I love credit cards so much!

I actually just bought one of these using the Amex offer. I think main thing is use right away for fraud prevention. I'll be using the day it arrives to buy Disney GC's from Sam's.

What about the Best Buy SB QR deal? That’s 10% off at BBY vs Sam’s ~4-5% off.

The only option I saw when looking to do this a few months ago was to move the payment due date...which changes the statement close date...but it would not change the current statement due date..in your case in August....just the next one in September
We honestly might just have to go in June. It wouldn’t be our ideal choice but if it’s june or not go I would pick June. I talked to our Airbnb person and she said it’s nice in early june as it warms up. She also said it shouldn’t be too busy.

If I want to go for the SPG biz and the Marriott biz, does it matter which order I apply? Thinking no but want to make sure I'm not missing something.

No, but if you want to hold both you need to get them before the 8/26 changes. After 8/26 holding one prevents you getting the other.

Even though it was 40% off, DH's birthday guitar has now pushed us past the halfway point for the MSR on my CIP, lol. At least he's very happy with it! (it is a very pretty guitar!)

My rent payment with Plastiq is still not showing as completed. @Lain, just to clarify, were you saying a few days ago that the rent money leaves your account and then the payment shows up as "complete" a day or two later? Maybe my property manager is just dragging her feet on depositing the check...ugh, this is stressing me out!

Edit: looking back, it looks like our rent checks have actually been getting cashed on the 3rd or 4th, once the official grace period has ended. So maybe it's just because it's the weekend :confused3

Swalphin help- anyone familiar with the Java Bar? We’re staying Beach Club and I’m having images of my espresso addicted family awake at 7am unable to get to the French bakery in Epcot until 9am... They don’t end well! I need a backup plan! (I once tried a mocha at the AKL QS and it was the most disgusting mocha I’d ever had so want to avoid BC QS pseuedo-espresso bar.) Can you get a semi-decent latte at the Java Bar at Swan? (My bar isn’t high, I swear! Give me a Starbucks and I’m a very happy camper :) ) OH- and can you bring drinks with you on a Friendship Boat to the parks?
We have taken drinks on just not drank them on the boat so that we didn't break any rules

Ok, I feel a little better knowing the double dip has been around for a decent amount of time. I read it is best to attempt it during a weekday in the event you need to call to get the application pushed through. My Disney Visa went through immediately 2 years ago so I think this one would be ok too.

Are there any cons to doing the CIP after the Sapphire double dip? I guess I want to make sure the CIP will benefit me and that I am actually going to go the business card route prior to potentially losing the 2 sapphires. If I went the business route, I would probably only start with the one and see how it played out.
You can do the double dip first. Then wait a few months before doing the CIP. The bonus for the CIP has been at 80k for a while.

I think most do the CIP first bc its 80k for $5000 spend. Plus it doesnt add to your 5/24

I have heard of Plastiq, but need to research it more. That seems like a helpful way to get the rewards.

So while it may not maximize the points as an airline partner, I can still use the UR points to book other travel like JetBlue. I do fly SW when it is a feasible option. Nothing against United, I just typically find better rates with the other airlines. I only have access to the Citi points system since my only Chase card right now is Disney, but are the posted prices through Chase similar to the actual airline websites? Say I watch for the best airfare in my JetBlue app, I can just go into the Chase portal and book for that "price" and use the UR points? Can I also use the UR points to book for other people on my itinerary and not just myself? Definitely helpful, thank you!

I see the benefits and the CIP would be the first Chase

The value in UR points is that they are variable and can either transfer to an airline partner that suits your needs or be used to purchase travel. I've done both with UR. I've transferred 50,000 points to United in order book a $7,000 Paris flight in first class as a saver award. I've also used 180,000 or so UR points to purchase a flight to Iceland up front that was $2900 I didn't want to spend.

Theoretically yes. The times I have searched to compare pricing with what is on the UR site to what is on an airline website it is about the same. I know that it isn't 100% always the same. I recall when i was searching for the Iceland flights out of both FLL and MIA there was one flight that was not the same price on the UR portal as the airline website's pricing. It wasn't a flight I wanted but if it would have been I would have called them up and had them look into the pricing difference.

What do people do with the CIP once they are past the first year? Do they downgrade it, close it, etc? I see the Ink Business Unlimited would give 1.5% back on all purchases so it seems similar to the Freedom Unlimited (I could be missing something).

Those with a mortgage that use Plastiq and their CIP will tend to keep it since they can generate UR points which exceed the annual fee and the Plastiq fee. Someone like me, with no mortgage, would likely product change that card to a no fee Ink Cash card. The Ink Cash (CIC) earns 5x on phone, internet, cable and office supply stores, 2x on gas an restaurants. Office supply store purchases are what generate the bulk of my UR earning because Staples and Office Max sell gift cards. We spend a lot of our vacation budget on Disney. Therefore, we purchase Disney gift cards at office supply stores using the Ink cad for 5x. Between DVC annual dues on 1300 points, a Disney Cruise or 2 each year, annual Adventures by Disney trip, Annual Passes, going to WDW 10 - 20 times per year we generate a lot of UR points with the 5x Disney GC purchases alone. Add Amazon GCs and other 3rd party merchant gift cards plus Visa gift cards when there is a promo and well, you get the picture.

AWWW! I hope you enjoyed running around for that stuff because I see more of that in your future if he liked it. I can’t believe he’s just NINE! What confidence & stage presence!! You are one proud Momma with very good reason- and that outfit definitely brought it all together!

As for getting Disney’s next big star on his next big trip... I’d hit the Chase card first simply because Amex gives cards away like candy. (Unless you get the dreaded pop-up but that appears to be solely Amex related right now.)

Oh my goodness, what a cutie! Such showmanship! You have a future star on your hands.

Thank you :) I am really proud of him! And yes, he had the best time...already asking when he can do another show...:faint:

Lol, ok I need to just pull the trigger on the marriott biz! I'm terrified to actually do it. I'm so scared of a shutdown! It's ridiculous since I've not opened a Chase card in over a year. I should be totally safe!

My building has a resident portal where I can check my account statement. When property management deposits the Plastiq check, it’ll credit to my account. But I might not get an email from Plastiq informing me that the check’s been deposited until a few days later. I always check my account around the 1st to see if it’s credited.

It could be your property manager is holding on to all the checks to deposit them in batches or at once. My office does that occasionally too, and I might not see payment credited until the 3rd (and once the 4th). It might help to give her a heads up that you’re using a new bill payment service called Plastiq to try to streamline your regular payments, and to be on the lookout for checks from them on your behalf.
