I love credit cards so much!

Haha - we were typing similar things at the same time. That’s an interesting comment you bring up about the points vs. 7 nights. If it is truly a fair number then booking a nights and flights now is a win for people in that situation. I know we’ve had folks here debating doing a nights and flights but only using 5 or 6 of the nights. This will be interesting to see how it plays out (and I don’t even have any certs in hand right now and no plans to acquire any...just interested as a student of the game and churning historian LOL)

Great minds think alike.

In theory, that's how it's supposed to work. You buy the eGift card on the app, and it should be available immediately. But new users have reported gift card orders canceled or delayed, likely, due to anti-fraud prevention algorithms. @DaveL is going through this hell right now. @disneymagicgirl went through it. A lot of these gift card apps are super sensitive to large purchases or frequency of purchase early on. It gets better as you establish a history or pattern of purchases. I had a few orders held up when I first started using Gyft, but I almost never have problems anymore. I almost always use the app, not the website.

HAH! Yeah... Finally got three $100 Walmart gift cards (Took 4 days to get them as each I had to wait almost a day). I still cannot order the $250 cards, I get a denial after the payment is processed then Gyft refunds the charge and says that my card denied it... Anyhow I got to SAMs yesterday and they were all out of the $150 packs, so I was about to give up and saw another sled and behind a stack of $500's I found three $150 packs so took two. (Sorry if someone here hid those!) Price went up tho, I remember them being like $142 now they are $145.

Edit:
I almost always use the app, not the website.
See Gyft told me (Two different people) never to use their mobile app as its horrible and hardly ever works and that I should only use the website.

I can’t figure out why they don’t just “convert” the certs into the new chart. To me that is fair, and allows for no abuse loophole. AND then people could upgrade or downgrade their cert if necessary to match their desired property in the new chart.

The only reason I can come up with for why they aren’t doing this is their IT and systems can’t handle it properly...

Exactly! Like x10. After I posted I saw yours and basically you had everything I was thinking too. Even if they can't get it programmed in time for the Aug 1 launch or whatever, they could still come up with a manual work around. So for a while make people call in to use the certs, have a way for the reps to book any value needed then invalidate the cert #. That seems faster to work out programmatically than the brain power needed to convert to points fairly.

It definitely seems like this "convert to points" thing is happening. So at this point now it's all about what is "fair". And as many of us know from following r/churning and flyertalk...if they set anything up with a potential loophole, people may beat it to death!

So for those that have done the Discover bank bonus, how long did it take for your opening deposit to show up? I'm being impatient...

PNC looks to be running a nationwide checking bonus. $2k Visa or MasterCard credit card funding, Citi cards appear to be having issues now though so I wouldn’t use one unless you see a successful DP first. They’re always state restricted (but out of staters can sometimes still get the bonus, I did in CA last year but others didn’t). DoC speculates it may not last long https://www.doctorofcredit.com/pnc-up-to-300-checking-bonus-no-state-restriction/
I need a new card...

My wife and I have been going to Disneyland pretty regularly since 2009 and stayed at the Hilton a lot. During that time, we've racked our brains and tried various ways to shorten our trip from the hotel to the parks and back again.

@DisneyMandC you should just uber like we saw some people do from the Hyatt last month :) We just had to laugh because they left the breakfast area at the same time as us, and we passed them getting out of an uber by the drop off area...

So for those that have done the Discover bank bonus, how long did it take for your opening deposit to show up? I'm being impatient...

My first deposit was October 5th. Then I got the $150 November 1st. Second deposit November 8th got the $50 November 24th.

The first dip on the CSR/CSP double dip has been approved for DH! Instant approval and crazy high credit limit. I'm expecting to have to call recon for this next one. In we go (after closing browser and opening new incognito!)

As expected, second dip went for review. I'm going to give it an hour and call the automated number. If not DH will call in and probably move credit from his crazy high Freedom (I hope that's all they need!)

Of course I had to call the automated status line right away (duh!) but as soon as I entered DH's SSN it said it was transferring my call and I hung up. Is that normal? I don't remember being transferred before, just an automated response.

I'd really like to do this as I am in a state that is usually not included, but I have never done this before. I do not have direct deposit available at work. Would you mind walking me through this? I saw DP's that Paypal works as a DD. So I could open the account with $2k on my CSR. Transfer $5000 from paypal (not sure how to do this exactly). Make 10 small debit card transactions. After the bonus posts, could I then downgrade to the lower fee account so I wouldnt have to keep as much in for six months?

Do you have a Chase checking account (I see you have the CSR so that's why I'm asking). Chase also counts as direct deposit for PNC.

DOC has a great site where they list DP on what banks consider as direct deposit.

For PNC the list is long so you may want to read all the options over there. If you have any of these banks currently you can simply add your PNC account information (you'll get it as soon as you create your account, including routing number) and once your PNC account is open and active, you can send the transfer over. You can either do 1 transfer for the full amount (I believe PNC is $5K) or spread into several smaller ones that total $5K.

I haven't used PayPal for this, but the basic idea is to fund your PayPal account with $5K. Then link your new PNC account in PayPal. Then withdraw the $5K (in 1 or multiple transactions) to PNC. The same way you would normally move your PayPal balance over to your checking account to "cash out".

Then yes, you'd use your debit card 10x for small transactions (vending machine, Amazon gc reloads, coffee, etc.). I'd have to re-read the terms to see if you can downgrade to a lower fee account. I just plan to keep the $5K in there and close when the time comes.

Yes. BUT, you won't be guaranteed the bonus since you have "fake" the direct deposit so keep that in the back of your head, that being said I'd totally go for it because the worst that happens is you get some credit card funding out of it and have to let some cash sit in their bank, worth it for a chance at $300 imho. Idk about PayPal since my account with them is screwed up but there are also some banks that trigger the DD requirement. Read through the comments on the last PNC bonus offering to see what banks triggered the DD req. I believe Chase is a common one that works.

Thank you! No, I don't have a Chase account. I only have Webster Bank. I've been meaning to move my funds to another bank but haven't gotten around to it yet. I did take a look at the DOC list and the only account I already have set up is Paypal. I could set up a Chase account first but I wanted to do this quickly before it goes away! Is it better to do several small transfers or does it not matter?

I had that happen a couple times last year, but all I was told was "we're still processing your application". It was weird, I think I decided I was calling the wrong number but never figured it out for sure. Imho since it's so soon after sending in your app I would wait a few hours and try again

True, the credit card funding alone is worth the effort. Do you think I should open a Chase account first? I appreciate the help, I know you have this down to a science ;)

I want to say we all got the SPG Biz at the same time in between the Marriott and CIC as well...at least I remember @Lain did. Can’t quite remember whether @Ava did as well? I’ll need to borrow @Lain’s spreadsheet :rotfl2:
I did! I got the SPG Biz and Personal, actually. The Biz in March and the personal in April.

Sorry, I meant the deposit you used to open the account, how long it took to show in your Discover account? :) I'm impatient to move it out and back in again
