On the go but saw this DP on Reddit of someone CFPBing after not getting their points after being told they’d get the Amex points on the phone despite getting the pop up & they got their points a month later. https://www.reddit.com/r/churning/comments/9qymxd/comment/e8dzjx8

I can’t remember who here this relates to but I KNOW we had someone who was told on the phone they’d get the points who later didn’t. Please tag them to this DP DIS peeps if you remember who it was!

It was me. Had the Pop Up for Gold. Applied anyway (stupidly). Was told the bonus was attached then after spend was made - was told I was not elgible. Have never received the 50,000 points nor do they show in pending..

I wonder if you could load the MCGC to dosh and go to sams and buy disney gc there for an additional 9% or so back.
I tried to load a MCGC to Dosh once and it wouldn't let me. Haven't tried since. I don't have any MCGC to try period :( But I think someone loaded a Visa GC on there, on the GC thread.

No. Only guesses as Chase refuses to publicly discuss it. Imho best theory at this point is they saw it was a popular redemption so they discontinued it to stem the bleeding of their rewards program. Sad panda.
Disney is the only thing I have booked through their portal. I otherwise transfer out to southwest and am going to transfer to Hyatt in the next day or so. I guess I need to re evaluate the CSR that my DH uses exclusively then. He does earn well with it bc he dines out and travels alot, but without the 1.5x redemption it loses value. Any math gurus (@SouthFayetteFan) want to help me figure that part out?

We have hertz points for work car rentals.
We have hilton points from work travel.
We fly exclusively SW at this time.

My next big redemption I am savings towards is going to be Hawaii. I will definitely be able to rack up lots of hilton points for that. I could see maybe combing with aulani or Hyatt. (neither of those would be booked through the portal.) I could see maybe flying a diff airline, but don't know for sure until southwest releases their Hawaii flights (ever??).

Looks like the annual travel credit on the csr resets 11/14/18.

ETA: Maybe I should downgrade the csr to a CFU? Any URs he earns I can send to his CIP to transfer out to wherever.
Then he will start putting his hilton stays on that card, and everything else on..??

Imho you have nothing to lose by filing with CFPB if you haven’t already. You called to ask & were told you were fine, you’d get the bonus and as a result you gave them your financial business.

If it makes you feel better I messed up our beach trip room charges last week. ugghhh. I was so mad. I went in and changed the default cc on DH's hilton account but forgot to change it on the actual reservation. Not only did I miss out on the $30/$175 hilton garden offer on the plain amex, but it also didn't go to the hilton amex or the csr for decent points. It went to the spg biz. grrrrr. must have been what I was using for msr back when I made the reservation. so dumb.

I made a Hilton mistake last week too! We stayed at a Hilton Garden Inn the night before our cruise. DH had bought a Hilton gc with one of the Amex offers over the summer. As we got into our stateroom on the ship, I looked at the bill they sent and realized we forgot to pay with the gc! DH suggested calling them, but I didn't even bring the gc with me!

Here's some thoughts:
  • If you are keeping a CIP open and paying the fee you will obviously retain the ability to transfer URs to partners (Southwest/Hyatt/etc.)
  • If your sole plan is to now transfer points to partners then the 1.50x is a non-factor for you
  • You will pay the $95 AF on the CIP...would you keep your CIP and pay that fee if you DID NOT have a CSR? (We'll call this Example1)
  • IF you would get rid of your CIP then you have a $450 fee vs. a $95 fee.
  • Of course you also get the $300 Trav Cred with the CSR. Most people figure that is worth $300 (I actually feel it's worth less than $300 since I could've spent that $300 in a way that earned me something otherwise...but I digress, let's call it $300 for this argument.) So your net AF is $150.
  • Example1 Summary: So you would either pay a $95 AF or a $150 AF...the difference is $65. If your husband puts more than $4,334 in dining and travel on his CSR annually, you would come out ahead vs. him putting this spend on a CFU.
  • Now if you would keep your CIP open and your CSR open due to the earning possibilities...that's a little different. (We'll call this Example2)
  • Example2 Summary: You will pay $95 regardless so you are looking at an ADDITIONAL $150 in AF. If your husband puts more than $10,000 in dining and travel on his CSR annually, you would come out ahead vs. him putting this spend on a CFU.
Hope that helps :) Again there's a lot of assumptions built in here so if those assumptions ARE NOT correct, this math could be mis-leading.

can I buy a sams club gc and then go use at walmart?

Catching up on all the conversations:

All the talk on books is making me remember reading to my kids (30 and 20 so no longer kids) every night. Before my son could read he picked out the book every night and it was in the Dr Seuss collection - Wacky Wednesday. I was so tired of that book. We still joke about it. On chapter books, the ones I haven't seen mentioned yet are the Adventures of Wishbone books. Not sure if anyone else saw that show on PBS with the dog who plays a key part in classics. Fun way to read about the classics (Huckleberry Dog, The Prince and the Pooch!). I need to see if we still have the Wishbone stuffed animal. He is probably hanging with Clifford.

@SouthFayetteFan - BTDT when I used my CSR at Costco this month instead of my CF. I was kicking myself as I drove home realizing what I did.

Putting a Staples stop on my list to use the RMN deal. Now just to decide on what GC I need/want.

@Lain - Glad the list for GOC is expanding. But it needs to move further East!! Nothing in my neck of the woods and I only have 3 more semesters of tuition left so I am running out of time for this to be a benefit to me.

Both DM's and my CP expire in Dec. I had been planning to wait until the end of 2019 to apply for the SW business card and the new Priority card. Then, when I logged into my Chase account I'm seeing that I am now at 4/24 (My CSR dropped off:flower1:) and DM should be 4/24 next week. I have known this was coming but hadn't put much thought into how that could affect our options for getting my CP earlier. We both got the SW Plus/Premier mid-2017 when they were at 60,000 points. I'm wondering if I can be sure that the new SW Priority card is a new product that we allowed to get. We could both cancel current SW cards now if this is the case. If we apply early Nov for the business cards, we are flying home from Orlando on Dec 15th and could do in flight applications for the new Priority cards. I had been planning on DM applying for CIP next month but the CP is so much more valuable for us. If we needed to space out the applications some I'm sure we will be going somewhere at the end of Feb to get out of the cold. I currently have two Chase business cards and DM has none. I lowered the CL on her cards last week and mine today. Is there anything I am missing??

Wishbone! I used to watch that show with my kids (now 25 and 23), but only the 25yo can remember it. I think they did either Hamlet or Macbeth too :-)

Just to add to SFF's thoughts, if you're looking for something else to put your dining on, there are now more options - 4x MR Amex Gold and 4% cash back Barclays Uber. Of course, if you're mostly using your URs to transfer to Southwest, maybe continuing to earn at 3x is your best bet. It would have to be a lot of points to offset the AF though (even if it is effectively $150). CFU would get you 1.5x UR on everything. Could get a CF for rotating categories and use it in the quarters with 5% comes around for restaurants.

Unfortunately you have to wait 24 months from the time you last received a bonus on any SW personal card to apply for the Priority card.

I’d definitely do a Slinky dog fastpass....the standby lines will be a lot longer than TSM...we all enjoyed SD...it’s a better ride in our opinion than 7D and longer
Frozen we went on once....unless you have frozen loving kids in your group..I’d pass and go see the frozen sing a long show at the Studios...the narrators are great
Mine train is cute...but short
OMG I was not expecting much from Frozen sing a long thing in HS but I have a Frozen craze 2 year old so we went. The “narrators” are great! We ended up watching it twice and the second set of narrators were so funny I was crying! Poor Kristolf could not even speak his lines!
It was also a great break from the heat!

The narrators are the best. One of them is on Instagram. We ended up skipping the show last month because our DHS times didn't line up with his show times.
