I love credit cards so much! v4.0 - 2021 (see first page for add'l details)

I see the Goldbelly AmEx offer is expiring in 11 days--does anyone have any suggestions?

I ordered (1) an adorable cake for father's day ($89) (2) Chicken Pho from Slanted Door for 4 ($99) and (3) Frontera Grill Carnitas taco kit for 4-6 ($129). All three arrived on time and were very good. My husband loved the cake from "We Take the Cake" that was a blue men's button-down shirt (super cute) and it was delicious. The Chicken Pho was incredible--so easy and something I would probably order again even without the credits. We love Frontera Grill, but for the price I thought the amount of food was skimpy. It fed 3-4 rather than 4-6. Probably wouldn't order that one again due to portion size.

The credits were a great way to try it out, and I definitely would go back for a special occasion, etc. The only bummer is that Amex only took $50 off initially rather than the $150. UGH. I went through chat and the guy gave me the inevitable 90 day language. I really hate when Amex things don't automatically credit. Now I have to follow it for months :(

My items were all purchased in one transaction but were from different stores. Previous DPs on this thread suggested that was fine, and nothing in the language of the offer says otherwise. The chat guy said it looked to have qualified, but couldn't explain why the credits hadn't been automatically applied.

I'm looking for a new CC suggestion as I'm about to have a few thousand $ of flight expenses I can use to hit min spend on a new card.

Currently in my wallet:
CSR
CFU
CF
United Explorer
Citi DC
Discover IT
Amex Blue Business Plus

My main expenses are typically food and gas. When I fly, it is usually with United since I live near a hub though occasionally will fly Delta. I've been toying with opening an Amex Platinum and getting the MR points as well as taking advantage of the 10x points on gas for the first six months. But the remainder of the benefits I don't know how much I'll use. Before I pull the trigger, are there any other cards I should look into or consider getting instead? :)

I've used MR's to buy gift cards, cashed them out at .09, transferred them to airlines and Marriott. My worst MR transfer has been to Flying blue, transferred 60K MRs for flights we didn't end up taking, now I have 60K points that I might never get to use.

I used MR's for Home Depot gift cards to buy myself a John Deere riding lawn mower. No regrets! And some of those MR's were hanging around collecting dust for maybe 20 years.

I also just chucked 320,000 marriott rewards points in the pot for my son to go to Hawaii.

What I value is having the points to do something with whenever the occasion pops up.

Thanks. They are flying to MSP to Phoenix in November, I didn't see a ton of families when we flew to Phoenix last time.
Is it often not possible to get upgraded boarding at MCO? I'd hate to rely on that, and not be able to get it, but I'd hate to pay for ECBI and then not use it.
I have purchased them a few times…so far they have always been available and they ranged from A1-A8.this is flying to ISP .but I’m sure it varies depending on destination

How about the United Quest with the 100k mile SUB?

I want to try this but I'm worried they'll say "Ok cool it's canceled" and I don't actually want to cancel it.
I would call and tell them your considering canceling the card (insert logical reason) if they don’t offer you anything to keep it open then just politely tell them you’d like to think about it for a few days and hang up. My brother actually did this with his CSR. He ended up calling twice to see if he could get a retention offer, but ended up with nada. Worth a try. All the Chase reps I’ve spoken with are always friendly so it shouldn’t be a difficult call.

We’ve never had a problem upgrading, of course we fly 3-4 times a year so we always have a chance to use the upgrade.

Should you call a specific retention line instead of normal customer service?

It's been 4+ yrs since the bonus so I product changed P2's CSR to the CFU last Friday. How long should I wait before applying for the CSP you think? I was going to wait until statement closed July1. Long enough? Or ok to apply sooner? Any thoughts? Thanks - just recently found this forum - I stumbled across the points and miles CC game in 2012 and have dabbled ever since. Still learning - but really has changed my life quite honestly...

You should wait at least 4 calendar days after you PC a card.

Any DVC experts on this thread? This is the only one I go to on Disboards. lol! I booked nights at AKL Kilimanjaro concierge. The first two nights were not available but the others were. Can I just modify it later to just book the nights that there's availability? Or is the whole reservation on the waitlist and it won't go through unless the first two nights come through? Thanks in advance.

How old is the CSR? If it's been 48 months since you got a Sapphire bonus, then downgrade that card to a CF. Wait a few days, make sure your CLs are <50% of reported income, and then apply for a CSP 100K SUB. This is assuming you are 4/24. If that's not your situation, then the Amex Plat you're considering is a good choice especially if you can pull a 100K or 125K SUB with the 10x groceries and gas. And the Plats earn 5x on flights so you might finish off the MSR pretty quickly if you have a few grand to spend directly with an airline. Since you're flying, maybe you'll be going to airports with Centurion lounges you could get into with the Plat. Just google their locations.

Yes, you can modify if you find availability to add consecutive nights. No, the whole reservation would not be on the waitlist.

But, concierge service was not available last time I checked. The rooms are available and if the service is not available when you go, I think I read that they are compensating with some points returned on the nights - standard view rate. If you've never been, the views aren't that great. If your visit is without the benefit of the lounge offerings, I'd probably look for a Savannah view.

On the positive side, the rooms are right above the lobby. No long walks. The regular rooms are reopening in August but they haven't announced whether Boma or Jiko will reopen at that time. Mara is open for breakfast and dinner.

I've enjoyed CL a few times for a few nights at a time since they opened. It definitely has gotten harder to get, and I've usually done a split stay when I've gone with the longest being 3 nights.

Yes you can modify your current reservation to add or deduct days at either end of the stay. If I were you, I would waitlist both days separately so that it would have a higher chance of matching. That’s what I did last time to piece together a stay at a standard view studio at BWV. Did you book somewhere else for those two days just to make sure you have a place to stay?

Applied for CIU on Saturday evening and I can see the new card on my account this morning! :cool1:Hoping I get the card before the end of the month which I doubt will be a problem. I’m not sure whether I got approved yesterday or this morning. Going to put yesterday’s date on my spreadsheet just to be safe for the MSR date.
