I'm wondering if you could share your strategy for New Zealand. I'm hoping for 2 business class seats for the spring of 2026, so I'm starting to save up the points now and struggling with which currencies would be most useful. Thanks!

Sure thing. I always like to have multiple plans in place in case what I have planned goes sideways. This happens more than I like. I am looking at potentially using Amex MRs to transfer to ANA to fly Air New Zealand or other star alliance partners if there is saver space. I am also looking at AA with a positioning flight in DFW as an option. United is another one with a combination of maybe a flight on miles and using UTB to pay for another. Lastly, Alaska miles in case anything opens up last minute that allows me book for less miles and to cancel whatever I may have booked for more miles if there’s a favorable cancellation policy. Hope this helps!

  1. Free DashPass membership through December 31, 2027. (Those who activate the benefit in 2027 will still get a full 12 months of the benefit.)
  2. Two promo discounts of $10 each calendar month will reflect at checkout. This promo will not work on restaurant orders; it only works on grocery, convenience, or other non-restaurant orders on DoorDash. (To activate the promo discount benefit, you need to first activate the free DashPass benefit. After activation, you’ll find the $10 under “Promo codes, rewards & gift cards” at checkout.)
  3. A $5 monthly DoorDash credit which works for all DoorDash purchases. This ends on January 31, 2025.
  4. Beginning February 1, 2025, a new monthly benefit for a $5 discount on restaurant orders on DoorDash.

The above is from DoctorofCredit. edit: for sapphire cards, freedom and slate

I know a lot of you are proficient at maximizing this stuff. Maybe I'll figure it out as our doordash orders are quite frequent on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

Got a Amex Blue Cash Preferred upgrade offer in the mail today. I currently have the free card. No annual fee for the first year. $150 statement credit after spending $1000. I’m assuming no credit check so I may just take them up on this offer.
We have gotten this offer several times over the years. We always downgrade when the next AF hits. Then a year or two later we get the offer again, rinse and repeat.

You're correct, no credit check on upgrade offers

Would be nice if we could all go for the interviews at the same time. I am tempted to try and do a weekend trip to Niagara Falls and do the interviews on the way back into the US since that entry point has no waits for interviews but our local airport is booking 3 months out.
I'm curious- if you were to do this, would you just stop at the GE place on the way back to US without an appt?

The only way to see GE appts available it is to fill out the form and get approved, right? Like I said before I want to use a cc credit for my dsis, but don't want to 'waste' it on apping for GE if there's no appts available in a normal time frame

to use the doordash credit, do I simply use the csr to pay for the order? and the big difference now is it's monthly 2 x $10 credit instead of quarterly?

You can do enrollment (ie the interview) at certain places when you arrive back in the US from international travel.
https://www.cbp.gov/travel/trusted-traveler-programs/global-entry/enrollment-arrival#:~:text=Enrollment on Arrival (EoA) is,a designated CBP Preclearance location.

Not sure what normal looks like since it is relative. But expect 3-6 months to get an interview spot. I just had to move my husband’s appt to March. But I’ll stalk the website to see if I can find an earlier appt. It does vary by location.

Not to worry you but some people are conditionally approved in just days (my case and my husbands) but I’ve read where some people it takes months just to get conditionally approved.

How do we feel about having just two biz cc's open (both this year) with the latest being opened Aug 15th?
I would probably feel pretty confident.

I just resubmitted my application after being denied 30 days ago. Since the denial I closed one of my business cards to drop down to 3 and I put spend on the two cards that had a $0 balance. I got the "We'll let you know and if you're approved you'll receive your card in 7 to 10 days" response. So far I've never been denied when getting that response and that has been the response for the last 4-5 cards for P2 and I. Fingers crossed my luck continues because I desperately need an MSR.

So, after forgetting to unfreeze DH's credit when applying for New Ink this week - got a letter in my messages to unlock my credit and give them a call. So, DH got on the phone with them and they reran the credit app and was approved.

DH Currently had a SW Biz and CIC open. Just closed a CIU last week.

Question for those who pay estimated quarterly tax pymts. How many forms of payment can you use to pay? I have taxes to pay on my Roth Conversion and want to know if I can do two payments so I hit two MSRs or does it need to be one payment? Thanks.

Other people here may have much better suggestions but I use a cc from AAA that give me 3% cash back at BJ's/Costo (5% at Food stores and 3% at gas stations).
Do you know if there is a cashback limit? I have seen ones with 3% and 2% boa with bonus as well but they only apply to about 2500 dollars which is not enough.

For this quarter in particular (Oct-Dec) the Chase Freedom has Paypal as a 5% back category. You can buy Disney Gift cards online at BJs.com and select Paypal (linked to the Freedom) as your payment. So you're getting the BJ's discounted gift cards and 5% back in URs. Warehouse stores usally come up as a 5% category once a year also - but no guarantee.
Also assuming that there is a cashback limit and then it going back to 1%

Good to hear, as I was denied last month with 4 cards. Closed one and waiting for 30 days to reapply. Fingers crossed.

We do the same, and since we don't spend $6000 a year on groceries, I buy some gift cards for my regular grocery stores while we have the 6%! Then I use them the following year.

You can do 2 for each cc processor (there are 3).
Be careful if some of those CC's are business cards. I have run into one of the processors that will not accept them. I can never remember which of the 3 takes biz cards and which don't!
