5/24 rules.... so Marriott Biz doesn't techinically count AGAINST your 5, but you can't get it if you're over 5,is this correct? And Hilton Amex Biz.... doesn't count against your 5 at all? So if I want Dh to be under 5/24 within a few months, is it safe to refer him for the Amex Hilton biz before then? interested in both options, but MUST get him under 5/24 so have to extra careful with his accts.

i had to google this one but Marriott Biz is not subject to 5/24... Hilton Amex Biz doesnt count against your 5. safe to refer him yes.
Marriott Biz since its inhouse will count against shutdown rules.

It definitely seems like this "convert to points" thing is happening. So at this point now it's all about what is "fair". And as many of us know from following r/churning and flyertalk...if they set anything up with a potential loophole, people may beat it to death!

As long as the conversion of certificate back to points is fair, this would be a *win* for me since I did the nights and flights package really for the sole purpose of converting my Marriott/SPG points to United miles, not even being sure we would use the category 1-5 cert that came with the package. Since then, we've thought about having my MIL use the cert to visit us here in Boise, but it is a chore to get her to commit to exact dates. We've also thought about upgrading the cert and using it ourselves, but this would really be just adding another vacation to our already pretty crowded vacation schedule and would almost certainly result in more spending on food, etc. around that vacation week. So all in all, I'm actually in favor of having my certificate converted back to points.

No, you can get the Marriott biz when you are over 5/24, and it doesn't add to your 5/24 count either. I am over 5/24 (will be until October) and I got the Marriott biz earlier this year. Correct that the Amex Hilton biz won't add to your 5/24 count.

Imho what matters are the terms and conditions (but DoC tries to highlight all potential pitfalls, but this pitfall would disqualify everyone). The terms and conditions clearly state existing customers won't get a bonus is my read.

Yeah :) And that's how I read it and I thought I remembered that from prior conversation is that it's new customers only to get the bonus. Knew I shouldn't have read the verdict, I was good until that point

I'm in PA so I don't have to jump on it, but I was reading about it since you all mention Chase as an easy DD to trigger it but the Chase account is in hubby's name only and he already has a PNC account as his primary... so that won't work unless P2P payments work :) But also doesn't look like it would be a problem as I rechecked DoC's list of deposits that work and there's a DP from April of CapOne360 doing the same so I think I'm good if we decide to open one at some point. It's just a lot of money to hold to keep it fee free, probably look into it again after we can move the money we have parked at Chase (just a couple more weeks!)

I'm trying to set up the online account for DHs CIP, and it's telling me I have to call them for the security code because they don't have my phone or email? Is that normal?

On the topic of bank bonuses, I got a mailer yesterday from Key Bank offering a $400 bonus by opening a checking account and making a single deposit of $500 within 60 days of account opening. Seems like pretty easy money to me! And there is a Key Bank branch close to my office (very close to the Chase branch where I opened a checking account (basically switched my existing savings account to a checking account) last month and got a $300 bonus by making my $1.80 direct deposit (which I intended to be higher than that, lol)). It looks like to avoid fees on the Key Bank checking account that I'd need to make deposits of $500 each account cycle, and I'd need to keep the account open for 180 days. If I can essentially keep moving the same $500 in and out each account cycle, that *really* seems like easy money. I'm going to stop by the branch early next week to see about opening an account. Anyone have experience with Key Bank?

This exact thing happened to me when DH got his CIP. Total PITA! But they were able to resolve it with a call (which DH had to be on initially before they would talk to me). Happily, with DH's new CIC, it went right into his existing online account, so no repeat of that experience.

Every time I see someone from here over there, I want to be like Hi Friend!

I almost did that to you one day, but at least I gave you an upvote (although I'm not sure it was in a thread that counts towards support link posting  i'm still confused on what threads count although I'm sure it's simple and I just haven't put enough of the brain cell into it)
I forget where it was, one of the discussion threads and you posted about getting the CSR's for your IL's and secretly using the points for their cruise but you mentioned Plastiq which I don't notice a lot so I thought "hey that sounds familiar what a coinky dink" and looked at the poster and it was you! So I added to the already decent upvote count you got on that one :)

Make sure you have some time for that call! PITA! I had to call and give them some verifying info and then they wanted a phone number to send the code to and I had to read it back and then they setup my account. It took like 20m if I recall correctly. Adding the CIC to my CIP account as simple! Its just getting it setup in the first place that is painful.

I opened an account with them in the past. I don't remember all the details but it must have been pretty easy and no issues since it's not sticking in my mind. I probably used Amex Savings, PayPal or Chase to trigger the direct deposit. I'd say go for it!

Sounds like a good plan with the amex Hilton biz. it will not count against the 5/24 rule. good luck if you decide to apply for it. the application was pretty much the same as chase and funny thing was I was instantly approved. no 30 day waiting lol.

Ugh. Guess I'll make him do it tonight. I don't remember having to do that with my SW biz.

What a pain. But worth it for UR points!

@disneymagicgirl and @GZanta77 you're making me feel better!
