Can y'all even believe we now have 90+ members on the DISchurner's forum?? Crazy! How long ago did @SouthFayetteFan get us going? About a year ago or so? It seems it has worked exactly as it was intended to...support links and more secretive info there...while keeping chatter here.
Yeah - as @Lain said we actually have 186 members right now. The 90+ is just people who subscribed to the sub. I plan on sending out a big message when we hit 200, haha!

Those of you with 2nd and 3rd chase biz cards...how much did you use your first biz card? I have a couple small charges go to DH's CIP monthly. Wondering if that is sufficient.

My first Chase biz card was the CIP with a $16k CL and we use it heavily but pay it off every month. My second was the Marriott Biz that got approved with just a $5k CL. I hit the $3k MSR and haven’t put a cent more on it. But I took the $5k CL approval as a sign that maybe I needed to start lowering my CLs. I made some significant reductions, almost $15k across all cards, and waited for the new CLs to update to the credit reporting agencies, before applying for the CIC. CIC was approved with a $12k CL. Then I noticed Chase increased my Marriott Biz CL to $8k. I trimmed both the CIC and Marriott Biz down to something more sensible. I really do think total credit extended plays a huge part in Chase approvals, much more than utilization, and as long as you keep your CLs (think of it as a proxy for risk) low and space out your applications, you should be fine for approval. I haven’t tested 4 Chase cards with a SSN using this strategy, but I don’t want to push my luck.

I now have two Chase biz cards (CIP & Marriott). I use my CIP all the time. My dh has two Chase biz (CIP & CIC). We never use his CIP.

Basically never. P2 has 3 Chase biz cards (CIP, Marriott, Southwest) all obtained within a few months of each other, and each one had MSR only and was then sock-drawered.

I don't think Chase cares about how much you use their cards at all. They have their approval algorithm, and as long as your credit profile fits what they want, you're good. This is of course just an educated guess from a churner, but as far as I can tell the only banks that care about ongoing usage are Amex and Barclays.

Marriott Biz was my first. I hit the MSR and then quit using it. I now put any Marriott charges on it, but that’s it. Approved for CIP 4 months later.

I have 3 Chase Biz cards as well and DH has 2 (soon to be 3 with the CIP). We closed his SW Biz recently. Essentially, his SW Biz and Marriott Biz did not see another dime put on it following the MSR. For me, my first Chase Biz card was the CIP, and I still put maybe $200-300 on it every month (Plastiq) and occasionally, a Venmo charge if needed. My Marriott hasn't seen any action since the MSR was done and my CIC that I got in May (3 months after the Marriott Biz) is likely going to see reduced spending unless I need to reload on GCs (won't be at the moment since I have a GC stash enough to last a while from promos and MSRs lol).

I will however be testing a fourth Chase Biz card at some point (Nov) if I decide to move forward with trying to get the CP later this year.

I was looking forward to using my CIP for my Verizon bill but found out I would lose a $20/month discount for not using my checking account

I think I remember this... it's from Verizon, reflected immediately on your bill, for using autopay from your checking account. I haven't done it... But for some reason I think I'd read recently about someone who has it set up as autopay from their checking to get the discount, but they actually just go in and make a payment towards the account with a credit card... then the autopay doesn't charge since their account has no balance. I'd forgotten about this so I'm going to investigate

I’m interested too and will do some looking. Let me know if you find anything and I’ll do the same!

Ah ok. Same for us. We are on a family plan with 24gb (I think) and have an employee discount as well.

let us know what you find out.

I believe ours is unlimited. need to investigate...

I don't have Verizon, but instead AT&T. It appears both offer a similar autopay discount from what I hear. Essentially, with AT&T, individual plans gets a $5 monthly discount (family plans are $10/month) if you SETUP autopay. I've been doing what @amalone alluded to, and it has worked smoothly thus far. Essentially, I always overpay my cell phone bill such that it takes place before the next scheduled auto-draft. If there is a zero balance, or negative balance, the auto-draft won't occur, BUT the system appears to just recognize the SETUP of the autopay when applying the discount and not actually taking into account the actual usage of auto-pay. This is the case for AT&T at least. I see the $10 discount off our bill every month, and I've done this for the last 6-7 months I believe. I also have an employee discount attached.

Ok well we are unlimited but I don't see any offer for a discount. I googled and see there was a $5/line discount. Not sure if it is still available... If our kids' watches ($5/mth each) counted as lines (which I think they do b/c they each come with a phone number) that would make them free and our total discount would be the $20/month....2 phones and 2 watches. Hmmnn....need to do more digging.

Yes, this it it. $5/month discount per line on the unlimited plan.

@amalone1013, found this in regards to the hilton gift cards. I am confused on using them for the room rate. Room rate isn't listed, but it technically gets charged to the folio and all billed together with other on property charges. So maybe it works? I am hesitant to buy a bunch until I know.Screen Shot 2018-08-07 at 10.19.58 AM.png

Yes, I did get the 100k MR/$10k offer. Thank you so much for refreshing this self-referral info in one very helpful post. I am off to set up my account now.....

May I ask if you used the phone number that was supposed to stop working a little while ago? Or another method? I didn't apply because I had a new $5000 MSR to get through, but I have most of that done now (thanks to a down payment on a DVC resale contract) and would love to apply if it is still an option. Thanks!

Tagging @1st*toright,

Somewhat related DP that Plastiq has stopped allowing Amex for payments of health insurance premiums because it doesn’t fall under one of their supported categories.

Fingers crossed for your contractor payment.

And a double :badpc::badpc: to the OP who tried to argue with the Plastiq rep by saying he could post Reddit references.
Stop talking about fight club!!!!! :rotfl:

Do you have an invoice? I got the same request but I was paying with CIP. I sent a copy of the actual invoice (new roof) and it went through. I was not aware Amex restricted contractors

Yeah, I got a very nice note back from Plastiq - they would be happy to put my payment through, but has to be on a different card - no contractor payments from Amex. Deciding whether to spend the $$ and put it on the CIP or just abandon plastic and the points but save my $$. Decisions, decisions.

I'm on vacation in the boonies this week with super limited internet access, so its kind of a pain to be dealing with this payment stuff - but I have to say I really appreciate being able to bounce it off you guys - even if the ultimate answer I wound up with sucks, you at least feel my pain.

Fortunately my project hasn't actually been inspected yet, so the contractor doesn't have to get paid for another little while, so I can consider my options. I suppose I could refer DH to the CIP - we did the CSR/CSP double dip for him in May (with these, he is 3/24). His only biz card is the SW Biz, which he got back in October. Do you think it would be too risky to refer him to the CIP?

Question for you experts about the SPG/Marriott merger.
I have an upcoming stay (8/14-8/20) at the Dolphin. (I booked on points under the old points value.)

The big merger is supposed to happen while I’m there on 8/18.

While there, am I better off charging to my SPG Amex, Marriott Rewards card, or my CSP?

I want to get the most bang for my buck points wise.

Thanks in advance!

I think that's a good plan. If you're not spending more than $25k/year at office supply stores and cable/phone/internet, you may as well cancel the Ink+, then sign up for the no fee CIC for the same categories and the 50k UR bonus while you're still under 5/24. Ink+ can generate referrals to the CIP, but you already have a CIP for that.
thanks for the input

Thanks for this DP! I also have AT&T and have kept it on autodraft my checking account because of that discount, which outweighs any benefits from CIP or CIC. I'm going to look into this though. I get the $5 discount and also have a $10 "Customer loyalty" discount which I think I get because I have Directv. It claims I'm getting an employee discount, but I'm not actually sure I am looking at the bill. Which is fine, because they told me over a year ago I would no longer get an employee discount because I changed plans... plus I haven't actually worked at the place I'm eligible for the employee discount for for over two years now... :rolleyes1

Am I clear about this? As of right now, after 8/26 if you don 't have a Marriott/SPG and decide to go SPG route you would not be blocked from any cards in that family?

Adding to my original post: I should note that my SPG Amex has a spend $300 at an SPG hotel get a $60 credit offer.

Figured out why my autopay didn't go through on CSP. They processed the refund I received for my horse show company incorrectly charging my CSP as a payment so they said I don't owe anything. :confused3 Works for me, more money in my bank account lol.

To risk sounding dumb what does it mean to be subscribed to the sub? I am thinking that is not me. Is there a reason I should subscribe? Do you just get emails when someone posts like I do with this thread?
