I love credit cards so much!

Oh gosh, I have been gone for about a week because my life got CRAZY. But I still had one child ticket to order and finally got the points, so I went to do it a couple of weeks ago and I wasn't able to order one child (you could not select anything lower than 1 adult, so I would have also had to get an adult ticket. So weird.) So I kept meaning to call (see CRAZY life above) and see if I could do it over the phone.

Today, I FINALLY logged in to see if it would work before I called and couldn't find them at all. The lady I talked to was absolutely no help at all. I was just coming here to see if there was some news about this or if anyone had ideas. Sounds like I am not the only one? DANGIT!!!!

Anything else I need to now? Would it help talking to the cruise dept? Something? I am so sad and we leave in one week so I need to get a ticket like, right now.

So far it appears to be showing up only on CSP portal, which has updated to the new website for me. It's not showing up on either of my CIPs, and someone reported yesterday it's not working on the CSR website. I would call into Chase and try, but it's unlikely to work. I would definitely ask them to report that it's not working so that maybe we can get this back in the game for the future. I was super unhappy with my agent. I asked him what actions Chase was going to take if I would be unable to book these tickets with my URs for a 1.25 redemption. He responded "I don't understand your question." Really, because it's not that hard to get. How are you going to make this right if I end up having to pay cash for something I should be able to book on your website, since you have it advertised there.

:offtopic: If you know of a job opening because the person left the role but it hasn't been posted do you apply or wait for it to get posted? I don't think it was posted last time, it was filled internally. Also of note, the exec director/pres over the org is interim and there's no actual HR so I would send to the interim person.

The job is also located in another state so I would be trying to work remotely, which there are other people doing in other roles. I have a relationship with the org since I currently volunteer in a role that reports to the person under the one I want to potentially apply for. Other hurdle is not knowing the actual job description just the title and the bit I've worked with the people previously in the position. It's also a job I would apply for regardless of whether I currently had a job or not.

What to do next? I just finished my MSR on my CSP. I was approved on 8/27. I am 1/24.

I have been going around the house collecting some things to list on eBay. It's been many years since I have sold any items. I'm thinking about applying for the CIP or CIC next, but want to have sold some items first so I can list a small income. It makes me nervous applying for a business card.

If I do apply for one of these cards I need to wait until at least 11/27, right? I read that some approvals can take 30 days? It would be easier for me to make MSR with some bills coming due in December, but do not want to risk applying too early.

I would reach out to someone and apply before it was officially posted.

Congrats on finishing up the MSR..

Since your 1/24...I think you’d be fine putting 2 months between applications....so 10/27 ish....just remember when applying for the business card...to use your name and SS number as the business name and EIN....also include all income in the spot they ask for household income...not just your business income...my sister made that mistake...lol

my time line from application to receiving the card has never taken 30 days....they range from 7-14 days

Don't be nervous applying for a business card - the worst that can happen is they deny you. And while that sounds bad...it's really not, and worth the risk :)

I would say that our previous "rule" of putting 3 months in between applications isn't really applicable any more. There haven't been many recent shutdown reports, it looks like Chase has turned their attention to application rules to limit churners vs. shutdowns. I wouldn't go crazy and get a card per month or anything like that but you actually might be fine to apply now (especially since you're 1/24). If it were me, I'd wait until November 1st to apply if you can delay another 3ish weeks. That would mean Sept and Oct calendar months have passed completely since your last application. Good Luck!

Regarding the timing of receiving the card - you may be instantly approved or it could be pending for as much as 7 days. I'd expect to have the card approx. 1 week after being approved (so 1-2 weeks in most cases).

Anyone here who books Hilton rooms on points who can send me in the right direction?

I was looking to book an airport Hilton for one night. AMEX has a good MR > Hilton points deal at the moment, but I want to think about whether or not it's a good deal. Hilton online won't show the number of HH points needed to book it, so DH called Hilton and asked. They said that since he didn't have any HH points in his account he can't see the info... and they can't see it either. Is this for real? We hate calling, but did so and got nowhere. We have to transfer points in to see how many points we would need? We can't seem to find the info online either (no issues with Marriott or Hyatt).

Anyone have any advice on how I can get this info?

I can try to look for you if you want to post a link to the property and the nights.

I have transferred MRs to Hilton before (mainly because my best use for these MRs was a gift card and the Hilton gave me a better cpp than that).

Still no dice on Universal tickets through Chase. I just got off the phone with them again and escalated to a supervisor. They said they'll report that you're unable to purchase them, but other than that there's nothing to do. To say I'm disappointed would be an understatement.
Ughhhhhhh. Was this regular or cruise and tours??

Ugghhh so annoying. I couldn’t find them on CSR site

Thank you! The property is https://www3.hilton.com/en/hotels/new-york/hilton-new-york-jfk-airport-NYCJFHF/index.html and the night would be May 11th (just one night). I really appreciate this! It's so weird that they won't just let us know when we ask.

party:Congrats! Happy to have a fellow rose gold friend on the boards :) Hooray!

Thank you! For not having MR's for so long I quickly am becoming addicted. You, @calypso726 , and @Lain are recruiting machines!

Certainly a day worth celebrating. I think my wife though I was weird when I ripped open that envelope and held the card close the first time...

The other night as I was going to bed I told my husband I was thinking about getting the new Personal Gold Amex. Me: "Would you like to hear about it?" Him: "No, not even a little bit." I texted him and told him I was approved and he didn't even respond. That is why I have to get on here and post! I might need to take a picture with it. Sad but true but I am excited about using this card as I am in the bitter phase with my CSR right now.

Don't worry about your income. I had to talk to Chase when I was approved for my CIP because my overall credit limits were so high, but I put only $50 as the income and the representative did not have a problem with that. He said that they understood it was a start up and "projected income." It is likely you might not need to ever even talk to anyone.

That's the way I'm leaning. Do I acknowledge that it hasn't been posted in my letter/email?

Do you have a professional (or personal) connection with anyone at the company? That's where I would start. If not, I don't think you have to acknowledge that it hasn't been posted. You can just say something like "I'm aware this position has recently been vacated and I believe I would be an ideal fit." Of course, then follow that with an A+ cover letter! I really like askamanger.com for resources on cover letters, resume, and overall professional questions in general. She has never steered me wrong. I'm confident my cover letter was one of the main factors in landing an interview for the job I have now.

It really ticks me off that I had to read about the Chase Freedom Costco bonus problem here and contact them to get my 5X bonus. I might not have noticed until the statement closed if I hadn't seen it here. I SM'd them and they awarded my account 2000 UR. But the fact that I had to check up on them and request those points makes me mad!

I'm seeing 50,000 Hilton Points for either a King Room or 2 Queen Room for 1 night - May 11th, 2019. Depending on which rate you compare it to, it is 0.5cpp-0.6cpp on the Hilton points. Looks like you'd have to transfer 20,000 MRs to get to 50k (If I'm looking at this correctly) and that's a pretty good value IMO.

I personally don't have 50k Hilton points to confirm they'd actually let me book this rate though. When I go to book it says "rate no longer available" but I think that's just because I have very little Hilton points.

Does anybody here have 50,000+ Hilton points and can you confirm for @mmmears that the night of May 11th is available for 50,000 points at this property: https://www3.hilton.com/en/hotels/new-york/hilton-new-york-jfk-airport-NYCJFHF/index.html

I'd prefer we get an actual confirmation that somebody can get to the booking screen before I recommend you make this transfer.

Thank you @SouthFayetteFan! I really appreciate your help. The MRs do have a decent rate of transfer to Hilton (from what I can tell), but not knowing how many points we would need or if we could book it makes it impossible for me to go ahead on this one. Thanks for asking for more info for me - we also saw the "you can't book this thing" note, but thought it was because our balance is zero. I can also see that for a cash room in May it's pretty expensive, yet ones this month are not... so perhaps I'm just looking too early?

Decided to pull the trigger on the EDP 20k/$1k with the 15k self-referral. Instantly approved. No popup.

I have no explanation for Amex's mysterious ways. I figured I was a shoo-in for the denial of bonus popup. I've hit them hard this year - I'm overall 21/24, and this was my 9th Amex in 2018 (6 personal, 3 biz). The vast majority have been sock-drawered after cashing out the MRs via Schwab, with the exception of a few Amex offers here and there. I recently started using the BGR again after receiving a spend bonus, but I've only put around $600 on it.

With the EDP, my only remaining MR card is the Biz Plat, and I just need to make sure I get that one at a time I can meet the $10k spend.

If it's bookable...50,000 points for that room isn't terrible. Hilton rooms typically go for a lot. If somebody can confirm that they can get to a booking screen, I'd probably go for it and lock it in. If Hilton reduces the points needed in the future (which believe it or not can happen...) you could call to rebook and get some points back. (But then you'd have a small amount of Hilton points which you may not have a use for, lol).
