I love credit cards so much!

I'm talking about the support links for the no fee Disney. I'm not sure there is one for the Premier, if you check out the Chase RAF page they only lists one Disney card
https://creditcards.chase.com/refer-a-friend

I couldn't even find the page. Thanks for the link. Since the Premier has a $250 statement credit (on the Disney website), I'd probably just apply for that straight up if I could.

Yeah, that's much less work and probably why they don't need people promoting it :)

I know my mom's husband succumbed to the pressure every time and had more points than they actually needed. When he passed away, my mom got rid of it since she no longer wanted to travel. She said the points got her to Hawaii (after DH and I bought their airline tickets) and several other places so she had been happy with it at the time. And my brother bought at the one in Orlando and, of course, no longer have a need for it since they moved to Orlando. So they pay for points they never use.
Why doesn’t your brother rent his week or points, however that works with Wyndham?

My Marriott personal card has its anniversary on Dec 25. Just got the email 'alerting' me that I will get my free night deposited 6-8 weeks after my anniversary date. So, sometime in February? I'll be watching for this one after our discussion about the Amex SPG free night. Seems to me that this is following the Amex formula? Maybe it's Marriott driven?

For my Chase IHG free night, it drops into my account right on my anniversary as do my Radisson/Club Carlson points.

Someone had mentioned that the Chase Marriott night came closer to their anniversary.

I had some idea that I could use that night in January 2019. Wasn't depending on it, but looks like it won't be available in time. It's no biggie for me as I'm keeping the card and will definitely use the night.

I think I received a similar email from my R-C but it actually posted early this month (a month before my AF) so hard to say. I know I received my Marriott free night way before 6-8 weeks but that was a few months ago. Think it'll take a few more DPs to determine whether Marriott is driving this or if it's an Amex quirk.

Got my first Gold Card rebate for dining out! $4.29 for spending $21.xx at Taco Bell! So I checked my Panera purchase of the lunch and gift card. It's details say Food and Beverage so I'm wondering if I'll get 20% back on that $58.xx. I need to still do my $10 deal for Cheesecake or Shake Shack so I might just run out tomorrow and do that. Wonder if it will credit twice if I do two purchases? Like 2 of the $25 gift cards? Doesn't CCF have a special going on now for a free slice with $25?

I think Chase always had that language too but I thought it was something like up to 6-8 weeks. I know the last two years it's dropped into the account on Dec 1 and was good Dec 1 - Dec 1. AFAIK that's the anniversary month, but it's not my card so I never paid real close attention to it before. I just figured out where to spend it and left all the rest up to him. So I'm counting on it showing up Dec 1 again and I'll just see what happens this weekend. Will report back next week :)

Yes, I agree. I'm going to try to watch for when it comes.

I’m wondering the same thing. I’m going to buy a giftcard tonight. I’ll let you know

Is anybody following the whole "American Express Pre-Approval Referral Offers" thing circulating on DoC and r/churning?
More Info: https://www.doctorofcredit.com/american-express-pre-approval-referral-offers-no-lifetime-language/

Did anybody receive these? I started a thread on DISchurners where these can be discussed and supported...
https://www.reddit.com/r/DISchurners/comments/a1k69r/american_express_preapproval_referral_offers/

Tagging @calypso726, who might be interested in no lifetime language Platinums, especially at 75k MR during triple dip season.

Since these support links are limited to 2 uses, it's probably best to confirm with the referer before using the link and after approval, so the referer can keep track of how many people have used their link and the applicant isn't wasting an application.

ETA: Before applying, verify that the offer terms lack the lifetime language as some folks are sending out and posting regular support links that contain the lifetime language as if it’s the pre-approval links that don’t have the lifetime language. I have enjoyed reading everyone's stories, so I will chime in. We got our first Disney card about 20 years ago, but rarely used it until they starting offering double points for groceries and gas. I really started in the hobby during 2012 while planning a trip to Hawaii in 2013. I somehow stumbled onto some of the points blog and probably read nonstop for days. Loved finding out how to book 3 trips with 2 tickets with Delta Skymiles (which you can't do anymore!) and we did this several times. We aren't really true churners, but are more the keep and hold. I finally clicked on this thread earlier this year and had the revelation about Chase points and Disney. We have a split stay booked with Swan/Contemporary over NYE, so at least we were able to take advantage of it once before booking the hotels disappeared.

When I think back over the last 5 years at how many trips we have taken and times we have paid for family members to travel, it just makes me smile. Our girls are incredibly lucky to have traveled this much and seen distant family so many times.

OT but I'm sure everyone here can appreciate a USPS fail

Finally look at my informed delivery today and there's a piece of mail coming from the new Aldi that's opening up. We've been watching it being built for ages, finally saw the signs going up a couple weeks ago, been waiting to hear when the doors opened to see if there was a deal to be had during the grand opening. So got interested in reading the flyer in my email -
Win free produce for a year!

Free reusable shopping tote!

First 100 customers get a chance to win a golden ticket worth $100 in groceries!

$5 off coupon!

great! sign me up, what day is it?! :hyper:

Grand Opening, Thursday Nov 29th!

:headache:

:) It was probably crazy busy this morning anyway! Our local Aldi just had a grand reopening yesterday after a couple of months closed for remodeling. I took my coupon from the mailer, and they gave me 3 more at the checkout! I love Aldi.

Could I get someone to check my math here... Debating buying Visa GCs and then putting them towards my car loan on Plastiq, to use up my remaining Lowe's/Staples AMEX offer.

  • Buy $300 Visa GC from Staples for $308.95
  • Get back $30.90 for AMEX offer
  • Pay $292.68 toward car loan plus Plastiq fee @ 2.5% $7.32, for $300 total
  • Pay $278.05 OOP for $292.68 towards car loan, ~5% discount
  • Bonus - 556 Starriott points plus maybe $15 RMN offer (online), so ignoring points, $263.05 OOP for $292.68, ~10% discount
I've also got ~$500 in FFD left currently, so I wouldn't even pay the Plastiq fee on part of it

Just have a backup plan for liquidating the VGC (e.g., organic spend). I kept getting errors on Plastiq trying to use a $300 VGC bought at Staples to make a payment towards student loans. The VGC was registered and everything.

I got the same offer and thought about it for a moment. I've stayed in Myrtle Beach when my mom had a timeshare with them and it was fairly nice. But I've only ever done the DVC timeshare sessions and not sure I want to be held hostage for 2 hours with Wyndham.

One of my good friends did one in San Antonio a couple of years ago. She said it was pretty high pressure sales but they just kept saying no. They did hold them 'hostage' for 2 full hours. They had their 4 kids with them, who were all 9 and under at the time. I think she was hoping the sales people would have pity on them and let them out early but nope!

If you know your not going to buy I wouldn’t do it....My son sold timeshares for Wyndham when he first moved to Orlando....If they don’t follow the script and keep you the required amount of time they get in trouble...and the tours they don’t sell on count against them...thankfully after a year he found a better job...

No, I used it on organic spend. With Venmo's 4 cards per rolling 6 months limit, I don't bother with smaller denomination cards.

Your Mom is smart......not sure what timeshare your brother has...but there are places(my son works for one now) that buyback timeshares with no fee/cost at all to the owner...if he wants to get out of paying the dues he should look into it

My Marriott anniversary is in September, and I got that email at the end of August. I either already had my free night in my account, or it showed up right after

Hmm. Maybe I'll try one I have on hand to make sure it doesnt give me an issue. I have $500 left in fee free dollars, so I'd either do $500 or $600...
