I love credit cards so much!

My Plastiq payment was declined by Marriott Premiere Plus. I have to call later to find out why. I was wondering with the 100,000 points you get for $5000 spend, can that only be used for Marriott or can you transfer the points so you can book flights or cruises? If it’s only for Marriott I may just give up on trying to get the MS in that card. I’m regretting applying for that card.
Also I applied for Barclays Jet Blue business and it went pending. I was hoping to get points for Jet Blue to fly to Seattle for my cruise in June.

Maybe someone can verify this but when you transfer your cruise to Chase within the first 30 days of booking to use UR points on the cruise you have to pay it in full right after they apply your points right?
60k Marriott points can be transferred to 25k Airline miles/points in numerous programs (and 3:1 when not doing 60k at a time). So your 110k Marriott Pts (including the base points) would be worth > 40k Airline miles/points. It’s a pretty decent signup no matter how you slice it.

@nhgirl - I should add that Jetblue is actually 6:1 with Marriott so your 110k Marriott would be worth approximately 21k JetBlue Points if you went that route.

I’m not sure if that’s good or not...just putting it out there :)

DH doesn't want to play :-(
Hoping he comes around. He's been using the employee cards I got him, so that's a start haha.!

Hopefully he will come around...my husband is a reluctant P2....his initial concern was his credit score going down...since that hasn’t happened....he’s fine with me applying for cards in his name as long as he does not have to make any phone calls

You just gotta work on your deep voice ;)

Still haven't decided on where I'm going to stay for sure for our November USO trip, but I'm glad that I did book the Fairfield Inn nearby in case we do end up staying there. I booked it at $105/night and it's now up to a stupid price of $150/night. Thinking I may swap it for the Doubletree by the gates though, even though it's 30,000 points/night. I don't value my Hilton points as much as my Marriott points though, so guess I may as well burn them.

I merged both my wife's and my Marriott accounts. She has 2,845 points - hopefully something random will come up and we can get her to 3,000 and then transfer them to my account. I did her's online.

My names didn't match so I had to call in. I waited on hold for 40 minutes (this was last night at MIDNIGHT). The guy on the phone was hilarious. He was like "oh boy we'll transfer your 15 points from this account to your...holy crap...1 million 419 thousand blah blah blah points." I think he may not be used to seeing numbers that large, LOL.

Eventually I guess I need to use some of these points...I'm certainly done earning Marriott points for now.

Was your Plastiq payment more than 20% of your Marriott Premier Plus’s credit limit?

For Chase personal VISA credit cards, payments made through Plastiq may be subject to a lower card limit (typically ~20% of your total card limit). Your transaction should otherwise be treated normally with full rewards.

Yes it was  soooo now I have to figure out what bills I can charge to meet my MS.

Merge Failed.

That's all I get... Will try again later, or maybe I'll have to call.

Yes, you need to plan a very cool vacation and spend some of your points. Or maybe you could buy a dozen N&F packages or so and book us a dischurners convention somewhere. I hear that works well.

Here are my options for obtaining CP.
---------------------------------------------------------------
(I have 16k towards CP already) (2/24 plus CIP, 0/120, 0/3, 0/30…next falling off 7/1/19)
————————————————————————————

OPTION 1:

Plus/Priority DD…Biz (later)

$20k spend

165k points (80k now + 25k later + 65k later)
-------

OPTION 2:

Biz/priority

$19k spend

125k points (100k now+25k later)
--------

OPTION 3:

Biz/plus

$4k spend

100k points…all now
----------

OPTION4:

DD plus/priority

$17k

105k points (80k now+25k later)

In the back of my mind I am hearing this nagging voice: "You have enough points to book your Dec cruise flights already. Wait and do CP for 2019/2020. You can even app for the premier on your flight for 50k."

To which I say: "But I could use the URs on pre/post cruise stays instead of flights if I had the CP and all those SW points."

Then I think: "should I get a cic now instead? And maybe get DH a SW biz now for some SW points. He can't do personals again for a CP until next fall."

GAAHHH! Yes, I am like this about all decisions...not just travel related.:headache:

Can you try breaking up your Plastiq payment so your first payment is exactly 20%, then try charging the remainder to the Marriott on a separate payment? If that doesn’t work, at least you have a partial payment = 20%, and you can put the remainder due onto another card or payment method.

Mine is still giving me the error message at the last step. :sad2:

Looking into BGR and BB+ now. Interesting options! I don't have an SPG biz and I should (?) qualify for one, but I don't have any particular use in mind right now for either Hilton or Marriott points. I suppose they could come in handy someday, but I don't have a specific redemption plan the way I do for my URs. And Delta doesn't really fly out of my local airports - it's all about United and SW here!

No Freedoms yet, since I'm 1/24 and not planning to use a slot on it yet. My DH has a CFU so perhaps I could shift all our spend to there so at least we're getting more than 1% back on purchases. I'd say the time is ripe to loop him in as my P2 but he's not ready yet :)
Just a reminder there is a 75k offer on the BGR that’s better than the support link offers, info on DoC :)

I know the recommended strategy is to get the CP early in the year so you have it for 2 years.......will you use it a lot in,those two years or are you better off having it for your December cruise flights and next year

For me the SW Priority is worth it...due to the $75 credit and 4 upgrades..so I’d do option 2

I just upgraded my Plus that had been open 2 years this month...bonus points posted & annual fee hit...got a $35 retention credit first on the Plus ...then called to upgrade
So online I see the $35 credit and refund of my $69 plus annual fee...I’m assuming the $149 will hit soon and I will use the $75 credit easily...and hopefully the upgraded boarding positions will be easy to use as well.
