I love credit cards so much!

I've actually considered whether we should ever start a new thread - this one has soooo many pages. And like you said we could be a little more conspicuous with the name maybe (although we do want newbies here to find us so that presents a challenge...)
I definitely want DIS newbies to find us but it’d be nice to not be found so easily through google. It’s a dilemma for sure.

Something worth pointing out about this thread :

We have 43k comments - the most of anything on the budget board! We passed up the gift card thread (34k) and the Swagbucks thread (22k) both of which were created long before our thread. We are active commenters, that's for sure!! We are second in views (to the GC thread, which has about twice as much as us)

@SouthFayetteFan - new title/name for thread could be something like Travel Rewards or something that does not directly say Credit Card but does tell people we discuss travel.

Travel for Less
Maximize Your Travel Budget

Or maybe use Vacation instead.of Travel.....

Encourage people to use acronyms in posts...especially CC.

Just my 2 cents for what it is worth.

Hey! I have the same offer! Could you give me an idea of what gift cards where available at Kmart if you can recall? My nearest one is about 30 minutes away, so I’m just trying to get an idea!
Don’t have a KMart near me at all. Heard they had the typical gift card mall there. If I find one out of town I’ll let you know.
Wow—I have all 5 wf earn more offers (mine are all 50%). Guess I’ll be heading to staples tonight. And I was just thinking about closing this card.
Lol me too. I hate Wells Fargo but if they’re going to give offers like these I’ll keep it open.

I’m looking into applying for some AMEX cards and would like to mix in some giftcard purchases to meet minimum spend. Are there any major retailers that don’t have Level 3 reporting with AMEX?

I did the DD 5 days after you and am also QUITE paranoid about getting both bonuses. I am going about the MSR totally opposite from you though. I have about $600 left on the CSR and haven't even begun the CSP yet. I need to wait for car insurance and taxes in early November.

What is your best educated guess on meeting the MSR'S? Should I carry on, completing the CSR first, then go on to the CSP. Or should I try to meet both spends around the same time, keeping in mind there is no way this can be accomplished before early November? My thinking on doing only one spend at a time is, if Chase decides to shut down one card they would probably close the card that has no spend on it. It was also the second in the DD and the one I would rather lose if need be. Ugh, I pushed up my DD date because I had a feeling, and now I just feel sick to my stomach, waiting for the hammer to drop. Just thankful it was my account and not my semi reluctant P2.

I feel your pain! Just catching up on this thread. Did the DD for DH on 8/26, have about $3000 on the CSR and just started the CSP spending so have about $400 on it. We were planing to finish the MSR for CSR on a trip end of October, now I am unsure if I should just buy a bunch of GC now. So bummed at the news!

I see Giant Eagle is giving double fuel perks on MC GC this week, what to do, what to do.

I have also transferred 3 automatic charges to the CSP, they had better go through! (Cell phone, internet, and a charity donation)

I'm gonna say in general that nobody from Chase or AMEX is looking at our Thread for things churners do. We don't discuss anything

That 20 cents on MCGC is a bummer to me though because they don't sell $200 MCGCs at any GEs I'm familiar with.

Now that the CF Q4 categories have been released I have a few questions(My P2 just received the card).
1) Do Sams.com and in store purchases both get the 5%?
2) Do Disney gift cards bought at sams.com or in store count toward the 5%?
3) @disneymagicgirl reports that in her experience, using the the Chase portal to buy giftcards from Sam's.com does not work to get the extra % back. Can anyone else concur(not that I don't value her experience)?
Thank you!

1) both should code 5x
2) both should code 5x
3) YMMV.

Hate WF too but those offers had me thinking about getting a card... and then only using it for the offers. I'm sure that would stick it to them somehow. :p

Honestly, I think there's more places that don't do it than do. As long as you don't make it fairly obvious, there's no reason to look further into the transaction so you're probably safe most places. And if it's store/3rd party gift cards (as opposed to VGC/MCGC/AXGC) that's easier to explain as not a cash equivalent. But I think the big guys are obvious like GCM, Simon and the other one with "gift card" in the name (drawing a complete blank) where most people buy the prepaid GC's; then there's Staples, OM/OD that do send it. Most grocery stores, Best Buy, Lowes, WM, target and the like send L2 data at the most and that's not dangerous generally. If it's not an even number or ends in 4.95/5.95/etc it should just pass by.

I think if we do start a new thread and change the title, we should have it be somewhat 'cryptic'. Something that hopefully other DIS'ers would want to click on but nothing you'd plug into a google search, like 'cheap travel'. And definitely nothing with 'credit cards' in the title!

I can't find the post now...who opened the card that had the $200 cash back on $1000? Employee cards get same bonus. Did you get approved?? It was a biz card but I cannot remember which one. Thinking about going for that one while I hem and haw about Hilton and Amex plat :-)
