My guys went to Phoenix for the NASCAR Championship and the full size rental never got under $580 and went up as high as $900. We are going in two weeks, no race, and I still can’t get it under $500

I have 441 for the 4 days through Costco. Looked again tonight and it was the same price. Oh well, the price is what it is.

Let me know how it works for you. They are requesting same docs from my DH for a CIC. If they told you that the SS card and drivers license is enough, then I may try that as well.
I called Chase again yesterday about my United biz application after I uploaded my drivers license and SS card to make sure they were in the system. The first agent I spoke with said they had received them and put me on hold so he could check the status of my application. Then the call dropped. I called back and spoke with another agent and she said my application was still pending. Ten minutes later I got an email that I was approved! Didn’t see the email till the evening. Called Chase back to have card expedited. Was hoping to use on Monday for a high spend but CL is only $5000 so I have another card to meet the MSR. And of course now there’s a support link that I could have gotten from P2 but was not available last week when I applied.
On another note, my sister got instant approval on the Venture X card! She and I are traveling to Germany in May (her 1st time to Europe!) This is her first time getting a Cap one card and she’s retired. Her DH still works.

What happens if I have two of us on one confirmation booking thru SWA,but one person can't go at the last minute? do I need to do anything? It's on points....

I didn't know NASCAR went to Phoenix. Just looked it up and I'll be leaving Arizona the weekend it is. I booked March or April 2021 and got $563 for 7 days (intermediate SUV). It really hasn't gone down since then. Since you just checked you probably already saw this; I checked mine in my weekly review and see that Costco is offering $20 Shop cards on AVIS and Budget rentals (at least for my week). Still not beating my original booking but I think prices are slightly less than they were a few weeks ago.

UR booking question - I'd like to book 3 nights in June at HRH at Universal. I have approx. 72k UR points, but the 3 nights is 167k UR's. If I book using up all of my UR's and pay the rest in cash, is the cash portion due at the time of booking? I tried using the portal, but I don't want to actually hit the redeem button to see if it makes me put the rest on a credit card. Does anyone know if the cash portion would be due at the time of booking? My other option is to just book one night using points, and book the cash portion on a separate ressie, but then I have to deal with two different reservation numbers, and I'd lose out on part of the 1.25 multiplier. TIA!

Also, another separate question - I'm thinking about having DH try for a Cap One Venture or Venture X. Does the CapOne travel portal have Disney and Universal tickets? Just trying to think how we would use the rewards. Thank you! Oh, and sorry if this is repetitive, I think I've seen this discussed before but just want to make sure.

You can buy Disney through UCT and use your miles to cover it. I just did this with my X two weeks ago.

I’ve got the CSR, and I’m looking at booking a car rental through the Chase portal. If I use URs, do I still get insurance coverage from my CSR? If not, can I put $1 of the cost on my CSR, pay the rest with points, and get coverage?

I have a balance on a 0% that expires on 3/1. I plan to pay it off. The statement close is 2/5. Do I need to pay it before 2/5 so the statement including 3/1 is at $0 or do I just need to pay it before 3/1? I know it's not a material difference but all these months when I've been planning my payoff, I wondered.
Just needs to be paid off by 3/1.

I'm not sure if this is the best place to post this question, so if it is not, my apologies:

I'd previously indicated I'm looking at applying for a Delta AmEx to take advantage of free bag fees. I'm also considering applying for a Disney Visa in the hope that we might get a discount offered for our early June trip, staying at BC (but hoping to switch to YC if a non CL room opens up as the recent discounts have been better). My question is: Is there any reason to think there might yet be a cardholder discount offered for that timeframe this late in the game? I'm no churner, and I know the Disney cards are not a good choice for rewards, but the potential discounts could be fairly valuable (if they materialize).

TIA for the advice!

Do you have a specific redemption in mind and do you have additional Marriott points to add in the event the price is greater than 50K? And are you prepared to use the FNC's within a year? Can you book in advance to lock in your redemption pending the award of the SUB? Also take into account that the SUB may take time to be deposited. I do think it is a 'good' offer but you have to be realistic about what you may get out of it.

If you can get a $300 a night room times 5 nights for a $95 fee, that's a decent return.
If you are going to be speculating and hoping for something good after applying, Marriott will find a way to disappoint you.

Meanwhile, last September I used 320K points to book an ocean view at the Westin on Maui, for son and dil's honeymoon and they got upgraded to Hokupa'a - a $1300ish a night room at the time with lanai/food access. I'm platinum with Marriott. That redemption is in the ballpark of a 50K plus 15K points(with March's upcoming new rules. Just saying there is still stuff out there but you have to shop carefully and strategize. No guarantees there will be anything you specifically would find attractive.

I still have a small boatload of Marriott points. Still getting some value. But then, value is in the eye of the beholder.
I agree with this to some degree, but tbh how far did you plan this ahead? it used to be SUPER simple to book Marriot I'm guessing you had this planned out for a while now. After looking for months for a 4 -6 month out the window for my 50k cert for a room that used to be 35k and hearing about the devaluations that seem very plausible to me at least I'm pretty sure I'm done with them I'm the same level as you but I have less then 100k now I've been burning them as quick as I can.

I have a delta reserve card but I find value in the free first class BOGO. If you put serious spend like 25-50k+ on this the mqms are worth it if not the gold IMO is way better than the blue card, not sure which one you got. My DW and I treat ourselves once a year (when its not points lol) with the bogo. Disney visa I've had it about ~5 years now I haven't seen those card deals as often pre-pandemic usually Florida resident or pass holder is better, I did see one where I combined them. I find a lot of value in the 10% off and the 30% off over 100$ deals they do all the time (what can I say like id imagine most of you here are suckers for Disney merch). I have used the discount on a cruise massage once but I think I got better points overall with the CSR so I guess it's a give and take.

Are you asking about the Maui reservation? If so, I made the reservation on June 17th, 2021 for the stay starting September 20, 2021. Looked it up in my email. Also, made an advance deposit to the room using my Brilliant credit, and by doing that, American Express also credited me for a $50 off $250 offer I had added to the card. Meanwhile my card renewed and I was able to have my son apply the next credit at the desk to some additional charges. Worked out really well.

I think the key is to not get too invested in any one program. I have Hilton, IHG, Radisson, Marriott, Hyatt, and Wyndham points, as well as DVC for hotel rooms.

If I were looking at an aspirational property or trip, I would focus on maximizing that. Right now, I focus on some fairly free hotel rooms. Although I have platinum status I am not concerned with perks, but I do read t&c's and watch that I get what is promised.

Thanks for the response, reliev.

I've not gotten a card yet, but looking at the gold. Blue doesn't get free bags, iirc, and we don't spend enough or travel enough to make the other options worth it to us.

For the Disney card, we typically go once every few years and might be able to take advantage of the merch discount once or twice during those trips. Overall, I'm feeling more and more like the Disney card just isn't work the hit to my credit and wouldn't serve us well in the long-run.
