Well that is very interesting, no bonus points but the companion cert to HI would offset that and like you say no SUB. Do you recall where you read that?
so the best way I've found to do this because I'm able to use the certificate for it every year. The best way for us is to figure out the price for your route as far in advance as you can. the fare buckets tend to be higher prices than the cheaper fares, for example, FC to NYC might be 450 if you can find a deal but the fare might be 500-600$. I tend to use these going from Florida to the West Coast, I haven't tried Hawaii now even though its eligible it's a shame they aren't worth it for Canada.
I saw a blog about it and wanted to post that also here https://thriftytraveler.com/deals/flights/best-ways-to-use-delta-companion-certificate/
I was denied for a CIU on 09/25. I had 4 Chase biz cards so I closed my CIC. I received the SM that it was closed on 09/28. Since then I have been putting spend on my other biz cards. Do I need to wait a full 30 days from the denial or CIC closure or can I try again now?
so there is a podcast I listen to on YouTube called lets get to the Points its great but has a really low sub count (I think it's 3-4k now) I subbed when it was under 1k. They were talking about Chase cracking down on these one of them had over 5 I can't remember the number.

Question for those who pay estimated quarterly tax pymts. How many forms of payment can you use to pay? I have taxes to pay on my Roth Conversion and want to know if I can do two payments so I hit two MSRs or does it need to be one payment? Thanks.
I typically use PayUSA to make 2 payments a quarter. When I use a CIU, I go through Paypal to make the payment.

You can do enrollment (ie the interview) at certain places when you arrive back in the US from international travel.
https://www.cbp.gov/travel/trusted-traveler-programs/global-entry/enrollment-arrival#:~:text=Enrollment on Arrival (EoA) is,a designated CBP Preclearance location.

Not sure what normal looks like since it is relative. But expect 3-6 months to get an interview spot. I just had to move my husband’s appt to March. But I’ll stalk the website to see if I can find an earlier appt. It does vary by location.

Not to worry you but some people are conditionally approved in just days (my case and my husbands) but I’ve read where some people it takes months just to get conditionally approved.
I applied a few months ago and still waiting for a conditional approval.

We get mailers, monthly, for Chase business checking bonuses. Yet every time I try to open one, it won't let me. Does this happen to anyone else? It's so annoying.

I do quarterly payments. There are three different websites you can use and you can do two payments each I believe.

ETA: Sorry, just realized I repeated what @wanderlust7 said.

One thing to note on the companion pass, it does not include all flights. You select the cert and search flights, but there are flights that will not show up for the CP.
Can I see what the availability would be for the cert without completely committing to the transaction?

You have to use certain fare buckets--which are limited, especially during certain times of the year and of course are going to be even more limited to popular places like Hawaii or the Caribbean. So expecting those fare buckets to Hawaii during Christmas a month or two out...is unrealistic. Planning as soon as the schedule opens and being willing to take an early morning or redeye flight (since those will be the LUTX fares) are the limits of the companion tickets.

Also, the fare must be paid in cash not with points. So, it's not for everyone but a good deal if you know how to use it. My DM just dropped her expectation we would be flying to Phoenix in February on me recently...this is an expensive time to go (great weather, spring training, etc) and that's when I used one of mine and DH and I always have another in our back pocket for a last minute funeral trip to the West Coast (he has a large family and we're always waiting for "the call,"). Some people don't think it's worth it but once you know the ins and outs can save you more than the AF of the platinum, imho.
Oh shoot, I thought we could use pnts and the cert so DD1 would get free flights for all 4 of them. Not such a good deal if we are paying 650.00 for seat 1 and 350.00 for Delta Plat to get the cert and then the cert flight options are restricted which is really an issue for us. I think we are back to Sapphire Preferred and Reserve and 2 United cards for DD1 (P2). I'm not sure the Sapphire cards would be a feasible option for DD2. I just hate to see them go all in on the United cards to find out the saver seats aren't available for the flight we need.

Everyone's help is much appreciated, we really got great information on the cards in a really short timeline. If we would have had to research all of this on our own I'm sure we would still be looking into the options and likely making a critical error.

The only way to see GE appts available it is to fill out the form and get approved, right? Like I said before I want to use a cc credit for my dsis, but don't want to 'waste' it on apping for GE if there's no appts available in a normal time frame
I had this bookmarked. I have not tried it myself, but seems like a free way to get alerts for GE appts. Also has a page which shows current wait times (if you didn't use an alert service).

So I'm reading Cap 1 can be harsh when it comes to recent cards. So I guess I'll see if they deny me, LOL.

Right now I have the CSP and CSR. I kept both last year when my renewal hit, knowing I'd be booking the trip to Ireland again (third times the charm, right?). So I booked that on the CSP. And I had stuff booked on the CSR too (cruise and Ireland try 2, both were cancelled, LOL). My AF will hit for both in Nov. I'm thinking w/ the $10 for the CSP a month (door dash), I'll keep that card. But I'm debating the CSR, if I get the Venture X. Do I need both? Right now I have the CIP and I'd have the CSP to transfer URs. I'd have PP w/ the Venture X. Sounds like the insurance might be the same on both cards (CSR and Venture X) plus I'd have the CSP still.

Is there a reason to keep the CSR? Right now I've yet to use a CSR lounge. And I think most allow at least 1 visit for PP members, right? I just don't know if there's a reason to keep the CSR if I get the Venture X.

Should I downgrade the CSR? I have the OG freedom and the flex (from downgrading my OG CSR). My OG freedom is my oldest card I think. If I wanted to, I can always upgrade my CSP right? I wouldn't be eligible for any new SUB till 2026, LOL.

I have enough AA miles for 2.5 RT tix ORD to BZN for our Yellowstone trips next year. I need to book a one way return ticket. Goal is $0 OOP.
Options are:
Refundable tix thru Chase portal 24,965 UR
Refundable cash tix thru AA $375, then use URs for cashback to cover.

Would you risk booking thru Chase portal for airline tix? I have only ever booked hotel or activities thru the portal.

I booked through Chase part UR part cash. My flight had no issues so I can’t comment on how it would’ve played out if there were to be any issues. I did end up modifying my flight to another date and was able to easily do so through the Chase portal.

My flight did go on sale after I bought and they would not modify for a credit, it was a non refundable flight.

I have booked several flights through the Chase portal, though typically non-refundable. None of these flights had operational issues though and were booked fairly close-in, so I can't say what would have happened. The only issues I've run into were codeshare baggage/seat selection issues.

For the 12.5k UR you'll save, I would book through the portal. I would make sure you book one of the adults through the portal though, of course, instead of DS.

And I'd keep an eye if the flight points drop, allowing you to get all 3 tickets directly from AA.

I'd use the pre approval thing cap 1 has ans then decide. I wouldn't do anything with the csr until you know if you have the card. Cap 1 won't pre-approve me for the x and they always send me money about being pre-approved for the quicksilver which I don't want. I have 2 savings accounts with them, which doesn't matter.

They want people that will pay interest so having a lot of available credit and low to no balances, along with too many new cards for them and it's going to be a denial.

I hear there are targeted offers for 250k points SUB for AMEX Platinum Business Cards. I keep looking, but I guess I am not targeted, I also heard it was a referral offer. So does that mean someone can refer a link to me for the 250k SUB?

Thanks for the input! DH and DS booked through DH AA account RT. My outbound is booked through my AA account so it would be my return flight booked separately. We're about 8 months out, so lots of time though the Chase portal says "only 7 seats left!" AA shows most seats open.

ETA. All flights booked. Was also able to cancel hotel booked through portal for 22k UR as the AA flight is non-stop arriving around noon instead of the SW option which would have us landing after 5 pm. Yay!
