Not a CC question, but kind of related. My husband got the CSR card and they had an offer of 3 months of Marriott Gold status along with a challenge to keep Gold through Feb 2025 if you stay 3 paid nights during your promo time. He has a convention stay book at the Swan Reserve. Booked through the convention site so it’s not showing up in his Marriott account as an upcoming stay. He was able to add his Marriott number at booking and he is paying for it (convention rate-allegedly, it’s still pretty pricy). It’s not one of those cases where the convention picks up the hotel bill. Would this booking count for the Marriott challenge?

Thanks for the input. We decided we don’t want to risk our relationship with Chase with too many apps. They locked me down a few years ago for both business and personal and it was a royal pain going back and forth before they finally opened me back up. I don’t know that they keep eyes on my accounts but don’t want to push the envelope after being denied.

We came up with a spending plan to hit the CP. It’s a bit aggressive but luckily the credit limit is high enough on her card that we should be able to get there in 2 months without having to cycle payments. I think our big ticket items will get us over halfway there and just going to use that card for everything else. We are not going to spend just for the sake of spending, and will make up whatever our shortage is in December in gift cards that we’ll spend in 2025.

We evaluated if we’ll get enough value out of the CP in 2025 to go this route and think we will. Luckily, it’s attainable without having to earn another credit card bonus.
Check your SW accounts and see if either of you have an offer of 7x SW points on Amazon, restaurants and grocery stores up to $1,000 spend…..found it on my account just now

Got a targeted spend offer on the Aviator Red. Tiered and maxes out at 5000 AA miles spending at least $100 each month from Oct-Dec. Card is coming up for renewal, but Barclays AF refund is reportedly 60 days, so think I can still make it.

Offer was e-mailed. I can also see it in the AA account under promotions.

Quick question for Hyatt CC holders, do you get a free night for paying the initial AF, or is it only after paying subsequent ones every card anniversary? I plan to apply later this Fall and I'll likely keep the card long term.
yes ~ 2 months after your 2nd annual fee hits and at 15k spend

I just got this from chase seems like if I book a hotel for $500+ I get 20k points.
Did you get this as an email? I was able to pull it up on my Freedom Flex by checking mybonus, but didn't get an email about it directly. I do have the other Chase offer ($100 back after spending $500 on the portal) on several cards and have wondered if it'll stack.

They are also doing a game this week in which you can win miles. You can enter daily.

Make sure to check your Chase card offers. I had another AT&T offer to make two $37.50 payments and get $75 credit. It says new wireless customers only, but it worked for me last month with payments on my regular bill. Now if I could just get a few Office Depot 10% offers, I can finish off my gift cards for my upcoming trip.

DH got this as well. Wish I had it, I have all the other AA miles already! Still going to do it, though

My son and his wife eloped (about 12 of us in attendance) in Colorado, earlier this year. They had toyed with having an event back home that everyone could celebrate, which sounded sort of like a second wedding. Anyway, they've changed their minds on that, so now that there's not a second wedding, we wanted to gift them a mini honeymoon. They had told us they were going to try to book a trip between the week of Christmas and New Years (quite the tall ask, but she is a special ed school teacher)... and we just had to piece together a mini honeymoon if I could.

Anyway, I set an alert for Alila Ventana Big Sur and it hit for dates that week after Christmas. I booked flights, etc. They might extend the trip to other areas of California, so if there's any suggestions, please share.

I did make a note on the reservation re: their honeymoon. Anyway, I just want it to be special for them; they are going through a fresh loss. They are really sweet kids. I don't have Hyatt status so I think room upgrades are doubtful, but do you think an email to the hotel about their honeymoon would help? Anyone have a good contact? They're honestly very down to earth and will be happy with the standard room.

Also, any advice on booking the activities? It asks for room number/confirmation number, but says "invalid last name and room number." Can these not be booked in advance?

Any other details I should know of? I did search here and the hotel review thread and read those details; thanks to everyone who has shared.

Probably not as it's through a third party booking site. Read through the T&C's of the offer and it may say so there.

I haven't stayed at Swan Reserve but may be doing so for a night or two this winter. Niece stayed and said it was a lovely hotel, and they had a great Epcot fireworks view.

I've been gold with Marriott for many years like 20 plus and just the last five or six years I've been platinum. Neither give much in the line of perks.

Congratulation to them. I have the email from the concierge that we worked with in 2022. But I’m not sure he’s still there.

My DH got the same offer. I noticed it says "Loyalty points". Do you think they are also good AA miles too, not just loyalty points?

Not the same offer, there are two offers out there. The loyalty points are for chasing status, it won't be the same as miles. Alas, that's the one I got, too, while DH got the miles one

Yes, the stay should count. Using a group rate doesn't negate that it is a paid night that should earn elite credits. He will, however, probably have to put in a missing stay request through the website in order to get it to credit. They usually seem to see if they can get away with not giving the credit first.

That said, I'll echo @Judique and say that Marriott Gold is basically worthless (except for earning a fraction more points per stay, which would be useful if he travels for work regularly). The Marriott status program as a whole is probably the worst out of the major chains. I'm a lifetime plat member and rarely stay at Marriotts anymore because any benefits are so hit or miss.

Good morning... would like your opinions please!

I do not stay at Marriotts for cash (ever)... only free nights or with points that I've transferred. But for some reason I am sitting at 24 stays for the year. (I occasionally travel for work conferences and I guess those are mostly held at Marriott branded properties.). I am currently "Silver Elite" and if I stay one more night this year (I believe calendar year), I get bumped up to Gold Elite.

I have a couple of Marriott stays (one night each) coming up next summer but those are booked on points.

My question to you is, for someone in my situation, is there any actual benefit to staying one more night this year so that I can move to Gold Elite? I personally am not seeing it but this group is always so good at pointing things out that I've missed, I thought I'd ask.

I do currently hold the Chase Marriott Boundless and I did just receive my anniversary FNC (up to 35K points which I imagine I'll have a hard time finding a use for)... if that makes a difference.

Thank you!

Just a reminder you can add points to your FNC up to 15000 points. I’m using 3 to stay at Fairfield Anaheim Resort for DL in Dec. the nights were 40k a night when I booked.
