I feel like this is the doldrums for finding a new MSR at the moment....am I alone in this? I've been coasting along, but knowing I have some larger bills next month,I'd like to have something ready to use...just can't seem to find anything worthwhile to go for.... I was letting my chase apps breathe (last CiU 9/2/24) and I still have 2 CiU open and a CiC.... already got the CSR (about to pc) and just not sure what I want next....got enough beloved ihg points for awhile, but my old school $49 AF card doesn't get me 4th night free benefits so I'm considering pc'ing up on that one....(should I?)
I'm with you. I was just denied a CIU - which I kind of knew I would be. I have three Chase biz cards open and my last was just two months ago. But I have an $8k spend I have to make by Dec 27, so I'm under the gun to find something to put it on. It's tuition so comes with a 2.95% fee for using a credit card so I need a SUB that makes it worth the fee. I opened a lot recently so I need something not too inquiry sensitive. Below is what I have recently gotten. Thinking of trying US bank again, maybe. Any advice?
Feb-23 CHASE - Chase Ink Unlimited (CIU)
Apr-23 CHASE - CSP (product changed to Chase Freedom May-24)
May-23 Amex - Hilton - Hilton Honors Business
Oct-23 CHASE - Chase Ink Unlimited (CIU) (closed Oct-24)
Dec-23 Amex - BBP
Jan-24 CHASE - Chase Ink Cash (CIC)
May-24 CHASE - Chase Ink Preferred (CIP)
May-24 Amex - American Express Business Platinum
Jun-24 Barclay - Jet Blue Plus
Aug-24 CHASE - Chase Ink Preferred (CIP)
Sep-24 Barclay - AAAdvantage Aviator
Oct-24 US Bank - Triple Cash

Any options for or should I just pay the tuition without a bonus and give it some time before another app?

I would try for a different US Bank Biz Card. I have had good luck with them. I have gotten 3 cards this year and so has DH. Two cards were only a month apart. I hate having a big spend and not having a SUB.

For those of us that haven't applied for the AA Barclays' card, this might be your last chance.

My no af AA barclays card is my 2nd oldest and highest cl. It's the only reason I still have it. Going to have to decide if it's worth keeping with the switch to citi. I'm guessing they won't have a no af card.

Thanks, this pushed me over the edge to apply... and then I got the error "We apologize for the inconvenience, but our website is experiencing technical issues. Please contact us at 1-866-371-0107 or try again later." UGH. I guess I need to try again later...

Are you like most people where US Bank and Barclays pulls TU for you, but Chase doesn't? If so, you were 2/6 inquiries at the Triple Cash approval and you're still 2/6 now. I'd think approval odds are good.

The Leverage biz isn't elevated, but it has 2x top 2 categories and schools is one of the many categories included.

if you have a US Bank account, you can do cash back, which is what I plan to do. Looks like my $59.75 gets me $59.75 (my $750 is pending still). Oh needs to be $25 increments. My other US bank biz card doesn't do that. Statement credit looks to be the same.

The $25 increments for Connect biz and Triple Cash biz is so annoying. The Leverage biz doesn't have that.

I do statement credit. Points post at statement close. I redeem before the payment is due and it comes off the balance. I only ended up with a credit once when the statement I made MSR in wasn't enough to use up the credit. I was too lazy to contact them. Looks like 3 months later they've cut me a check.

This was enough of a nudge, I went for the US Bank Leverage. I got the "you'll hear from us soon." I also got an alert that Transunion was pulled. Fingers crossed!

Thank you both for the advice!

oh no... P2 & I applied earlier this morning and were both approved. Maybe lots of people are applying?

What about the Hilton Aspire card? I like that it gives you 1 FNC / year, diamond status plus the resort and airline credits.

Y'all are influencers. I just applied for it and got it. I have a bunch of old AA miles and struggle to use them, so why not get more? :faint:
Hahahahaha, yeah, I finally got rid of all mine, and dh still has some from our run way back when, and yet now I want more.
