more MRs than we did when we bought those tickets. All in 6 months.
