I love credit cards so much!

Was thinking also of Delta Business but the higher offers are gone now and don't want to just get 30,000 points.

We pulled a 60K offer just a few days ago by logging into DH's Delta account. The min spend is only $1k. Doctor of Credit has some links you can try if that doesn't work.

I asked the redditor what quick snip he sent, and he followed up with this:

Thank you! I would have assumed they wanted the bill you were trying to pay. Hmmnn. I guess his screen shot showed that it coded as utility so it satisfied them?

OK, I am making the executive decision to stop trying to catch up on the thread that went crazy while I was in Hawaii. I keep trying but then ya'll just add more :chat:. I am starting fresh from yesterday and hoping I didn't miss anything too terrible exciting. Although I did see there is rumors of the nights and flights packages being messed with. Mariott, you better not TOUCH my nights and flights. I have big plans for 2019!

Trip report when you can!!
Yes, N&F are up in the air. A few of us are buying them and crossing our fingers it turns out well.

All, If you were to choose between the two - would you apply for the CSR or the CSP and why? I'm kinda anxious about double dipping and having three credit cards although with the hurricane house and the new house (and our trip to Disney in July) I know that I could meet that minimum spend amount in the allotted time frame... not saying that I'm not going to do it, but 3 open credit cards?

I vote CSR if you spend alot on travel and dining out. You get the 1.5x redemption, which is HUGE!
I have 11 cards and DH has 7 (he probably only knows about 3 of them :rolleyes1).

Any reason to not at least lock something in...in case they don't drop? lol! Or if they didn't drop would you just not do the trip?

I have to transfer URs to book, and I won't go on the trip if I don't get better priced flights, so no need to book now. :) I'm sure I will get better pricing eventually. Not worried about it.

Rumor has it Plastiq is going to stop accepting personal Visas completely, presumably because Visa wants them to process everything as a cash advance. This could take effect as soon as tomorrow.

Sooooo, all my pending monthly payments will code cash advance!? I have a bunch scheduled b/c of the 1.75% promo thing I got. They are on the CIP though, so not a personal card. Why is VISA so difficult!? They should just be glad to get the money from the swipe, and in some peoples' cases, money from interest too. Shut up visa!

I imagine they'd either grandfather in the pending or recurring payments, or else not process them. If Plastiq is the one aiming to cut ties because Visa wants them to process charges as cash advances, I can't imagine they would allow anything to go through that way that was already in the system.

TOTALLY makes sense then :thumbsup2 I book speculative flights with SW all the time BUT that's because they're coming out of my existing SW stash :)

Sorry, I was under the impression that you were waiting for the spg card to go back to spg points instead of statement credit. Was just mentioning that that most likely won't happen.

No problem! And I agree with you - I doubt that will happen.

I wish I could get that offer to show!! LOL...I should've just done the referral offer before it expired but I wasn't planning to plow through my CIP spend so fast.

::GASP:: I am literally considering putting some organic spend through my CF cards this quarter on the 5%...My strategy of ALWAYS be MSRing may fail me for a couple of months, lol!

I think I’m marginally hooked! I’m feeling bad that I’m not working on a minimum spend requirement LOL. Call me foolish, but I’m not ready to delve into business cards. That said, from all my reading, it seems the Chase Sapphire Preferred might be the card for me. Here are the details:

I’m 4/24
SW card at 11 months
Mattress Firm at 9 months
JC Penney at 7 months
Another SW card that was opened April 3, 2018

One article I read says I may be denied if I’ve applied for a Chase card in the past 90 days, which I have.

Recently (2 weeks ish) lowered credit limits to be less than 50% of income.

Excellent credit scores (upper 700’s).

Credit Karma says I have very good approval odds.

Now, the other thing is that maybe I should have DH open the Sapphire. He’s 3/24, but all have been 7 or 8 months and “little” things (Wells Fargo for a furniture purchase, Fleet Farm and JC Penney). Credit Karma says his odds are “good.” I somewhat wonder if it’s because he has very few cards in his name with fairly young history.

The only thing with DH is I’m kind of waiting for the new SW card and may want to try to open that and the SW business card for him to get the companion pass.

I’m so terrified of making the wrong decision!

I appreciate any and all advice!

I love the CSP. I can handle the $95 AF (waived first year) and UR points are versatile. (I use the UR points mostly to fly SW, but have used them with other airlines and hotels too.) My goal in this hobby is to get as many travel points as possible with the least amount of out of pocket expense. I tend to gravitate towards low/no AF cards, don't use Plastique or any other method that involves fees. I may not have the volume of points that I could have if I pay those fees, but I have enough for my travel goals.

If you decide to have DH apply, one of you should apply first. Then use the referral for the second card. He can still try for the new SW card as long as he is under 5/24.

Man, I hope not!!! It's not always the most optimal option, but with all of my RR and the CP it's been a dream for us.
Same for us, we've been flying SW exclusively (except my work travel) for 5+ years.

I don't think I've ever flown any other airline domestically as an adult. Granted, I haven't traveled much within the US. The nonstop to MCO is great, but I've been eyeing Jet Blue for when my RR run low, since I've recently found the travel times to be preferable over SW. Especially now, if they're decreasing the amount of non-stops altogether. I just love the flexibility that SW offers in terms of changing plans.

I was kicking myself for not doing the referral one. Was super excited to see another 60k offer. I noticed a first class fare for 35k one way on Delta from the east coast to CA. We NEVER fly first class as I'm always trying to fly as economically as possible. But since its just the 2 of us, I might just splurge. Really wish the card would hurry and get here. That $1k will take all of 10 seconds to spend!

Next card question.
Looking for a business card that is not American Express and not issued by chase.
Any ideas?
Trying to lay off chase after getting a few and do most of spend at Costco for cheap gas and groceries. So want a Visa actually.
Otherwise I would need to purchase visa gift cards but I have heard AMEX doesn’t allow for MSR. THanks.

How about the Costco Citi Business card?

I was just going to do my Target GC cash out again, LOL. Funny opposite statement...that $1k spend would be exactly what I need to bridge June and July until I want to double dip in August. LOL! Our monthly organic spend is SO low right now since we've paid all of our recurring bills for the year already.

Assuming you wait 2 days until June 2nd...then you would actually be 2/12, 1/6 and 0/3. The credit agencies date everything as of the first of the month in my experience. That said...if you can wait until July that would be even better. Your risk of "shutdown" is small on June 2nd...and VERY small come July 1.

Thanks. I think I will wait until July. I am also going to cancel both SW cards once the yearly points hit. I churn those cards every 2 years and don't use them for anything else.

Just looking for other "Business" Cards. What does anyone know of Capital One Spark Cash or Spark Miles and Bank of America Business Advantage Cards. Looks like can get some generic travel expenses on these. Not sure how hard card are to get with these companies and if they would be seen or count in Chases 5/24??

We have not flown Delta in years and years. I had a CC from them many moons ago. Have no idea if we even have an account with them. How do I find that out?

If the Plastiq rumor is true, what other options are there? I have a new CSP and have only put about $500 toward the $4,000 MSR. I had planned on using Plastiq to pay 2 independent contractors that don't accept CCs. Those two bills were going to total over $3,400, putting me right at the MSR. Any other methods to pay using the CSP for these bills?

You could ask them to set up Venmo or Paypal.
