I love credit cards so much! v7.0 - 2025 (see first page for add'l details)

Approved for my first Biz card! CIC They called 2 days after app and asked a couple of simple verification questions. Easy peasy!
Now I have "You're already Approved" showing on my account for CIU & CIP? Is this normal? We are taking are large family to Disney in the fall so I can definitely cover the spend on another card. I just wasn't planning on doing it so soon. I guess I have 2 questions. Will this offer disappear? Which card is better? the cash back on CIU is appealing but maybe the points a better deal, I don't know how to maximize those.

The CIC, CIU, and CIP all earn UR Points. The only one you have to watch out for is the Ink Business Premier, those points don't work the same and is more like a cashback card.

Do you have a CSP or CSR? Those card lets you transfer the URs to airline and hotel partners. If you don't and want to transfer, the CIP will also let you do that. I use almost all my URs transferred to Hyatt.

For getting CIU or CIP, has it been 30 days since your CIC? They usually won't approve you for biz cards if you've been approved for another Chase card within 30 days. I don't know if the you're already approved gets around that. There is also the general rule of thumb of a Chase card every 3 months, personal or biz. If you haven't gotten any Chase cards recently other than the CIC, then it's probably okay to do them close together.

Ok! Thanks!
This is the message! Thought it was strange. I haven't opened any cards in several years so maybe that is why? I do have a CS that I had downgraded several years ago and barely use. I should probably just cancel it.
Maybe I'll try the CIU and see what happens LOL
I was planning on cashing out the $750 bonus on the CIC but is there more value in keeping the points for later use? At some point I want to do an international trip but I can only plan one thing at a time!

You can also transfer the points to airlines or hotel programs (my favorite is Hyatt). If you see a redemption that will give you more than one cent per point then it would be a better way to use them, but everyone here is different and you have to do what works best for you.

I would keep the Sapphire. You can upgrade it to a CSP or CSR if you need it down the road. Or product change to one of the Freedoms if the spend categories work for you.

If cashback is the goal, the CSR has Pay Yourself Back at 1.25 cent per point. Current useful categories are insurance, utilities, and gas station. Unknown what next quarter will be. Annual fee is $550, but you can use the $300 travel credit twice on one AF. All your UR and those in your household can be combined to the card that is the most useful.

I remembered that when I spent my final night in Japan at the lovely Hyatt Centric Ginza I snapped a few quick pics before heading out! It's an open layout (shower and wc both had doors, sink was out in the open), which was fine for me. Some may not love this if traveling with their partner or child.

Sounds like I need to start banking points. I can figure out the next steps later. I'll check out Hyatt. My DH like Hilton and racks up points via business travel so I haven't looked much into other options.

My mom applied for GE just after Christmas & had her conditional approval 2 days later. Initially scheduled her interview for mid-March, but we stalked the website & an appointment opened up for early the week after she applied. Application to interview all done within a week.
This would be awesome!! I'd love to actually get the interview done before we travel if possible, but I can at least do it on the arrival flight if they're conditionally approved.

I have soooo much to learn lol For now I'll keep my old Sapphire, probably apply for the CIU and bank points. Figure the rest out later. Thank you all for your input!

Just back from another Disney Cruise!

Thought I'd share how we covered it with CC bonuses and points.
I'm not going to share the actual cost of the cruise because we got the Cast Discount. So that helped with saving some money!

First I had DH apply for a Disney Visa with my support link. I have had a Disney Visa since Day One back in 2003 when I was in college. Never took advantage of the support bonuses before. (DH was at 1/24 and that one just dropped off this week, so he is back to 1/24 again with this card!)
We paid the cruise in full on the new card and immediately earned the $300 credit. They also changed it so that they automatically do pay over time for 6 months at no interest, so that was nice. Back in the day when we put everything on my Disney Visa I had to do the math myself for the 6 month promos.

Our car insurance was up for the 6month renewal so I used my CSR to pay and paid myself back for $753 and used 60,240 URs
I paid myself back on my CSR for a few other gas and utility payments crediting $223.73 and using another 17,898 URs
I am working on a Cap1 Spark Cash $750 MSR and will use that towards paying off the cruise balance.
With Port parking and trip insurance, this got our out-of-pocket down to just over $600.
In summary we used:
$300 credit Disney visa
$750 Spark cash back
78,138 URs

We also bought Disney gift cards at a gas station on the way to the port and I paid myself back with URs to cover stateroom charges. Between the Disney Rewards dollars earned on both our Disney Visas and gift cards I had lying around we only charged $98 to our CC (would have been 0, but the $100 bonus I received for support on the Disney Visa didn't post until day 3 of the cruise and I didn't want to mess with internet and cell service to transfer it, saving it for another trip)

Any recent DPs on getting a GE application through to the point where you can schedule your interview?

Well, for those interested, I applied 2/14 (Friday morning) and my kids were conditionally approved 2/15 (Saturday evening), so that's moving quickly! There are plenty of slots for me to grab appointments in the next 6 weeks, too, but then we have to pay to park at an airport. I'm thinking I might just do the Enrollment on Arrival to avoid a second airport trip.

I don’t know your location, but at our home airport (Bradley) there is a separate parking lot for the building where the interviews are done, so I didn’t have to park in paid parking when I went. I’d personally be inclined to do it ahead of any trip so that you can all use TSA pre-check when you leave (unless your kids are young enough that they can go through pre-check with you without having their own).

US Bank is so bizarre. I opened a silver biz checking account a month ago. Transferred the required money in, have made 3 qualifying transactions so far. Today they sent me an email saying my application for a silver biz checking account has expired and is no longer available!

Thought I'd post my TDL 'loot' before putting it away!

Back row: Vanellope bag (purchased with meal (same with the small Vanellope plate)

next row: Pooh for the year of the snake -- purchased because I couldn't resist Pooh dressed as a snake, small Rapunzel cup -- purchased as part of a dessert at Momma Biscotti's (tbh I didn't care what the dessert was, I just wanted the mug -- whatever it was I gave it to ds), same with the small plate -- love both, clip-on Mickey was gift I chose as part of our VP (got 2 gifts of these)

Small Fantasy Springs case -- purchased as part of lunch at Snuggly Duckling (again, only purchased to get the little case because it is SO cute!)
front row: little plastic bag was what the facial cotton and q-tips were in in our bathroom (lame compared to the metal cases at MC ad TDH), Fantasy Springs key chain (I purchased this item), toothbrush and toothpaste kit from hotel, FSH carrying bag (2 in our room each night)

Purchased this in the lobby of the hotel --- LOVE it and was told it's limited edition. Was a PITA to get carry around Japan with me because of the box that it's in, but worth it!

My girls are 11, so still included in our precheck. Only doing GE now since it's free so that they will continue to have pre check even after they age out of it being included under a parent umbrella.

Dh is really trying to convince me to do London this summer instead of waiting until next year. He’s thinking we go for about 5 days and if we like it a lot we could go back again next year and explore out of the city more. We’re looking at flying premium economy out of Boston or New York with either Virgin or BA. Virgin has a 30% Chase transfer bonus that ends today.

Flying BA looks like it’ll be 42k each way. With the Chase transfer bonus Virgin will be 53k (70k if we miss the transfer). Is Virgin worth that much more points than BA?
