I love credit cards so much!

Thanks to you guys I dipped my toes in the business credit card world. I did the Amex GBR and got autoapproved. I know I might have been able to call in for a higher sign up but I wasn’t comfortable speaking to a rep. So @wendow I used your referral link...
I debated between that and the Hilton and the Blue preferred. Hope I made a good choice!!!

Congratulations!

You might want to consider using your new BGR to refer yourself for the Biz Green before 8/8/18 for another 20k MR.

Check @SBWB48 's, @Angrose 's and my posts to @wendow above.

Since the Biz Green is another Amex business card, which won't report to your credit reports or count against 5/24, and because the Biz Green only requires you to make a single purchase (no minimum) to trigger the signup bonus, and has no annual fee in the first year, there's essentially no cost to pick up 20k MR (and maybe another 20k MR for P2).

Yep, I did the Biz Green self-referral a while ago, when it first popped up, because I figured Amex would kill that quickly. Kind of surprising they haven't yet. I don't have a Biz Plat though, just a BRG, so it was 10k for the referral instead of 20k. But I'll take it.

Now the question is, how far does the rabbit hole go? Could you self-refer for multiple Biz Greens and get the referral points? You won't get the Biz Green bonus obviously, but that's not the valuable part. I'm not trying this myself, but it's an interesting thought experiment.

Here's a fun fact for my ebay listings: This time I put USPS and Fedex as the shipping options... both people's addresses came up with Fedex being lower this time :confused3 One is CA and one VA.

Wow, 10k spend for the biz Plat!?! I just don't think I can do it. I just got the Amex BBP so still have 2k on that. How are you guys doing this? MS? Even if I could get my mortgage through, which I did with all our SPG's, I'm still not sure.

Myself and @Lain are the only crazy kids to have gotten it here (so far...). I’ll mix in some MS likely along the lines of 4-5K similar to what I did for the Spark Biz that also had a 10K MSR and prepay a couple more things.

The referrals are capped at 55K so in theory for the Biz Plat, 2 other referrals after self-referring is all you could try for?

So I have finally formulated a plan that non-disney loving DH :crazy2: and I can both be happy with. I had to present them together so he could see the whole picture. If I presented one at a time he would've stopped listening as soon as I said mickey's boat. :sad2:

So he begrudgingly agreed to the DCL dec cruise that I had found on the *GT rate because it is followed by a ski trip to Breckenridge for spring break. Win for me. Win for him. Whoop!

So the cruise is about $8500 or 566k URs. I have around 450k URs and another 50k pending. I can't wait for those to post though, since this rate could disappear at any minute. So I will pay $1750 out of pocket, and refund myself by cancelling my Alaska may cruise. So that money has already been spent for awhile now since I gave it to DCL on our last sailing.
I will book flights on SW with points we already have. Hopefully we will add on a day at MK before or after the cruise. I will have to rack up some more points to book that and discounted GC for tickets.
I have bank bonus money to spend on excursions, tips, etc.

For the ski trip....I am going to do the Doubletree Breckenridge. They boys and DH can walk to the lift as it is across the street. I can wander through the shops in town there with DD3 when she gets sick of falling (errr skiing). Hotel on hilton points and flights can be booked in August on release day via southwest.

I will be canceling Alaska for 2019, but we are now moving during that time anyways, and with DD being so young it is probably best to hold off on that for a bit. Maybe I will book a placeholder onboard in Dec to hold Alaska 2020.

Whoohooo! Finally a plan I can live with, is mostly or possibly all FREE, and everyone gets something they like! All 4 of the kids love mickey's boat as much as I do, and the 2 youngest will celebrate their bdays onboard...3 and 9! How exciting! Thank you all for your help and guidance...couldn't have done this without you!!!

Now I just have to call and book that cruise when DH is around to give the UR people permission. They aren't open on Saturdays in cruise/tours are they??
I love it when a plan comes together!

I think I’m going to go for the Biz Plat tomorrow. I’m only currently working on the Citi Biz. (Still hasn’t arrived yet though) I wanted to focus more on just MSing this month, like using giftcardmall with the CIP and maxing the Amex offers, but I’ll try and do both. I’m not really doing anything right now except job hunting.

Now do I have SO go for this too? Both of us going for the plats and BGR would mean 30k MSR in three months plus the 2.5k I have for the citi Biz. That’s going to Walmart everyday for at least two months and getting an MO with a VGC. Back in February/March I did some crazy MS, but it is exhausting. What do you guys think?

So, I’ve just started using Plastiq and got a couple of payments set up, including my student loan payment. However, when I set up my car loan payments, it is rejecting it saying it is a mortgage payment. Is there any way around this?

If you don't have a mortgage set up on your acct and you're ok with eyes on your acct, just message them and ask them to manually approve it. It took a day for me to get mine approved.

How To Get A 100,000 Point Offer For The AmEx Platinum Business Card - DoC

This call-in offer popped up again earlier this week with a lot of successful DPs on reddit, and @SBWB48 and me here getting approved for it. This is one of the best offers on the Biz Plat. People usually have to call in with a RSVP code, or BS and see if they're targeted in the system for this offer. From what we can tell, this offer is available to anyone who calls in, and the ~15 mins call is actually quite easy if you have your story and numbers ready. Rumor is this offer runs until the end of this month. The current public offer on the Biz Plat is "up to" 100k MR after a tiered MSR totaling $25k in 3 months, so $10k in 3 months for the same 100k MR is a lot less.

As for how I'll manage it, cost of living in SF. I'll need to sideline my CIP off Plastiq for the next 3-4 months as I'm trying to hit this and other MSRs, but our haul should be pretty awesome. Crossing my fingers 3x Plastiq on the CIP is still going strong when I finish the MSRs on this and other cards.

I floated the idea of using Amex cards to buy $500 MCGCs with a 1.19% fee to load into Masterpass for no fee payments up to $250 each through Plastiq until 9/30/18. I'm pretty sure this will work because I've seen discussion of it on reddit. And because there are no meaningful restrictions on payments using MasterCard, you might want to suspend your CIP payments to your recipient, set up a new payment to your mortgagor’s info already in Plastiq's system as a new recipient and pay in $250 increments using Masterpass. I’m going to try this with our student loans, which I can’t otherwise pay with an Amex.

If you’re sure you can’t hit another $10k in MSR, you can still refer yourself to the Biz Green from your BGR. However, a referral from the BGR is only 10k MR per referral, but you’ll get 5k MR from the Biz Green after you make your first purchase (no minimum), and there seems to be a quirk on the Biz Green that double credits another 5k MR bonus. The AF on the Biz Green is waived for the first year, so you can get a total of 20k MR for no cost (and no effect on 5/24) by referring yourself to the Biz Green from your BGR.

Follow the below instructions, but obviously the 20k MR will be 10k MR on your BGR, and you should see the Biz Green and Biz Plat at the bottom.

Good luck!

Ugh I am seriously tempted to do this (the BGR and Green). I have the Biz Plat that I had planned to cancel earlier this year but kept despite a lame retention offer. Honestly the one thing that is holding me back is having to explain all these cards to AmEx when I call to cancel them. I guess I could just say I overestimated how much business credit I needed. I have seven AmEx cards already -- how many is too many?!

This would actually be a good time to have a new MSR since miraculously, after four kids and four colleges, finally my DS's grad school takes credit cards for tuition with no fee.
