I am a bunch of pages behind, but just wanted to say I am the proud new owner of a shiny new SW Biz card!!!! I hadn't checked the status line since yesterday afternoon but logged into my CIP to transfer points to SW to book flights this morning and it was listed! YAY! Over half way to CP! So, how long til I can app for the personal?
And on a side note, I had added myself to DH's oldest amex about 2 weeks ago so apparently it isn't showing as a "new" account...at least yet...b/c that would have made me 1/30 and ineligible for the new biz card.

The 1/30 rule only applies to Chase applications so an AMEX card shouldn't have affected that.

You could probably apply for the personal now if you wanted. However, if you don't need it now, I'd probably wait as long as you can (always be spacing out those Chase apps when possible, right?)

If it's the same 1/30 I'm thinking about, then that only applies to Chase applications, so the AmEx shouldn't have affected you. It'd be a concern for your 5/24 count though. Fingers crossed for you on the next personal!

Just in case it is important to you - the Jambo House pool was due to close for renovations next week - not sure on the latest situation, but you might want to check if that would impact your stay.

Ugh...Is this the same as Uzima Springs Pool? is this the main pool that looks so nice? There’s a note about renovations starting in the fall on the website. I guess I might have to call since we intended to use the pool quite a bit and DS really liked the look of that pool.

More questions...how do I book MDE? I was expecting to see something on my Itinerary but not finding anything.

I'd love to have a pig-they are smart, have great personalities and contrary to popular belief don't enjoy being dirty but enjoy being cool (me too!). DH absolutely says no and honestly having four dogs is pushing it with him. I'd like to have a herd of pigs and more dogs but best to stay married!

Who knows, maybe someday after I get some of my traveling in I will have a few goats and make/sell soap and cheese, and then I can restock my point stashes with some business cards for my shiny new EIN

I am the same - i love dogs but they seem to be a lot of work and as we travel frequently, it just doesn't seem right to take on that commitment. My DD will gives me the big brown sad eyes every year or so, and we have to have 'The Talk' - pets would mean less cruises/disney trips/ foreign trips/ weekends away etc etc. She is reluctantly accepting of our decision, but I am sure there is some deep-seated resentment in their somewhere. We did come close to relenting once, but then our DD looked after a friends hamster for a couple weeks. The first few days were great, but then she kinda lost interest as it seemed as though the hamster was interfering with iPad time.

At times, it does feel like we are the only family in town without a dog.

I gave up several trips to care for my dog while my parents travel. I have no regrets in doing so, I loved my dog.

Would be cool if they lived longer lives though. :,(

Well this was just a short trip from Omaha to Chicago for DD and I to see my parents for her spring break. I wish it was to MCO!!! Wife would KILL me if we went! I am already in the hot seat for booking a fall trip for DD and I to go to Disney for a week. I mean we have annual passes, DD flys free, I had points for my flight and room... I totally saw a problem that had to be solved there.

WELL... You will most likely have to put those $$ meals aside unless it's just you and dh (though you could get away with a baby/toddler for free for a bit). Our family eats a lot simpler and cheaper

I am not sure how long you have been with your SO, but my dh & I dated for 4 years before we got married and then were married for almost 5 years before our first baby arrived. We did a ton of pricey meals and extravagant travel before kids so we were ready to 'sacrifice' and welcome a little one. I never regret my kids but life does change when they enter the picture. It's ok though cause change is good and the change children bring isn't like anything else. It's mind-blowing really how much 'change' one little person can cause lol. They leave footprints on your heart for real...nothing at Disney could ever compare to what having your own child brings into your life.

Having said that, I don't think everyone has to have children to have a fulfilled life. My dh & I are both only children (and he is only grandchild) and we both felt rather lonely growing up so our desire was to surround ourselves with a large family. I know you have siblings (not sure on your SO) but you could feel you are surrounded by family without needing to have kids...? Having kids can give you purpose though that I'm not sure siblings can.

It's such a personal decision! You still seem really young to me so just enjoy life for now. You'll know when it's time (or not time). I was 23 and never having kids. A year later, I was pregnant (on purpose) and couldn't wait to be a mom

SO and I have been dating for 6 years but that was during high school and college and law school for me. This is the first year where we have actual money for nice things. I was thinking kids are probably 4/5 years away. So we will be 27/28. I think by then we will be ready to make sacrifices.

Loaded through April 7th for me. Maybe they are still loading them...maybe they won't be sold out once loaded fully. Fingers crossed.

I checked at 5am central and not loaded. Checked again 5:38am central and they were there...some ridiculously high and some sold out. I just rolled over and went back to sleep. Then about an hour ago I decided to look again and there were many much more reasonable choices. I went ahead and booked them. Hoping I can tweak a little btwn now and March but if not, I am ok with what we have. In my experience, from BNA anyways, opening day is never that great and I can always find a better deal later. However, I am flexible and avoid flying peak days. I imagine peak days may be different.

I know there are Disney dedicated threads but lots of Disney pros on this one also. DS11 and I are suddenly going 9/8-10. We’ve been several times and have always stayed deluxe, typically WL and once at Boardwalk. Options for this trip: POR- $500, AKL- $615 or YC- $750. Currently have 2- 1 day pH passes. Our flight gets in at 8:40 am from BWI. So Sat could be a swim day only, swim day + Halloween party, park day and purchase a 2 day PH. We definitely want to do AK/Pandora at night. I have URs to cover room and tickets or I could discounted GCs. Thoughts?

I have issue with the resorts that have internal bus loops. It is a time hog. I'd go AKL or YC if I were you.

Wow, I was thinking man she looks way too young to have been with DH 9 years before having kids, but looks like you started way early! My kids think my DH and I started way too early, lol we started dating at 19 and were married at 23, first kid at 26. So I guess we were together 7 years before kids. Though I have to say we didn't do much fun traveling before kids. We lived far away from family so most of our traveling was visiting family. And after kids, most of our traveling was still visiting family.



I kind of disagree about this. I always say to people if you wait till you are "ready" before having kids you will never have them!! I wasn't ready till after DD came out. lol But I do agree that kids are not for everyone.

My DH and I were together 7 years also before kiddos (I was 18 when we started dating, married at 23, first baby at 25). I didn't particularly want kids either, and my husband really did, so I bargained for one more kid-free summer before we started trying! No regrets at all about it, of course! Do I sometimes get jealous at all of the extra money DINKs seem to have for travel (like my step-brother and his partner) - heck yes! But I wouldn't trade being the mom to my boys for anything in this world!

Having kids is such a personal decision - I have friends that have tried for YEARS (and are on the second round of IVF), and it makes me cringe when people ask them why they don't have any yet. You just never know what the situation may be. It's important that we all support each other!!

Exactly!! I just upgraded DH yesterday. I'm planning to purchase a $300 gift card tomorrow at a Marriott front desk. I will report back and let you know if I get the $300 credit. It SHOULD work. Will be seriously bummed if it doesn't.

Yes it is Uzima Springs. It was announced that it would close next week - but that was back in June - not sure what the latest schedule is so probably best to call.

The unrestricted IHG free night

It was fun while it lasted. Using ours this year in December at the Kimpton Ink48 NYC. We'll get the unrestricted certs one more time next year. And then alas...

yeah.... I can't even remember how the free night is changed right now... I know it was something negative....still keeping th card as that's a great add on to most of my trips
