Now come dues. Credit card bonuses can help there also.
I have normally been a Disney GC person, but in reality it's time consuming and comes with a small amount of risk. Opening a new card for a sub every year to pay dues is super smart. Another reason to stay under 5/24 wth Chase. Chase codes dues as travel for 3X.

Hello All !! Looking for assistance on best cards for our trip to Aulani 1/2026. I could ramble on so going to try really hard to stick to the facts and not make this more convoluted than need be. We = me, my oldest DD1 and family (SiL, DGS and DGD), my youngest DD2 and family (SiL, and DGD x 2). Ideally we would like to fly out of Chicago on United NS both ways.

We are all 0/24
for reference I have. I should consider cycling all of them but haven't had time to figure out the process.
AMEX Plat
Delta Plat business
Chase Resv
United (downgraded to the no AF version)
Southwest personal
Southwest business

DD1 and SiL both have
Southwest
Delta Gold

DD2 and SiL both have
Southwest

DD1 is looking at Sapphire Preferred for both her and SIL
They could also both get United

DD2 I'm thinking United personal
SIL United business

I have enough AMEX pnts for me and DD2 and family but it would be nice if she could get enough pnts for at least her and SIL.

Questions (and some comments) below.
DD1 wants to go with CSP, I think CSR is the way to go but maybe in their case one of each, your thoughts please.
I really don't get United's Award system, why can't you just use pnt for flights the way Delta and SW's platforms work?
I was told once that we would not be able to get 9 United Awards seats R/T so wondering if United is a good option?

Delta is an option but when we went in 2023 DD1 and family and I departed from Detroit and had a pretty terrible experience both ways. DD2 and family departed Chicago and had a fantastic experience, which has always been our experience on United to HI. DD1 and I are not up to taking a chance on Delta again if we don't have to, but they do have the best schedule by far after United's NS flights so never say never. I fly Delta all the time just not interested in flying to HI with them ever again.
Also, I used to have access to the Reddit site but seem to have lost it so would like access again if possible.

Thank you, thank you!
Alice

Amex doesn't transfer to United if that's what you were thinking. You can transfer to Delta. Or you can buy a flight through Amex Travel at 1 cent per point and a 35% rebate if you have a business plat (need to select United as your airline). It's like paying cash with the same cancellation policies and you'd probably need to go through Amex Travel for any changes.

Chase UR can transfer to United. Your no AF United card can see the expanded and sometimes discounted availability. Whoever else will be booking with miles will also need a United card to book that availability. United has a pretty good calendar view, so you can see how often the saver availability comes up. If your dates aren't flexible, you might need more miles or a back-up plan.

Does anyone have any suggestions for which credit card is the best for rewards from purchases at BJs. Particularly disney gift cards purchased from bjs?
Thank you

Just burned a /24 spot (he is now 2/24, for two whole years) on a Disney premier LOL. I really wanted that $400 and the $100 support fee. I don't think I will burn a spot for my own, it would put me at 3/24 for 11 months. Once again, Chase put this one in p2s mystery account. I had to create a new login for this personal card. I just don't get it. I have always had the same SS in all of his accounts, and he has 3 pers and 1 or 2 biz in the original accounts, but the last 2 biz accounts and this personal, with all the same info, go into mystery land.

We need an extra full size suitcase for our trip next month, so it will be me, DD and 3 25 inch suitcases. Trying to decide how to get to the BWV from MCO. Is Uber/Lyft a possibility with 3 big bags? Would the XL be the way to go?

We can get two 25s and two carryon sized rollers into most full size sedan trunks. I would think you'd be totally fine with 3 25s with only two adults, as you'll still have room in the body of the car where up to 2 more riders are supposed to fit.

I think now my bigger issue might be getting 3 25inch rollers into my Kia Soul LOL!

Other people here may have much better suggestions but I use a cc from AAA that give me 3% cash back at BJ's/Costo (5% at Food stores and 3% at gas stations).

But you only have two in the car, right? That's a whole backseat for luggage!

This is coming from someone who cheaped out and rented a full size sedan for a family of 5 including 4 suitcases and 5 personal item bags. We ended up emptying one of the carryons into the space under the trunk liner where the spare tire goes to make everything fit. Literally had packing cubes laying all around and in the spare tire, but we saved that hundred bucks on the minivan!!!

I did the same in February/March supporting DH for the Disney Premier felt it was worth it since we were both denied for Inks….we have since gotten more Inks but with everything tightening up again not sure what we will do next since we don’t have a lot of spend and just stick with Chase since we use URs to book hotels and transfer them to SW

Have you seen the back of a Kia soul?🤣🤣🤣 I have to put the backseat down just for one suitcase 🤣

Actually, as of March 2024 the T&C have changed and the flights include, AK, HI, Central America and the Caribbean, which is a HUGE benefit and change!
OMG that might be a game changer to push us to Delta again. I have had Delta Gold or Plat for about 6 years now but have never taken advantage of the companion flight. Is it as easy as booking with points or are there restrictions? Would love to hear if anyone has had the opportunity to use this for HI.

I've used my companion certs every year I've had the Plat. DH has one as well. We usually use them to go to the West coast from the East. I've never had an issue trying to use them. It's essentially buy one get one. When you go to book, you just select the companion cert and then search for flights. It will then include the "free" seat as you make the reservation. It's very easy.
