Also thinking about getting the Barclays Biz AA. Our last Barclays AA card was opened 3/2019 and closed 4/2020, so I'm assuming we would qualify for the bonus. It says "Existing accounts and previous cardmembers with accounts closed in the past 24 months may not be eligible for this offer." But we're 25 months since closed, so should be good right? Unless Barclays does something wonky... please tell me they don't....
You are good to apply. Even if you were within the 24 months, this Biz card appears to be a new product. I was able to recon the card last month, I had previously closed it 8/20.

No DPs reported after that brief period in Feb. There we also reports of the cards being removed from the CR for those that were affected.

I think it was a glitch and not a new policy. Kinda like not charging renewal AFs for 6 months. They finally got around to fixing that glitch this week. Fortunately it seems like they fixed the other one quicker!
Dang it! I was one of the lucky ones who didn't have the AF post. I cancelled the personal back in Oct when the AF posted and kept this one. I need to have 1 card for the free bags this summer for my 2 trips. I would love to close and churn this. But I got it 10/20 and obv still have it. I had the citi biz cards but closed those too, and I don't think I'm up for a SUB w/ those right now, since it moves to 4 years. So I think I'm stuck keeping the Barclay biz for now and hoping they still have a nice offer when I can jump on this. If I knew 100% I could cancel and get it again, I'd risk possibly not getting the bonus. But it took me like 7 tries to get this card the last time, LOL.

Has anyone done a Ticketmaster verified fan platform thing? Can I be on both the Amex verified list and the general verified list? I can't seem to find an answer to that. Follow up, can dh (with a separate Ticketmaster acct) be on the general list?

Harry Styles, 5 nights, I'm trying. This seems stressful. Assuming I get past this first round, it's still first come first serve.

I haven't done a verified fan thing like they are doing for this one. In the past when I've done it, it's been a much quicker timeframe between verified and ticket purchase. I'm trying for this too as my YDD would be in heaven if I can pull this off. I think even with the verification, it will be luck of the fastest internet to get tickets. I did like that you ranked your dates in the verification. Maybe that will help.
Thank you for the Harry heads up! My 17yo lmk he was touring again, but didn't tell me we needed to do this step. She did Detroit, Cleveland and Little Rock last tour (buying off stub hub). She THINKS she's doing Chicago, NY and Austin. We'll see. I've signed up for shows. She's signing up for shows. My mom and sister are signing up, and my BFF. I'm hoping this gets her something. If not, that child probably dropped $2k doing his shows prior, so I see her doing that again, LOL. Heck she wants to go to his show 5/20 and seems to think I'm nuts for not agreeing to allow two 17yos to drive to NYC solo for it. My sister lives in NJ, so she seems to think they can park in NJ, train to the show and then back to her house. Ummmm, no!

I wonder if I cancel my existing if I can have this luck, LOL.

Back to the Harry tickets....looks like it will allow you to sign up for both. And we're having everyone under the sun w/ a TM acct sign up, LOL. The more chances we have of getting at least 1 shot of tickets when they release.

I put all the dates in for Austin in order, but I'm wondering if I should switch them up. We can do any date.

My oldest attempted the NY show later this month, but was waitlisted.

Do you think the Amex VF has a better shot at it than the general?

I signed up for both. In a normal sale they have a number of tickets put aside for the Amex presales. And then normally the sale to general public. I look at this like it's the same. So I figure we'll try to double our chances, LOL.

I know the vanilla plat has some car rental status. Are there any other cards that do?

Booked a rental for next March with enterprise through costco. I realize I may change it between now and then but since it's 210 for a compact for 3 days and is like half what unpaid for 4 days this past March I figure it probably won't go down.

Do you know about the Undercover Tourist ticket trick? Buy ANY ticket (a “ticket” for an AMC movie theater fountain drink is like $3) when you rent a car through UCT, and you get up to 50% off the car rental. We saved a TON on our Orlando rental in July that way.

Renting in phoenix and when I checked UT for this past March it was a lot more than Costco.

Count me in on experience with Mohs, but not under the eye. My derm has been able to do all of mine without plastic intervention. I’ve had one on my head(scalp on my part), corner of lip, top of sternum and shoulder. All healed fairly easily.
My sister had her nostril reconstructed. Derm did the Mohs, plastic finished. It was a process of several weeks, with various steps. Large initial incision that needed lots of sun protection. Looks amazing now.
Honestly, if it was me, I would enjoy your vacation first. BCC is not going to spread so no worries there. That way you enjoy your vacation and have the time to heal etc at home!

Let us know when you get the final results. Any kind of carcinoma sends shivers through me, but sounds like you are dealing with it as well as can be expected. Will keep you in my thoughts and prayers for a quick healing and recovery. No thoughts on flights as I'm just not a flyer right now.

I also had a BCC and Mohs removal but it was my leg. I recall being told no pool or beach and keep it clean and covered. I had to change bandaging and apply mupirocin every day. We live in Florida where it is hot and humid anyhow. I am sure that it may be a bit more uncomfortable under the eye but I would think you'd be pretty well healed up by then anyhow.

If there is scarring that you might be self conscious about for pictures, large sunglasses may help cover that or use kid's adhesive optho patches (Amazon carries them) to cover it up. I use the kid's eye patches periodically over my right eye when it is acting up and won't blink from the nerve damage. I don't mind how the eye patches look in pictures. I have them in lots of different designs and colors and bring them on trips to coordinate with my outfits, just in case I have a flare up. I've accepted them as cute and fun accessories. I also will use them as an aesthetics solution for a picture when my eye refuses to stay completely open. I'd be really upset if I was on a trip and hated all my pictures because I looked like Quasimodo. I'd rather slap a patch on and take a picture that makes me smile instead of cry. It's vain and trivial in the grand scheme of things I know. Anyhow, I hope you don't wind up with temporary scarring that affects how you feel about yourself. I'm contemplating surgery next year for my nerve damage that will hopefully get my face/smile more symmetrical.

I have had Moh's, no plastic surgery (though in retrospect I should've because the scar is quite large, but it's on my shoulder so doesn't bother me). I had the surgery on a Tuesday and on Friday we were on a plane from Boca to Toronto. I was advised against travel, but it was fine. I think 60 days pre-trip would be fine, just wear a large hat to protect your face from the sun; the derm may sell special sunscreen that might be worth considering for protection from SPF rays on your face.

Thanks everyone for the good advice- it's been super helpful. Pathology did come back today as basal cell carcinoma. Sounds like I'll have a surgical consultation in about a week, and then sounds like Mohs is booked out until about mid-July. That timing will work well if we choose to do our Italy trip.
I don't plan to share with my kids/family as the word "cancer" has a lot of baggage and I really don't see it as helpful to anyone. Maybe after the procedure. While technically this is a skin cancer, it's really such a minor thing with a hopefully straightforward resolution; I just don't want anyone to have any unnecessary feelings and worry.
I have some risk factors my kids don't have, such as fair skin/blue eyed (they are latino), use of tanning bed in my teens/young adult, and I'm a former flight crew member. Flight crew members have something like a 7 fold risk for skin cancer versus the average person due to the radiation/proximity to space.

I just wanted to update as requested, but it will be my last update, as I know peeps come here as a relief from the real world. I bought myself a pretty sunhat and sunglasses- retail therapy helps everything.

Sharing a few DPs:

- Before I went 5/24, I wanted to app for a Chase biz card. I was advised to app for the C1 Venture X first (inquiry sensitive) and then the Chase biz card afterwards, as the VentureX wouldn't show up on my credit report just yet. Apped for VentureX on 3/10 and it just now posted to my credit report, after the second statement closed.

- DH was successful in his biz checking account appointment with Wells Fargo for the $1500 bonus.

Good luck with all of it.

Anyone know if Capital One has issues with buying gift cards during the MSR? It would come through from Kroger but through BlackHawk Network, so obviously a GC purchase.

I am going to give you a recommendation which provides for very versatile rewards, but may not be ideal for your Disney vacation. I recommend each of you get a Chase Sapphire Preferred card. Right now, there's an offer for 80,000 Chase Ultimate Reward (URs) points for spending $4,000 in 3 months, $95 Annual Fee. Here's the steps:
  1. Ideally, use a support link from someone here on Dischurners (you'll be invited if you aren't already a member) and open a card for P1 (player1).
  2. Once that card is open, P1 creates a support link for the other spouse, and that spouse opens the same card, earning 20,000 UR support points.
Don't add each other as authorized users on each others cards- as that will limit the number of new cards you can open in a 24 month period. When applying, you may use "household income" as your income, so your personal income level won't be relevant.

The above steps will earn you these URs:

80,000 P1 card
4,000 P1 spending $4,000 and earning at least 1point/$1
20,000 support points
80,000 P2 card
4,000 P2 spending $4,000 and earning at least 1point/$1
--------------
188.000 points

The problem with Chase points is that you can't use those points to purchase Disney tickets or book Disney properties. You could however use it to book hotels near Disney through the portal. If you use the portal, each point is worth 1.25 cents, so 188,000 points would be worth $2350! And you can combine URs within the same household, so you can essentially pool your points together to making booking easier.

There are also Pay Yourself Back categories, which is essentially using points to erase the purchase cost. Right now for the CSP, those categories are AirBNB and dining. So if you spend a lot in those categories, you can erase $2350 using those 188,000 points. Some people will mentally take that savings from their everyday dining spend, and then apply that towards their Disney tickets. Hope that makes sense. Feel free to ask more questions.
Ok I’m ready to open a card for myself. How do I use a support link from someone here on dischurners?

Reason #42859 why I prefer hotel over AirBnB/Vrbo/etc:

I spent hours combing listings, finding the right condo with hosts I feel trustworthy and reviews I felt were good (enough). Paid for half my AirBnB stay and, thankfully PYB'd via UR. Talked my friends into selecting the same location in Panama City Beach (a place I'm not super excited to go play softball in July) only to have the hosts cancel on me today due to selling. :headache: At least it's today and not the week before/day of my stay, but still. My biggest fear is showing up to find whatever I've book is not available to me.

The new owner requires me to book via Vacasa. That means my UR PYB would be at 1x for at least half the stay assuming she honors the same pricing because I will not have enough dining charges to offset that. That's an extra 50k UR. :headache: PCB is not cheap. I could do Disney cheaper.

So, I'm once again combing AirBnb trying to find a unit at the same complex, hopefully with the same dedicated parking spot deal.

I thought this was the final blow to my cruddy week, but after this (and a whole host of other things this week), I pulled my yoga pants out of my drawer to find a loose thread/seam. That just made me break down lol

But, in other news, I ordered a new dishwasher from Costco because it was on sale, I have the funds for it and it'll put me close to finishing my CIU MSR so at least there's that.
