Hahahaha one of those was you?? I was reading that!

Yup, the one that kept arguing :) I even found the sticky on the transportation board to prove that it's fine. People driving me nuts and I couldn't leave it alone with their reasons why you can't use DME just for luggage. And this is why I generally don't post there, but it was a new post with the first answer incorrect so I couldn't not do it. This is also why I don't go on r/churning :surfweb::stir::stir::teeth::teacher:

I avoid disboards of FB for the same reasons. Well, really FB in general. And I don’t tweet or snap or anything else.

@GlamMistress @Lain I think you guys are dealing with the Amex bonus denial due to bonus abuse pop up?

  • 9/26 Dad applied for DL Gold and got pop up, has 1 small business Amex card acquired a few years ago with a bonus offer (no other Amex cards at all- besides being an AU on one with no activity), been putting about 200 on the card since the amex offers came out this June, little to none prior to that
  • Put a few charges on the card totally just over $600
  • 10/5 applied again, no pop up, instant approval

Thanks!

We’re off to Disneyland for the long weekend. We had dinner at Yankee Pier using my wife’s and my Priority Pass cards. I also swung by the Centurion Lounge to grab some fruits for the kiddo. On a plane right now waiting to take off for the OC.

I’ve been putting more organic spend on my wife’s cards so it doesn’t look like she’s abandoned them after meeting MSR. I’ll keep it up until we’re ready to apply again. Fortunately, she only has two Amex cards in her name that I have to manage. I’ve been shifting a lot of my own spend over to my Amex cards. Now that I know there’s a 50k MR offer available on the Rose Gold Card until 1/9/19, we have some time and I’ll try again for DW when the timing is more ideal. The 50k MR welcome offer and fee aren’t as good as on the pre-10/4 PRG incognito, but it’s a lot better than what we feared (only 25k MR and up to a $100 SC).

I do no social media except for Insta just to keep up with my teens. I completely miss out on all this FB stuff! My teens don't do FB (it's not cool lol) so I just haven't felt the need to get on there either...!

have a great time on your DLR weekend trip! So jealous!!

My 5th grader just spend a couple weeks preparing for "biz town" which is where the kids run their own town, business and all, for 2 days. The teacher's email one night said they were spending alot of time in class working on balancing the checkbook register and they were having trouble with it. I said to DH, "what in the world!? No one uses a checkbook register, or for that matter debit cards/checks. And, we have online banking. Why don't they teach mint or something!?" Talk about a waste of time.
Yup! Our kids do the same...It's called "Ameritowne" here. My kids do it even though we homeschool cause we participate in a part time public school/part time homeschool program. They teach them the silliness of how to write a check, balance a checkbook, etc.. Pretty useless...Though my oldest dd was the mayor the year she did it. That was cool. She had to actually campaign and receive votes.

FB is the only way I keep in touch with a lot of my friends which ia kinda bad but when you move the friend's stay there. That's the one benefit, without it there wouldn't be much communication as we all are busy etc. However I am so thankful that it didn't come out until after I'd graduated college. I don't know how hs and college kids so it with all the social media and the real accounts and the fake accounts to seperate what/who they post for. I bet the art of folding paper after you wrote your friend a note during class is gone too. I used to keep them all but think I came to my senses and threw them out during college.

I used to have Facebook in jr high and high school but someone hacked into mine and posted some not so nice things about me. I ended up deleting it and haven’t had one since. I still have a Twitter but I don’t post anything; just follow famous people and stuff. I also have a Pinterest but I don’t post anything there either. They just have a lot of creative teaching things.

I use it, too, simply because I have connected to old college friends, and some family members who live abroad. It's helpful in that regard. Oh, and my cruise group was really wonderful. But I honestly think there is more bad on there than good.

I forgot that I do have Pinterest too! I'm thankful that my kids aren't terribly into social media. I don't find it that healthy actually, neither do scientist, for that matter...

Ok now I feel really old. I got on FB when my DD was in middle school. :rotfl:All the moms were getting on to keep an eye on their kids and advised me to do the same. Ironically, I feel like the only parent of a kid who doesn't use FB, rarely uses Insta, and has even given up Snapchat. She's just not into social media.

My dd's are only on Insta. I have one just to keep up with them...Apparently, 'none' of their friends are on FB or twitter. And if you read about who is on FB, it's a grandmothers and mom's platform. Which is why none of the youngers are on it!

Yes, it's definitely the older people who are on FB. (one generation above me in some cases LOL).

Yes, all my aunts and my MIL are still super into FB. I'm not really into any social media so I just hang back and watch lol. I only care what my kiddos are into and so far, it's been minimal, and not FB. Social media is not dying out but it is changing.

My mom can barely run her phone lol. She only really gets on to shop online (she just learned how to do that) and to play casino games. I never downloaded Snapchat. I think it’s super weird to take so many pictures of yourself. Some people are constantly taking pictures and sending them out and they will take pictures of stupid things. My SIL does this and it gets pretty annoying to be with her and deal with her always taking pictures. I think it’s awesome that your kids aren’t super into social media.

My aunts and uncles are really into fb too. It’s become more of a thing for my parent’s age because they like seeing people from high school. Fb caused more problems for me than doing any good. I think it turns a lot of people into “stalkers” because they sit and check up on other people’s pictures like crazy to see where they were and who they were with. My cousin used to post tons of horrible things about work like she didn’t think other people could see it. We got lectured a lot in my teaching program about fb so I just zoned out during those talks.
