I love credit cards so much!

Here's an FYI I just discovered. Apologies if it has already been covered. I noticed that there were two different Chase Southwest credit cards. I have the premier and tried to open the Plus version to get the extra bonus points. They would not allow me to open the Plus card because I already have the other card. So THAT was a bummer!

Determined to get some bonus points I discovered if you open a Chase Sapphire card you can get 50,000 bonus points which you can transfer to your Southwest rewards account (1:1 ratio). The down side is you have to spend 4,000 to get the points but our trip is more than that so that stipulation works for. Oh yeah flyin' free again!:dancer:

when did you open the premier?

Did you all see it was nominated for 14 Emmy's... I'm excited for season 2.

I binge watched the whole season on my ipad while traveling for business - had to close the screen quick a couple of times, and glad I had ear buds in for some of the language, but its a fantastic show. Rachel whatsername is awesome - my DH wouldn't believe me that it was the same actress from house of cards, she seems so different in this show.

booking yes. but my mentioning is on the Companion Pass. if you earn 110k Southwest Points, u are able to obtain a year long Companion Pass, which if you fly, u can get a free ticket for your SO/kid to fly for free.
The transfer from CSP--> SW will not count towards that 110k points... you can still transfer the points over to book southwest flights though. It used to be u have to go from CSP-->Marriott Points --> Southwest for the points to count towards the 110k Companion Pass, but that was shut downed.

Hope that helps explain things.

DH and I have done one cruise and we were bored. I think I would like to try another before writing them off completely. I’m sure it depends on the ship. We were on a smaller Carnival. I liked the ports, but we felt like there was not a lot to do on the boat itself. I think I would like it more with friends also. We are a pretty boring couple. Lol

This was us on Royal Caribbean and on Carnival ... bored out of our mind. DCL was way different. We got to know people via social media dedicated to Disney Cruises before our cruise. Once we got on board it was like traveling with friends. We did become friends with a large number of people on the cruises are friends today. We regularly cruise and vacation with them too. We’ve now been on 19 Disney Cruises with number 20 booked for next year.

When did you app for the Sapphire? If it was today, then go in an app for the other sapphire today as well. You can only get both sapphires if you app on the same day.

ETA: The rules in this game are constantly changing, so always pay attention to the date on the articles you find, and verify on this thread as backup. :)

Yes I applied today and I think I got the Preferred card. I'll have to double check now. If not i will apply for it pronto!

I see thanks for clarifying that. I have the preferred card so I am good in that department.

OT, but does anyone have any food recommendations for a 15 year old at Disney world. I'm taking my little sister in a few weeks. We will only be there for two days. Normally, SO and I like to sit down meals and eat at signature restaurants, but that's not her style. She also does not want to meet characters. She has only been to Disney once when she was 6. She was too short for Rock n Roller Coaster, so her one request is to ride that lol. I'll take any recommendations for quick service or table service restaurants in any park (we should be going to all four), but we won't have time at Disney Springs or the resorts. I think maybe we should do quick service to save time, but I haven't found anything that great. Any fun recommendations for a teen and a picky eater? Oh, and I have asked her, but I get a I don't know or I don't care response lol. Also, I guess this is kinda related because I used points for the flights, room, and her two day park hooper ticket lol.

Honestly I would just see where you are at in the park when you are hungry and figure it out from there. The menus are on the app. I find it harder to plan QS because you have to try and be in a certain area when you are ready to eat. I don't do many ADR's so there's not a ton of planning when to be where around them. Coloumbia Harbor House is good in MK. She can always order off the kids menu too so that opens up options.

Bank bonus pros-

My ally to suntrust coded "electronic payment/ACH ally bank." Is that going to work for DD?

It all depends on how it codes on Suntrust's side, which you can't see. Did you register at offers.suntrust.com? If you did, give it about 1-2 weeks and see if your status changes. Then you'll know.

What does she like to eat? My dd15 is my pickiest eater but none of my others have a picky bone in their body so even the 15yo is not picky compared to some kiddos.

In MK, my dd15 likes BOG lunch or Pecos Bill's nachos or fajita platter. She does not like CHH or Cosmic Ray's.
In EP, she likes the norway bakery ham, apple & cheese sandwich. And she loves their pretzels (as do I!!).
In DHS, she pretty much just eats cupcakes lol. None of us really care for CS there so we tend to snack more. We tend to eat at ABC Commissary and that is about the only burger she eats the entire trip.
In AK, she loves the fried rice at Yak & Yeti and the salad at Pizzafari. She is a salad girl so she'll order one anywhere she can.

The only TS we do are at resorts or character meals so I'm no help there.

Thanks for the suggestions! I maybe over thinking this. I normally plan all my meals and this is probably going to be different. I’d love to go to California Grill and Le Cellier but she only tolerates steak and wouldn’t really enjoy eating that. She is picky but will probably be able to find something off a kids menu. She eats chicken fingers, grilled cheese, tacos, burgers, pizza, salad, orange chicken so maybe yak and yeti would be good. She probably actually isn’t that picky for a kid lol. I wanted to do unique things with her so she has a good time, but now thinking about it my parents won’t be around and if all she wants to eat is cupcakes and mickey bars for dinner I should let her and not be so uptight. Mom doesn’t need to know lol.

I opened the Preferred card a few hours ago.

I would also apply for the Reserve card today too. Like the Southwest cards you can only have one Sapphire you get around this by opening the two cards on the same day. You would get both bonuses. If you need help meeting the minimum spend for both cards let us know and we can provide some ideas.

She might like the belly dancers at Marrakesh! We certainly got a kick out of that. Also we like the ambiance of Mexico. It's a little dark but the themeing is great.

The bolded :D I'm very strict with my kid's diets at home but at Disney, all rules are gone for them and me. They still end up eating food but I try to indulge them in Mickey bars, pretzels, cupcakes, popcorn, etc. YOLO and they only get to go to Disney once a year!

Thanks! I didn’t even know they had belly dancers at Marrakesh. That sounds like it would be fun.

Sam’s Club Membership Deal $35 ($25 In Sam’s Club Giftcards + $18 In Food Items) - DoC

Good deal for those like me who aren't already Sam's Club members and have several Amex Offers for Samsclub .com ($15 off $50) to use in the next 13 days or so. I doubt I'll ever step foot into a Sam's Club (too far), but I keep reading about discounted Disney Gift Cards and I want in. It's an effective $10 fee, but I'll make my money back in savings.

I'd add that Groupon e-gift cards are available on Gyft, which earns 3x UR on CIP and 5x UR on CIC. (Walmart e-gift cards, which can be used at Sam's Club, are also available on Gyft.) I purchased a $35 Groupon e-gift card on Gyft, redeemed it to my Groupon account, and it automatically applied against the $35 Sam's Club fee.
Good to know about Groupon being on Gyft. I would have never thought to check and I purchase offers several times a year through them.

That's bananas. As protective as Amex is of that Platinum, and especially the 100k offer, I'm impressed you pulled it!

I was stunned I did as well, especially the second time around lol. Told myself if I could pull it a second time, I was pulling the trigger. Fate? :rotfl:

Thanks for putting into a different perspective for me! Saw it on DOC this morning, but just brushed it aside since we just don't venture to Sam's Club (the one closest to us is 20 min away and :scared1: when we went once to get something Costco was sold out of). Forgot we had the Amex offer on 5 cards AND leftover Groupon bucks from something that I've been struggling to use, so this is perfect! :thanks:

This maybe the way to go. My mom freaks when she finds out I let my siblings get fries instead of salads at fast food places, but oh well. How much damage can she do in two days right?
