I love credit cards so much!

Thank you! No, I don't have a Chase account. I only have Webster Bank. I've been meaning to move my funds to another bank but haven't gotten around to it yet. I did take a look at the DOC list and the only account I already have set up is Paypal. I could set up a Chase account first but I wanted to do this quickly before it goes away! Is it better to do several small transfers or does it not matter?

You should be fine with PayPal, however I haven't used that for PNC, only Chase and I think a few years ago I used my Amex Savings account. Both worked with no issues.

I remember there have been times where the deposit verifications that some banks do when linking external accounts (they'll send over 2 small deposits, $0.15, $0.27, and have you verify to confirm correct account) would actually trigger bonuses. It's the craziest thing.

In terms of opening PNC or Chase first, I'd ask if the $2k credit card funding is the most important? If it is, then do PNC first, fund with the 2k and hope the transfer from PayPal counts as dd for the bonus. Then definitely look into Chase because it's a great bank to have (and make sure to get a good bonus sign-up too!)

The double in DH's dip has been officially approved (CSP) after a short recon call to move credit around. Yeah!!!

$8k of spend here we come. I smell a few new PNC checking/savings accounts for DH. And i'm going to see if they can expedite so we can put our spring 2019 travel plans on one of those cards (probably reserve to take advantage of travel credit).

Thank you again for all of your help!!!

Ok, so I'm slow, just reading about the PNC bonus offer on DoC's site (haven't had time to check the PNC site out) and I stumbled on this point in the fine print he listed:
"New account will not be eligible for offer if any signer has signing authority on an existing PNC Bank consumer checking account or has closed an account within the past 90 days, or has been paid a promotional premium in the past 12 months."

That sounds to me like existing customers aren't eligible. Or did I misinterpret that? He started to confuse me in his Verdict section when he talks about the URL mentioning existing customers.

Woohoo party time!:woohoo:party::banana:party::woohoo:
Congrats!

ETA: I know it's not a @Lain dance party but I couldn't resist the urge to get some cabbage patch on for a double dip! :p

Thank you so much, this was a great review!! Yeah, I think this pretty much settles it that we'll go with the Hilton. I was already planning to pay cash for a hotel anyways and with the rates there plus the new Hilton biz card, it's kind of a no brainer. We won't have a car so no worries on the parking! And it sounds like walking might be the best option for us. That's good to know on the Toy Story shuttle though. I'll check Hilton's website on promotions too to see if we get anything extra for our stay. Thank you!
@Lain gave a great review. I stayed at the Hilton last year, but we were too lazy to walk to the parks so we took Uber/Taxi. I think it was $7-$10 and definitely worth it to save tired feet at the end of the day!

Another option is the new-ish Homewood Suites Anaheim Resort-Convention Center. It's on Harbor right next to the Toy Story lot. It's not full-service like the Hilton, but it was just built in the last few years and includes full breakfast and evening dinner on M-Th. I think most of the rooms have kitchenettes. I've been interested in staying there but have not done so yet. Some friends stayed there last year and really liked it.

Question on Chase's 24-month bonus rule: I applied for Chase Marriott 6/2016. It looks like I got the bonus in Sept. or Oct. 2016. Does that mean I should not apply for the new Marriott card until October? In other words, do you have to apply 24-months or more after you last got the bonus?

I'm not entirely sure what you are asking, but what you get for cards and what he gets for cards are not linked, unless you are and AU on one...but don't be. :)
So yes, you can both get the same cards at the same time, but stagger enough to refer each other.
I'll try to make it more clear lol. DH just got his CIP and will wait 3 months to refer me. Then I will have the CIP. Should he get the CSP right away or wait until my 3 months for my CIP is done?

I just don't know if we could make the MSR of both cards if DH gets the CSP and I get the CIP at the same time. Does that make more sense?

True, the credit card funding alone is worth the effort. Do you think I should open a Chase account first? I appreciate the help, I know you have this down to a science ;)
No, you don't want to lose out on one bonus to get another, Chase commonly runs checking bonuses and if you were to open one now you could miss qualifying for the next Chase bonus. I'd try the PayPal route. I'm in eternal verification with PayPal and they have no idea how to get me out so I can't walk you through it unfortunately. If you don't/can't/want a backup deposit bank read through the comments here, sort by newest, to see what recent banks have worked that you may already have accounts with https://www.doctorofcredit.com/pnc-300-checking/ and you can get a feel for what works. Cap 1 seems to work (again, they do a bonus so don't open a new account just because you want a PNC bonus), Fidelity Brokerage worked (not one I would normally think of) and more.

Last bonus to be safe (when you wait that long nobody wants to lose out on a bonus to be the dp on this) since that is specifically what the terms and conditions usually state (24 months from last bonus).

I have only ever used the app.

i only use their app as well.

You have to also remember these are the people that are saying my Credit Card is denying the charge but cannot explain why Gyft is refunding the payment... Seems odd they would issue a refund for money they were denied in the first place. :rotfl2: I think they are just not trained in how their system works and about the initial 'security' denials and think its just their crappy app or peoples CC's.

To determine if he should be safe applying for his CSP now, what other cards does your DH have and what months did he apply for them?

He has the CIP that we just got and we both have Discover cards. I wasn't saying for him to get the CSP now because I don't think we would meet the MSR on both the CSP and CIP.

Imho what matters are the terms and conditions (but DoC tries to highlight all potential pitfalls, but this pitfall would disqualify everyone). The terms and conditions clearly state existing customers won't get a bonus is my read.

OH! OK :D What you need to do is estimate out your expenses each month for the next 6-12 months, and list out any unusually large expenses that can go on a credit card (insurance payment is a common one) in it's proper month. Then you'll be able to see how much MSR you can handle and when. You definitely don't want to take on more MSR than you can handle. After you determine when you should get what determine a good application date to apply for each card, I recommend a couple weeks before you need it to give time for reconsideration, processing and mailing.

5/24 rules.... so Marriott Biz doesn't techinically count AGAINST your 5, but you can't get it if you're over 5,is this correct? And Hilton Amex Biz.... doesn't count against your 5 at all? So if I want Dh to be under 5/24 within a few months, is it safe to refer him for the Amex Hilton biz before then? interested in both options, but MUST get him under 5/24 so have to extra careful with his accts.

Okay that all sounds good. Thank you! I think we may just stick with the two CIP cards (DH now and mine when he refers me).

I think Marriott Biz is the only one you can get over 5/24
