Yes, I was thinking of using it for a local property and doing exactly that--putting my name on the reservation as well. Thank you for the condolences--still hard to wrap my head around.I think overseas, where they require passports, likely risky. In the States, if you list yourself as a second guest and "check in earlier"...mmm maybe not? I'm not a big Hilton person so perhaps others can chime in, though. Once again, condolences...grief can hit at the oddest times and I'm sure receiving the FNC was an unexpected reminder.![]()
Hmm. Interesting. I suspect it wouldn't be treated as points in this case because it was given in error? In other words, if I try to call attention to it, I suspect it will be quickly rescinded. He did have points in his account but I was able to transfer them soon after his death as I have access to his accounts.First off, my condolences.
(I would think a FNC may be considered part of points but Hilton may think differently.)
Second, are there points also in his account? This is #23 under Hilton Honors terms and conditions:
What happens to a deceased Member's Points?
In the event of a Member's death:
- Points in the deceased Member's account may be transferred to another Member upon Hilton's receipt and approval of requested documentation and information.
- Transfer request and required documents must be provided within 1 year from the date of the Member's death.
- Elite status can't be transferred, and Points received by a Member through a transfer won't count toward Elite status.
Transfers will be made within the sole discretion of the Hilton Honors team. Any decision made by Hilton Honors in response to a request for transfer is final and not subject to further review or dispute.
- Complete the Declaration form and send to priorityletter@hilton.com.
- Provide a copy of the Member's death certificate (doesn't have to be a certified copy).
- Provide a copy of an official document establishing the legal authority of the individual over the Member's estate.
- The Member receiving Points must have an existing account. A new account can't be created just to receive these Points.
- Points can't be transferred from a deceased Member to any number of recipients; however, separate paperwork must be completed for each.
- There's no minimum or maximum number of Points that can be transferred.
- No fee will be charged.
- Receiving Member(s) will receive Points within 5 business days of Hilton's receipt of the completed documentation and information requested.
I did leave out a conversation I had with the diamond desk a couple months ago when I was booking my own FNC. I mentioned the death of my husband and that I wanted to book his FNC (this one was earned correctly) and she said i could do it as long as I had access to his account and phone. I didn't end up doing it as it was about to run out, but now I have a use for this one, so I'm considering chancing it.
But maybe too risky and bad karma ... still debating.
