I love credit cards so much!

Do I lose my current rewards? Is that card churnable?
No you don't lose it. They will read you a ton of disclosures before you PC. I'd ask them this question again just for clarification before you PC. Also when I downgraded, they also asked me to take advantage of zero percent APR for two years or a no fee balance transfer.

Ok, I applied for the CIP using one of you guys' link from Reddit. Pretty cool how we can help each other out that way. Here's hoping I get approved without any extraneous questions about my "business". Seriously though, I need to sell some stuff. Along those lines, something I learned a few years back: Playmobile holds its value really well. We've gotten most of our money back reselling ours after the kids outgrew it.

Oh good, we have some of that laying around too.

Lots of toys and books seem to hold value...if your girls have American Girl dolls or outfits I did really well selling my daughters AG doll clothing....kept the doll and one outfit....my daughter is 27 and all the outfits were “retired” so actually sold them for more than the cost.

I’m now looking at selling my old barbies and clothing....all are from the early 60’s...so doing a lot of research

And plenty of AG stuff laying around from DD19...

We had 4 day PH'ers and still didn't get to do everything we wanted! And that was all-day touring, from open to close, other than one day leaving for a couple hours during the day and one night we left a bit before close.

Hopefully, some of the LMT codes are still working for you!

How long would you recommend for us?

Good thinking! Except...my AF hit and I PC'ed to the no-AF BCE :o I don't even have my new card yet. I just did it a couple days ago. Even the 3% would be better than other options...especially combined with fuel rewards...!

ETA: I guess I could change the card back if that ends up being the best way to pay.

I don't know what card you use for gas (probably Freedom this quarter, amirite?) but if gas isn't a category bonus on your cards, I reliably get 6% cash back on gas when I fill up at King Soopers (aka Loaf N Jug, or whatever your Kroger store is in your geographical location). I have a reloadable KS gift card* that I use my BCP to reload (getting 6% cash back and no fees to do this) and I use that gift card to pay for groceries and gas. Looking forward to redeeming fuel points tonight at $1off/gal, woohoo lol!

*DD's school gets 5% of the money I load on there, I had to get it directly from the school and not KS. I know you homeschool so this doesn't apply for you, but others might look into it for their public school.

So jealous of all of you acquiring so many points!! I am currently in burn mode until March 2019 when I will be 3/24. Until then, I will live vicariously through ya'll.
Don't cry for me too much though, as we have multiple trips planned and paid for with points. Rehoboth Beach DE this weekend (Hyatt free nights), Washington DC for my birthday (Fairmont card free nights and status), WDW in August (MNSSHP), WDW in November (Food and Wine), NYC in April ( seeing Hamilton, using Wyndham free night to stay with a trip the next day to Las Vegas to see Bryce and Zion NP).

At that time, I plan to get back in the game to build my stash back up!

your only option is call and plead your case. Ask them to look past your AUs if you believe those are the reasons it is stopping you from getting it.
if they say no, HUCA(hang up, call again) tomorrow. try a few times, if this does not work, dispute the closed card on your credit report. then apply again after the app drops.

Ha, thanks. I am hesitant to call and plead my case as I already was nervous I didn't have a strong enough business to justify the CIP. At this point I would be happy to just move to plan B which was double-dip the CSR and CSP, so I am wondering if I should try and get them removed from my credit report. But how do I do that?

Alternatively, are there non-Chase cards I should just go for instead? And try to get on the Chase game after my #/24 goes down a little?

I just put in the request to transfer DH's SPG points to my account. Once that hits, then I transfer to my Marriott account and then I can book a Nights and Flight package? For me I think it's worth the gamble because I care most about the 100,000 RR points that I'll get. I don't really have a specific hotel in mind that I'm hoping to use the certificate for, so if they return the points to me, that's great, but I think we'll find a use for the certificate as well.

Also, would it make sense for me to go for one of the Marriott cards? DH and I both have the SPG Biz but no Marriott cards. I don't think that the SPG Lux is something I'm interested in, so I don't mind not being eligible for that bonus. I currently have:

Chase Disney - opened a long time ago
CSR - 1/18
JetBlue + - 1/18
SPG Biz - 3/18
CIC - 5/18

We are planning on going to DL next November, so I'm thinking I could use 3 free night certificates (2 SPG Biz, 1 Marriott) and then points for nights 4 & 5? Or possibly use the 7 night certificate from the Nights and Flights package.

Sorry to quote myself, but I don't think I received any feedback regarding the Marriott card. It looks like the offer for the Marriott Premier Plus expires 7/12, so I'm trying to decide if it's worth it for me to go for it or not. If I don't go for it, I will probably hold off on new cards for a few months and have DH refer me to the CIP later in the year. Any advice?

i try call anyways, they cant deny deny u right? :] Its all or nothing! just play along with them, you may still have a chance to get the card.
you just have to go onto the credit bureaus website to dispute them. Someone correctly me if im wrong. Experian Transunion Equifax
you would need to go after business cards to stay under 5/24. Amex Blue Business Plus is a nice one. 2x on everything, earns MR, transfers to partners without an AF.

I think I screwed up. :guilty: I got a letter from Chase today saying my CIP was denied b/c of too many cards opened in the past 24 months. I thought I was only at 3/24 so I was really confused. I knew I had some more that I was just an AU on, but I asked my DH to remove me from them and I thought they went away but now I see they are listed as "Closed" but still on my credit report. I SWEAR I looked at this before.. this divorce must be making me more crazy than I thought. I can't believe I goofed on that after all the research and thinking I did.

So anyway, trying to figure out what to do now. I will be at 5/24 in January, and then not 4/24 until April. Unfortunately the furniture I was planning to buy to meet any MSR's needs to be purchased way before then. :sad1: Plus I was trying to earn free flights for our trip to WDW in February. What do you guys recommend? I remember someone saying that their DH wrote to all three credit bureaus asking them to remove the AU cards... I could try and do that if someone could tell me exactly how to go about that? Or should I give up on Chase and try something else... American Express? I have been so focused on Chase I don't really know anything about the other cards out there. I currently have a Barclay Arrival card, a Disney VISA and an AA Citibank Mastercard. Like I said my main problem is that any major spending I am going to do is going to happen in the next few months. My credit is still looking in the "exceptional" range so that's good news.

Any advice? I am so bummed and can't believe I didn't see that before when I remember going in to check. :charac2:

It sounds like your ex removed you as an AU, which is why those cards show as closed on your credit report; but those closed AU cards are still putting you over 5/24.

Chase's automated system will check your credit report and count all the cards that appear on it that have been opened in the past 24 months. It doesn't differentiate between a card opened in your name or a card on which you're only an authorized user. It also doesn’t matter if the card shows closed, as long as it was opened in the past 24 months.

If you’d like to be approved ASAP, you should do as @Albort suggested and call Chase’s reconsideration line and plead your case that Chase should not count the AU cards that have been closed. Explain you are in the process of getting divorced (they should understand), that as part of that you’re no longer an AU on your ex’s cards, you've never been and are not financially responsible for the charges on those cards. If asked about the new CIP, you’re taking this opportunity at a fresh start to take your eBay business seriously. If the rep won’t budge, hang up and call again a few more times.

If recon doesn’t work, then you need to take one more step to remove the cards from showing on your credit reports on your own. If the AU cards were Chase cards, those are easy. Once removed as an AU, you can secure message Chase to remove reference of the AU from your credit reports with all the credit bureaus to which they report on the basis you're no longer an AU and you've never been and are not financially responsible for the charges on those cards. Those are the magic words that Chase is looking for. Or you could submit a dispute directly with the major credit bureaus.

This dispute process could take a few weeks, which may delay or come too late for your upcoming purchases.

If you can’t get the CIP because Chase sees you as over 5/24, you won’t be able to single dip or double dip the CSR and CSP either, because they are also subject to the 5/24 rule. A lot of Chase’s most lucrative cards are subject to the 5/24 rule, so it’s better if you get your credit report scrubbed of those AUs that are putting you at or over 5/24.

So there’s some conflicting information about the expiration date on the 100k Marriott Premier Plus offer: https://www.doctorofcredit.com/chase-marriott-premier-plus-now-live-100000-point-bonus/ Per DoC, the Marriott site says it expires 7/12, but US Credit Card Guide says 7/2.

There’s also a rumor that if you have a Chase Marriott or Ritz-Carlton card, or gotten a (signup or upgrade) bonus on one of these cards in the past 24 months, you’ll be ineligible for the bonus on the upcoming SPG Luxury card: https://www.doctorofcredit.com/rumor-american-express-chase-to-team-up-limit-marriott-spg-bonuses/ If you’ve never had any Marriott or Ritz cards, are interested in the SPG Lux, and put any stock in this rumor, it might be worth waiting for the SPG Lux to come out 8/1, before going for Chase’s Marriott cards, even if the bonus may drop soon.

THANK YOU ALL! So the AU cards are 2 Chase (I can't tell what they were exactly) and 1 Citibank (again, not sure.) If I call Chase as @Lain mentioned to remove reference of these 2 Chase cards, do I need to know what they were and have the full numbers? All I can see on my credit report are the first 4 which makes it really tough as some of our cards start out the same. And what number do I call to have them removed (or what department at least.. not trying to be lazy, haha, I can find the number but just not sure exactly who I am trying to reach.)

And are you guys recommending that in addition to trying to get these 2 Chase AU cards expunged off my record, at the same time I should be calling Chase to plead my case about the CIP, or should I try to do one thing first and then the other?

I cannot thank you all enough for helping me out!

Thanks! The reason I thought I had until 7/12 is because of an email I received from Marriott a few days ago. It specifically said 7/12. I haven't had any Marriott or Ritz cards, so I would be eligible for the SPG Lux, but at this point I don't think I'm interested. I just can't decide what to do!

How long would you recommend for us?

Depends on your touring style. My kids like to do favs multiple times but that eats up time, of course. I know we did BTMRR 3x, RSR 2x, space 3x, splash 2x, potc 3x, GotG 3x, soarin 2x, IC 2x, Matterhorn 2x so if we had cut out those extra times riding, we could have done everything else. So 4 days would be good. You will need to visit Toon Town which we never stepped foot in. When we go back, I’ll do 4-day tix with break day in the middle. Because the hours are longer than at WDW, we were in the parks for 16’ish hours each day.

Maxpass is a must. Just build it in the budget!

I didn’t mention Paint the Night earlier. It’s simply spectacular! World of Color was down for us so that is something I hope to see next time.

Which hotel are you staying at? I currently have the Fairfield Inn booked for the end of July and trying to decide if that is a good one. Where did you get your tickets for 20% off? Nothing like planning a last minute trip from the East Coast to the West Coast. Although we are flying in and out of PHX and driving from there since my SIL is joining us and we'll be crashing at her place for part of our visit.

I'm wondering if Ava is referring to saving 20% on the tickets through discounted GC's? We bought our DLR tickets from LMTclub.com. It was the best deal I could find.

I think I remember Ava posting that they are staying at the Hotel Indigo.
Close! We ended up choosing the Holiday Inn Express & Suites. The free breakfast & few minutes shorter walk to the parks won out. It's 30,000 IHG points per night; we're staying 4 nights and used 1 credit card free night + 90,000 points. So far I'm happy with the customer service. I e-mailed them to ask about linking my two reservations so we could keep the same room and they wrote back almost immediately saying it was done. I'll post a full review when we get back.

As far as the tickets, I bought them using discounted Disney gift cards. It was a combo of free GCs from rewards sites, and buying them at a discount from Sam's Club or with AMEX offers. If you have the 10% back at Staples or Lowe's offers on any of your AMEX cards, both of those stores carry Disney GCs. I just bought some more at Staples today to cover food in the parks.

I cannot thank you all enough for helping me out!

For Chase,

1. Call reconsideration. The number should be on your denial letter. Ask if Chase will reconsider their decision if they disregard the AUs. Again, explain you're going through a divorce, that you're in the process of disentangling your finances from your ex, as part of that you've been removed as an AU on your ex's 3 cards and they've been closed, say you are not and have never been financially responsible for those 3 cards. Some reps will disregard the cards, others will not. HUCA until you find one who will help. If any reps question you about your "business," just reiterate what you put on your application, and fill in some backstory with something like you've sold (things) online in the past, this divorce is giving you a fresh start, and you'd like to take your business more seriously, need a biz credit card to separate expenses, purchase inventory, pay fees and shipping etc.

This option is probably the one that will get you the quickest results and your best shot at approval within the next few days.

2. Regardless of the outcome of Option #1, start the process of contacting Chase to remove their 2 AUs from your credit report. If you cannot get recon to disregard the AUs to approve your CIP, then you'll have to submit a new application at least 30 days after your last application and as long as it takes to have the AUs removed from your credit reports and try again. Even if you get recon to disregard the AUs and approve your CIP, those closed AUs will stick around on your credit report until they age past 24 months, which will hamper your ability to get more cards from Chase. You'll be denied by their automated system each time because they see you at or over 5/24, and you'll have to call recon each time to plead your case to disregard the AUs. So start cleaning up your credit report ASAP.

You don't have to call Chase. From your Chase account, go to the Secure Message center and send a general inquiry. Again, explain the background, you were AU on 2 of your ex's cards (give them what you have -- first 4 numbers (do you have the physical cards?), see if Chase can track it down and if not they'll hopefully tell you they need more info), getting divorced, ex removed you as AU, cards show "closed" on credit reports but you'd like Chase to remove all reference of the 2 AU accounts from your credit reports with any credit bureau to which Chase reports because "you're no longer an authorized user of those 2 cards" and "you are not and have never been financially responsible for those 2 accounts." Something to that effect. Chase should be in touch and may bounce your request to different departments. Keep checking Credit Karma to see if and when the 2 AUs are removed.

Here's what DoC says about getting an AU removed from your credit report by Chase:

Removing an authorized user account with Chase couldn’t be easier (probably because they don’t even require a SSN for these accounts). All you need to do is send them a secured message and ask for the account to be removed. The message should be sent by the authorized user that wants the account removed from their credit report and not the primary cardholder. If the authorized user doesn’t have an account with Chase it should be sent via the primary account holder.

I've never removed an AU with Citi, but here's what DoC says:

Citi will also remove authorized user accounts from credit reports if it’s requested, although only phone requests will be processed. Again this request should be initiated by the authorized user account holder and the account must be closed first. Citi states that your credit report should be updated within 30 – 90 days.

Ok, which card should I get next?

Here's my stats:
CSR 9/16
Freedom 3/17
SPG Personal 3/17
Hawaiian 11/17
Marriott Biz 3/18

DH is almost done with his CIC spend, so I'm looking for our next MSR. I love Starriott and UR....we need to rebuild both.

WWYD?

Looks like you're 4/24, and it's been 3+ months since the Marriott Biz with Chase. I think 3+ months is a good enough gap to go for the CIP/CIC/CIU? That's 80k UR on the CIP with the ability to later refer DH for another 20k UR, or 50k UR for either the CIC or CIU.

i have... no idea... haha.
im also sitting on a grip of UR points. hoping to tap 1 mill by the end of the year.
also have no idea what to do with that.
Dang I was excited to have over 150k UR points. Just can’t get myself to do that much MS.
