I'm booking a flight on Delta and will pay with my Amex Plat. Is there any reason why I should not book this fight through the Amex travel portal? It's the same rate as if booking through Delta but it looks like I'll earn 5x the points in the portal. I've just never done it this way before so I wanted to double check in case I was missing something.

I just applied for the capital one venture X card using a support link from Reddit. Got instant approval! And an absurd credit limit! Just FYI, on the application it said that the offer ends on 12/7/2021. I just did my own first support link on Reddit. I’m very technically challenged so I could send you to some obscure place or another planet, don’t be surprised! Ha ha Ha

Any good resources on best ways to use airline incidentals credit for AMEX platinum?

My "go to" airline was Frontier since you have to pay for pretty much everything and I use them frequently. However, I am getting 100k status match soon and I don't see how I can really spend any money on incidentals with them. I will also have CP status on SW for 2022, so that will be my primary airline.

I am not sure what other airline I will fly that I can easily use the credit. Allegiant has some odd flights from my home airport that I MIGHT use. But I have to commit to an airline early in the year right? Or can I wait and just change airline from Frontier when I have found a flight on another airline that makes sense to use the credit?

Should I choose Southwest and hope that some of my flights are so cheap it thinks it is an incidental?
Allegient as far as I know isn't an option for the airline credit. I was able to change my airline from SW to Delta in September of this year since I had not used any of the credit. Once you use any of it you are locked in. There are lots of data points on FlyerTalk about getting the credit on SW flights. In the past I usually used it on Upgraded Boarding or adding EBCI the day after I bought the ticket.

You will earn 5x booking directly through Delta as well. No need to go through the portal.

I decided to apply for the Chase Aeroplan card yesterday since I can more than meet the $4k MSR with dd's January tuition payment. For the first time (on a personal card) I got the 7 - 10 day message -- is that good or bad? I am 4/24 and haven't applied for a Chase personal card since December, 2020.

On another note I also applied for the TD First Class Travel (FCT) Visa (Cdn card) yesterday -- it was the last day for their 100k point offer (which translates to $450.00 towards a hotel stay on their portal) -- and I got instant approval. MSR is $1k. Will be my second FCT card -- I PS'd a TD Aeroplan card to the FCT in the summer. DPs suggest that since it was a PS I am eligible to get the bonus for a second card. I can use $900 towards a hotel stay without any issues.

That’s instant denial… are you sure you are 4/24???

I just realized that SW is only extending their calendar to 6/4… ugh. Now I’m going to have to book dummy flights to use DH’s Plat credits

Do you know if we can use the AMEX $10/$50 at Amazon for Amazon gift cards? I only see this exclusion...

Excludes corporate gift card and custom-designed gift card purchases
answering my own question again LOL. Yes you can. I got a screaming deal on Air Pod Pros this morning. They were on sale for $169.99 had a 30% off up to 50, using Amex MR points, which took of $50. Then I had 2 $10/50 on Amex cards so I reloaded my gift card balance with each of those, and then I got 2 $10 Amazon gift cards from Fetch. Once the $10 offers credit, I paid a total of $88.84. Works for me! Now to tell my husband without offending him, as I have Bose headphones he bought me a few years back too.

So my puppy has ridden in my boss’ Lexus with no issues and the other day I took her in my son’s Acura with no issues. But I can’t get her out of the neighborhood in my van without her dripping in drool. Bonine helps tremendously. But I would love not to have to drug her.

Interesting, Now that I think about it she rode in my Mom's car without issue. Hrm. Nothing has changed in my truck but now she does not seem to have any issues... Tho I am taking her to Dogtopia now a lot instead of just the vet so maybe she just always associated the ride with the vet....

OT but I know we have several frequent posters with teen boys-- I need recommendations for cologne for high school boy. Stacking the Rakuten codes with some gift cards to knock out the list.

I'm on a spending spree as my SW statement did indeed close yesterday.

This morning I bought new Nikes since my toe is sticking out of my current pair. Dogs got some more canned food from Chewy. The older dog is now only eating off a plate and will only feed herself human food. If I want her to eat caned food mixed with kibble, I have to hand feed it to her. It's fun (part of reason I can't really travel now is no one else is going to feed her like I do). Then I paid my water bill and my personal property tax bill (no cc fee because of the pandemic). Next up is a desk for my bathroom since I'm making a makeup vanity where the tub used to be. I'll be at $25K in no time:)

hmm.., your denial letter should appear in your documents soon. I'm curious to know what it says. Maybe you accidentally typed your social wrong?

Going to pull the trigger today for a CIC application for P2.

Should he go the ebay route (very low revenue, thus low CL) or the consulting route? Would they ask for proof of consulting income? Because it various from year to year.

Thanks.

I really don’t think it matters…from what I and others here have experienced Chase seems to give $3k CLs on the CIC and CIU a lot

Yeah I think it‘s not a SW travel fund - at least that was my understanding- tbh they (Chase Travel) were pretty confused on the whole booking SW thing. I finally just told them to cancel it figuring funds would show up. This morning flight still showed under my account as booked - later it disappeared but no travel fund showing up. Called Chase Travel again today and when asked about booking the earlier (cheaper) flight they said they could but I would forfeit the difference in price. Told them to just book my original flight (which was still at the price I originally got it for. I will try it all over again next week. I am back at square one - on SW site I get the “you cannot change this reservation, purchases made through travel agency cannot be modified on SW dot com”. I hope to get better clarification next talk. Pretty certain I won’t be using Chase Travel to book my SW flights in the future - something has definitely changed over there.
Update to my Chase Travel URs versus SW RR's flight. This morning I decided to start off by calling SW first and just have them look up the confirmation number and let me know if they can help. Immediately the rep said I see it here, looks like you booked it through your work's business? It shows as Global Business booking on their end. Told them about booking with Ultimate Rewards as opposed to transferring them to RR's and now it doesn't appear I am able to keep the difference in price as a travel fund if I change my flight - I'd rather, of course, be able to have the travel credit to use as for a future flight, is there anything you can do for me? She asked what flight do you want to and a minute later told me that your flight has been changed and you have an $89 credit to use by 11/30/22. It would not let me do anything online myself and his was the 3rd SW rep I had talked to over the last few days but I knew it would be easier than trying to talk to Chase Travel again, so it was worth the shot. Worked out and it appears they must have some ability/flexibility to override the global business booking.
For reference this was my thought process in using UR's over transferring. 1. it was a rather expensive one way and it the value was calculating to 1.35cpp. 2. DW (the traveler) needed one more paid trip to reach A-List so I thought that would be nice to have all next year. Everything would have worked fine if the original trip stayed the same but flexibility really suffers if you have to change or cancel the trip according to Chase Travel. I will probably not go this route again in the future. My advice is to do anything you can to first solve via a SW rep versus dealing with Chase Travel.

How weird. I had no issues enrolling DH, but this was a few years ago. If you go back in, do you see a membership number listed? If not, I would try different browsers too.

What does Amex say when you ask them to enroll for you? PP is right that Amex needs to enroll you. Maybe ask Amex to give you the membership number?

ETA: I would also try Amex again during regular business hours. Hopefully you'll get a more knowledgeable agent!
Thanks. I tried different browsers. It doesn't work and there's no member number. Amex phone rep said he was getting a blank page on his end. After 45 minutes and multiple holds, I gave up.
