I love credit cards so much!

Not entirely sure we comply with the 5/24 Chase rule right now. But tempted to try a SW card for free flights w/ bonus. But the card doesn't seem worth it to keep LT for someone who flies once/yr. Do we instead shoot for a Saphire and if yes, is it worthwhile for us infreq. travelers to keep it..

honestly, i don't think the SW cards fit your usefulness. The only reason someone would get SW card is if they book SW a lot or they are going for a CP. If your only traveling once or twice a year, the earning power on a Ultimate Rewards card is a lot better. Sapphire Reserve is probably the next best card you can look at. Theres re other great programs out there as well. Once you start getting into this game, you should think bigger. Like a trip to europe or a trip to Asia. churning will help you achieve this goal far easier than you can imagine.

I think I have 4 and wife 5 but don't know if I did auth. cards too. I did think of trying to get a credit report this am... went to Transunion and didn't see where you get it for free (just the 19.99 report). I called a Chase Branch and they didn't see any prequalify cards for me, but I also don't have accts. Wife has a Freedom (forget to mention) and I think she can look up tonight if she has any card offers to maybe see if she'd qualify. Chase employee said the Saphire never appears in the pre-qualify though, and doesn't mean that you wouldn't be approved. Saw a listing that excluded Disney cards from the 5/24 rule but SWA and Saphire cards had the rule. Guess it might be easier to just take the small hit and apply for one once I decide which.

BTW, have you seen anything on F&W concert listings yet. Seem to remember it came like in June. But I hear of leaked schedules already. We're only hitting it on the 1st day of F&W 8/31.

Transunion should have free credit reports that you can request for once a year. Are you sure chase in your state pulls from transunion? Some states like California pull from experian. If Transunion is used, sign up for credit karma as they pull reports from transunion and equfax. if your already at 5/24 or 4/24, how long before the next card get dropped off? I would probably wait to get some chase cards then. If your wife has a Freedom card, its a great chance for her to try to maximize the category now, so that when u do get a sapphire card, those Freedom card points can be transferred over to your Sapphire card. Last thing to point out is that if your at 4/24, you should be able to apply for 2 chase cards at once, pushing you up to 6/24. There are a lot of data points of this working. Just remember you need to make sure you can make the minimums or else you lose out on a big grip of points.

DH applied for the Business Ink card and about 5 days after we got the card, the first statement came! The only thing on it was the $95 annual fee. Is that going to count toward one of our months to hit the $5000 spend? We would easily hit it with 3 FULL billing cycles, but I don't know now!

For personal cards, if you get a pending approval notification when applying, you can call right away and talk to a real person. It's suggested not to do that for business apps though, unless you have a real business and not "a business". :)
Thanks peel. Do you mean that people somehow figure out how to enter credentials to obtain popular business cards like Ink without actually having a business? Guess I shouldn't be naïve. I started reading an interesting tread on creating a phantom MDE with a bought/borrowed separate MB to get 3 additional FP's at kiosks. Not that I think the secondary FP's are completely unethical. I'm just sort of curious how many fanatics have been doing these loophole tricks (i.e. throwaway resorts).

Have you seen the accountant? There is a scene in particular thats similar idea... :]

Did u sell something? you did!? i say, thats a business! :P

It looks like I'm at 5 plus some AU's. Seen a site that said that 5 may or may not pass. But even if I don't get a Chase card for this Aug trip (have a card falling off 24 mo's on 7/25), still sounds like they may be better than the Amex/Citi rewards without 5/24. So you have to go through and get denied first online and then call. Thanks.
5 won't pass, you have to be under it. http://www.doctorofcredit.com/chase-524-rule-explained-detail-need-know/

Personally I was at 5/24 and denied. I HUCAd a few times because the 5th account was an AU account and finally a rep reviewed my app without the AU account, bringing me to 4/24 and then I was approved.

Secure Message Chase through the Chase portal and ask how long you have to reach the minimum spend. They'll tell you the exact date.

(The $5000 spend shouldn't be based on stmt cycles, did it say statement cycles or 90 days when you signed up? In my experience it was actually closer to 110 days to reach the spend because Chase adds some extra time for the card to be mailed to you.)

ETA: looks like the offer actually says 3 months, you should be totally fine. But definitely send them the SM for your peace of mind :)

Thanks for credit reports link. I knew the AU's count towards the Chase 5/24, and I've heard that closed accounts still count too. But you canceled the AU's for DH and was approved. Maybe AU closures aren't treated the same as newer credit cards that were closed (but opened within 24mo's), or did you have to talk to a rep to ask not consider the AU's to get approval.
DH first called the automated line then was mailed a denial for too many accounts. I removed him as AU then he called the recon line, talked to 2 reps, spent 30 minutes on the phone. Giant time suck. I would rather just remove AU before trying.

You can use a personal SS# for many small businesses. We have 1 rental property, no profit, and applied for business about & were approved. Personally it makes me a bit uncomfortable but we didn't lie.

In IL it's TransUnion.

Thank you Albort. What does CP stand for? companion pass? I started to glance at the Delta cards and Venture (again for my novice $400 bonus card flipping), looked at that Starwood card everyone seems to like (I don't understand the appeal), but it sounds like you like the CSR for me. Is CSR better than CSP for me with the $300 travel to offset the $450 AF into $150... as long as I continue to go to WDW 1/yr., accumulate pts. for a Europe trip someday? Or is CSP better because we don't travel more than 1/yr or spend that much for that matter. And maybe get either a Freedom or Ultimate Freedom to move points. The BOA cash rewards I think is actually 5.25% on groceries (3% normal + .75% bonus) and the BOA Travel is 2.625% on all purchases with my 75% platinum honors.

7/25 will be the next card drop off, assuming non credit cards like autos don't count (think so). I would also have to call and get the auth user cards removed from consideration after denial. But with that 7/25 being so close to our 8/24 trip, we're thinking of continuing on original plan to drive from IL to FL and maybe wait to see if Christmas or something there is another 100k or more than 50k bonus on the Sapphires. So if you apply for 2 on same day, the 2nd one being over the 5/24 doesn't count or maybe have to apply at a branch to do a simultaneous app.

Funny you mention Accountant... I have it sitting at home after just checking out from Library (will be sure to think about what you said when watching it). I thought that the business cards ask for things like a EID# to help thwart. Huh.

There are full-time sole proprietorship operations (small businesses) with no EIN. Therefore requiring an EIN when at the same time catering to small businesses could be self-defeating for the bank.

Are you driving from LV? How long?

The lodges inside the park, at the rim, book up a year in advance. Planning to make ressie's for June 2018 trip next week. But it looks so cool & I've never been, nor has DS obviously
We booked at 14 hour bus tour on an air conditionied coach with pick up and drop off at our hotel, breakfast and lunch included and 3 hours at the Canyon with stops in Williams AZ and other points on Route 66.

Yes, CP means Companion pass. Starwood card is one of the best cards when it comes to transfers. i think its got like 12 different airlines that you can do so. CSR is better than CSP. You should keep your option open for the CSP as it will help gain 55k points for you. but since your at the 5/24 area, it might happen waaaay down the road. Ive heard about BOA's card + Bonus, i think my aunt does that but its all cash back correct? If you want to think of it by points, Freedom earns u 5x, then when u transfer to CSR and onto chase's portal, CSR+portal give u 1.5x more value so Freedom points turn into 7.5x. :P

Yes, its at the very beginning of the movie. You don't need EIN number. I applied for a Ink+ with just my Social Security. If you do apply for an Ink preferred, make sure u go through a referral link.

Yes the BOA's are just stmt. credits/gift cards. I still don't end up using them much because I'm busy doing the initial bonus req. purchases on new cards. of course. I'm sure a lot of people have sticker shock on the $450 AF for CSR and go to CSP if they aren't big travelers. It would be good to have both of those big bonuses. Thanks for the advice!

good pt. I guess tech. wife has a (AVON type) small business. Never considered the bus. cards before as options.

Your wife's small business would be a legitimate business. The banker at Chase told me that simply selling on eBay is considered a business, even if I don't sell much or often :)

We got the Ink 2 months ago and exact same thing happened. I just secured messaged them and received a reply with the exact date. Unexpectedly we ended up meeting the minimum spend way before the July date, but the UR points bonus did not post until a couple weeks later. I have since read that if you meet the minimum spend too quickly they might wait a cycle to give them to
