I love credit cards so much!

Yes. Did it last night. Add the card. Use the code. The card gets emailed and the promotional code for $5 gets added in a few days since they don't want you using it on their prime day deals (and getting a bigger discount).

Thanks! I was thinking that might be the case.

Most, if not all, Amex Offers have an enrollment limit. Popular Amex Offers (think any store that sells third-party gift cards, e.g., Best Buy, Staples, Lowe's, Home Depot, Bed Bath & Beyond, etc.) get snatched up fast, so you need to add it to all your cards (using multi-tab, multi-browser trick) ASAP, or they'll fill up and disappear.
I had no idea they would disappear! I had the Best Buy one in my card yesterday but did not add an de now it is gone:crazy2::sad2:

when DH is busy hauling our luggage around while I file my nails, I tell him that I used my brains to get us there, and now he's using his brawn to do his part of the deal!:rotfl2: he literally throws some clothes in a suitcase on the night before we leave to go somewhere...... we all have a role.....:cool1:
My DH is the over organized packer. He hates the way I pack. I don’t fold things correctly, I don’t cram enough stuff in his size 13 shoes, etc. I pack DSs stuff, pull out all the clothes I need and put them in a pile. DH packs his clothes and mine (we usually use 1 suitcase) I mostly pack all the toiletries with DH asking every 5 minutes did you pack this, did you pack that etc. But he gets to carry/roll the big suitcase.

If the hockey tournament dates are anything like they were years ago when my kids were playing they usually started the day after Christmas...but each year was a bit different depending on the day of the week Christmas was.

Have they started practice yet, could you ask the coach or team manager what tournaments they are going to attend...I was always the team manager and we could have to book tournaments way in advance so the team didn’t get shut out..also some coaches always did Thanksgiving and Christmas tournaments...others avoided the major holidays...going to Labor Day, Columbus Day and President week tournaments

They have started just an optional Friday morning practices and the real practices start at the beginning of August. There is a new thing this year...last weekend of July, all squirt teams in the SYTHL are req’d to attend a leveling tournament. They want to make sure really good teams aren’t playing down and less skilled teams aren’t trying to play up, etc. So the coach said after that, they have a coaches meeting in august (all teams in the SYTHL I think) and then we will know more about the tournament schedule. They did say we won’t play tournaments at Christmas or Thanksgiving, as they value family time more at this age. I was more worried about the weekend of 12/15. I know our first games are Labor Day weekend. No tourney info yet though. Season ends in late March I think. We are first year squirts. Last year, as mites we were limited travel, so this is all new to me.

ETA: not knowing anything is making it super hard to plan vacations most of the year. Fall break, weekend before thanksgiving, weekend before Christmas, Presidents’ Day, spring break, etc are all during the season. :headache:

Anything I should know before I fill out this Citi Biz app? Any requirements on business revenue or anything?

For those of us that do bank bonuses, it seems Ally pushes are not triggering for me anymore. The clue was DPs of M&T Bank bonuses posting the next day after meeting requirements. Salem Five also did not post with an Ally push. So now, I'm trying to move money around to my Schwab brokerage and try that as a push, which is... inconvenient. Hopefully, that will work.

Ut oh. I just used an ally push for suntrust. Recent DP said works. Guess I will wait and see and try a push from somewhere else if necessary.

DH loves Disney, maybe not as much as me, I always try to get his input and he never has any suggestions, so we keep going back to Disney.

This is my DH too. For a bit he was all "I want to go other places, I don't want to just go to Disney." And then before we took our Asheville trip this spring he was like "can't we cancel that and go to Disney instead?"

I think we've now worked out that our optimal time without a Disney park in our lives is about 1 year. By that point we really want to go back again, and it doesn't feel like we were just there. We went in April 2015, January 2016, August 2017, and will go back in less than two weeks. Fitting WDW in this November was kind of aberrant as really that was supposed to be a Universal trip. We already have it planned so that we'll go back to WDW in September 2019, Tokyo Disney in August 2020, and DH has already informed me that he wants WDW in 2021 for the 50 year celebration.

This is pretty much our situation, too. I wouldn't say he loves it as much as I do, but he likes our Disney trips and really enjoys the them while we are there. He has no interest in planning beyond a few minutes each on hotel choice/ADRs/FPs. No other suggestions from him on travel destinations, so I plan what appeals to me. The only thing he said no to was a the Alaska DCL cruise. It crossed his cost threshold. I will say that I don't normally tell him what our trips cost (he prefers not to know and he enjoys it more when he doesn't), but I did in this case so I guess I was really asking for rejection. Now I am working on my strategy for getting him on-board for more DVC points via resale. I would have to do quite a bit of churning to "make up" for that purchase!

Yeah, DH doesn't ever really ask anything about what it costs. He listens to me babble about couponing and churning and discounts enough that he knows wherever we're going, I've somehow gotten us a discount for it. As long as there aren't beaches or boats involved, he'll eventually get on board with whatever I've planned lol.

DS is playing travel soccer this year but I’m not forgoing family vacations for games etc. I mean we won’t purposefully miss anything but if I decide on a vacation, we’re going. Travel soccer isn’t as much travel as hockey though, from my understanding. Our soccer coaches are good about making sure it’s still fun. More competitive with the teens. That said there are no penalties for missing games or practices although kids who didn’t show for practice all week might not get as much game time (however at DSs age, they guarantee at least 50% game time) As for schedule, we already started preseason training and no schedule yet except to know we are hosting a tournament August 18.

Yeesh, I go on a Netflix binge last night and come back to five pages from you guys :rotfl:

Plastiq charged my CIP this morning for my student loan payment, so that should be the last thing I need to put my CIP over $5000. I'll see if my 80k URs show as pending next week and then call in to Chase to get my extra 20k applied.

I'm going to apply for the Citi AA biz here in a few since I'll be leaving to go out of town again for a horse show tomorrow morning. I'll have internet access, but am likely to forget what with everything else going on.

As to SOs and vacations, I've finally gotten DH on track for going to Arizona next April. All I had to do was talk about it what I wanted to do repeatedly until last night he blurted out "when we go to Phoenix next year, I want to go to this BBQ restaurant." :rotfl2: Success... now I need to plan out how I want these flights to work/accumulate some more hotel and rental car points.
Don’t miss Sedona and the Grand Canyon!

Please do report back! The nice thing is, with SunTrust you have that offers website. So you'll know if it worked or not in a couple weeks at most.

I've been trying to keep notes of all the things I'm learning LOL, but I don't have a note on this...should your total credit card limits be only a certain percentage of your income? Not balances, but just the total limits? And if that's the case, is it just mine or just my husbands income or total household income?

Thanks for the replies about vegas hotels, hopefully going to decide today if the trip is a go and get a reservation... I'll probably pay cash or look through the UR portal, I have marriott/starwoods points but thought I remember there aren't many good options with them close to the strip.

No new Amex offers for me this AM yet. Everyone have a good day, I have to get moving to a very busy day at work!

theres a westin that sits behind the linq/Flamingo thats a quick walk to the strict. I stayed there once, no parking fee but does have a resort fee. Pretty nice rooms too. If your looking at paying cash, one of my favorite hotels is Treasure Island. Its pretty cheap compared to the rest of the strip. the $20 trick works there too.

Anyone know how this buy $25 Amazon GC, get a $5 credit is supposed to work? I purchased the $25 and put in the promo code and sent it to myself, but I'm not seeing the $5 anywhere. Maybe it doesn't show up yet?

it says it will show up in a few days. It will trigger on your next purchase from amazon.com though so its not like u can use it on anything u want.

generally, u should ad total household income. i believe banks limit you to 50% of your total income. u yourself shouldnt pass 30% of your credit limit too.

I think Chase is the most stingy with credit limits. They don’t like extending more than 50% of household income. When extending they look at what you have available so far, but will consider your entire household income. Let’s say you make 50,000 and your husband makes 50,000. You have 25,000 extended to you and your husband has 25,000 extended to him. You should still be able to get another 25,000 in credit extended to you. Also, this is YMMV some people get more than 50% extended to them with Chase.

Definitely! Very tentative plans would be fly into Tuscon, drive up through the state spending time in Phoenix/Flagstaff/Grand Canyon, hitting different parks, and then maybe try to take a different route back to Tuscon.
We've done GC twice now...so our plan is a quick 5 night trip to se Page AZ area. I've been wanting to get there for a while now... Love this area of the country..red rocks are my thing! just trying to decide which airport works best for SWA...I guess either Vegas or PHX are about 4 hours drive....

DH got an offer from Citizens Bank...$400 for opening a checking account with ONE direct deposit over $1,000. These banks make it too easy..
That's awesome. Mine was 200 for $500 deposit, haven't seen a targeted one higher yet so I broke down and did it since they take CC funding up to 1k. I hoping that means sometime in the next few months they'll target us for the higher offer, because that's just my luck a better offer usually comes later, and I'll figure out how to get hubby to do it :)

I don't want anyone to gasp at what I'm about to say :-). I'm trying to help my daughter out. She has a credit card with about a $7,000 balance and yes, she's paying significant interest on that every month. I'm hoping she could do a balance transfer to another card with 0% interest for XXX number of months. On Credit Karma her credit score is reported as fair (but high fair; close to good). She pays her bills every month, but she's in her early 20's and this is really her only credit card so I assume that plays into the credit score. Anyhoo, can anyone recommend what kind of credit card you think she would have good odds of being approved for that would give her that introductory balance transfer offer?

what does this mean?

Marriott and SPG award categories are changing 8/1. If your award reservation is at a hotel where the points required to book are going down, you can call into Marriott after 8/1 to get the extra points refunded.

...and that you don't have to worry about availability to do so b/c they won't cancel and rebook a new ressie...just apply the new cost. I know some people were worried they could only get the lower cost if there was still points availability for their dates.

what is a VGT rate?

verandah guarantee. They also do interior and Oceanview GT. It is a restricted fare...in my case it will save us $4k for this particular sailing. We have done it once before. They are generally last minute, although this one is not. You pay in full at booking and can make no changes or cancellations (except I have read you can upgrade if you booked IGT or OGT to a VGT etc) and you can't choose your room. For us, it doesn't guarantee connecting rooms, but for $4k I will take the gamble. Worst case dd19 gets a nonconnected room to herself. Last time we did get connecting though. They fantasy and dream have lots of connecting so it is more likely than on the wonder/magic.

My DH always says 'don't tell me what it costs' in regards to our trips. :P

We did both travel soccer AND travel hockey last year. Both for the same kid. Our soccer coach was super family friendly if you needed to miss. I discussed hockey with him at the beginning of the season b/c for 2 months the practices overlapped. We aged up in hockey this year so it will be more time consuming and more serious, though I bet they won't freak if we miss one weekend.
