I'm a noobie, but looking at opening a couple cards in the next few months. We are self-imployed so I'm looking at the Chase Ink plus card for our business. Next, I was looking at the Southwest card for their 50,000 bonus points. Would it be better to do the Reserve card even with the hefty fee to have more leverage as to where to spend the card? We never fly but after finding out about the signup bonus it would be worth it to fly our next trip to Disney. We usually travel 2-3 times per year driving, but would love to fly if it were an option.

it depends on what u want to go for. People go with Southwest cards for the companion pass. Basically a buy 1 get one free ticket for a year. If you dont fly much, then i probably suggest the CSR(+ quadfectra) instead.

I will know the answer for this in November when we book a DVC rental for Aulani. Im thinking it should though...*no data points to back up my hunch.

EDIT: I think I found the answer - https://www.reddit.com/r/churning/comments/434x3d/booking_a_disney_vacation_club_rental_are_rental/

As always YMMV

Thanks for the info! I wasn't having luck with google

I did find this thread in the DVC forums and bumped it and got a response

Fingers crossed, because I'll need to book ours next month...

Just double-checking my thinking about converting the CSP to a Freedom now that we have the CSR.

Is there any reason why I might want both the CSP and the CSR?

Just another fancy metal card to keep in your wallet... :P Are u over a year on your CSP? You wont be able to downgrade it if its within a year of opening.

If I can't use my Barclay reward points on my DVC rental (if it doesn't code as travel), I should be able to charge things to my room and pay them off at the hotel desk, then apply the rewards towards that transaction?

Is there a website or an app that does point conversions across multiple airlines/hotels? For instance, I plug in that I have 55,000 UR points and designate that I want to use them for air travel, and it gives me transfer rates for all airlines? Or converting from hotel points to airlines, etc.? And if not, consider this my copyright © of the idea.:o

Im not sure what u mean by transfer rate. all of UR are 1 to 1 transfer rate.
unless your talking about redemption rate? redemption rate is when u divide the price with the points and u get the redemption rate.

does this help? --> LINK
Also, list of Transfer rate HERE

Only Starwood Preferred Guest and Membership Rewards have airline partners that may have varying transfer rates other than 1:1. Each program lists the transfer rate on their own website. UR points as Albort said are all 1:1 for airline transfers.

Yes, yes, redemption rate! I wrote that first and then changed it for some unknown reason. :rolleyes1

That chart is insane, thanks. I'm really looking for a calculator that probably doesn't exist.

i see, redemption rate varies based on price and points required. There are times, i find myself about to redeem at $.03 per points.

Excellent list! They need to update it with SPG's newest transfer partner, Avianca. Thanks for sharing that Albort! I'll be saving those links.

yeah, its missing the KLM/Air France for Chase too... i just like that all in 1 transfer partner map haha.

I'm a very visual person and my eyes glaze over when I have to read big blocks of text. This graphic chart is SO helpful. Thank you again, @Albort!!

Albort/calypso/anyone else..... did anyone ever book a hotel through either Visa Signature Hotel or Chase Luxury Hotel & Resort Collection? We are staying in DC early November and I just booked through Chase for Mandarin Oriental. Price was same on Visa & Chase (and direct hotel website) but Chase had a $100 food credit while Visa only had $25. I think most of the other benefits were the same (free breakfast, upgrade, early check in, late check out, if available) Just wondering if anyone had any experiences. I googled and it looks like there is more info on Visa than Chase. Also, I did notice that Visa is without taxes and Chase is with taxes.

Sorry if this has already been discussed, but I have a question specifically about the Chase Southwest cards. I currently have one and LOVE it - have gone on countless trips without paying more than the $11 fee. Anyway, I wonder:
  1. What would be considered acceptable "businesses" to receive the Business card in addition to my signature premiere card? Something as small as an Etsy store? Would love to get another 50k bonus points by getting the business card too, if possible
  2. Can I open a separate premier account under my Husband's name and get another 50k bonus points for that? He is currently listed on my account and has his own card, but wonder if opening account with his name as a primary would also be doable?
Probably wishful thinking on my part, but thought worth the ask!

Thanks!

-Kelly

There are two personal Southwest Visas - Premier and Plus.

You can have both, and you can earn a 50k bonus on both.

Your husband can open either of the Personal cards and receive the 50k bonus - him being an authorized user has no bearing on his eligibility for his own card.

Thank you! This is a game changer for sure! Game on! It is seriously such a great deal. It's funny that so many people are resistant to even try something as simple as getting one card like this and using it for their everyday purchases. I have friends that are like "I don't use credit cards - only my debit card" to which I say "the only difference between using your debit card for everything and using a credit card is that you have to pay it each month, ANND - it pays you in points. What does your debit card pay you? - NOTHING"
