Warning of off topic. I am not able to find the place on Reddit to post. We’re driving to Hilton Head next weekend. Any HHI or SC residents/experts:
  • are the gas station issues mainly resolved? I haven’t heard anything on the news lately.
  • Also, I am having a hard time finding this on the web, what restrictions are still in place? I’m fine with whatever they are, just can’t find it. I can just wait to we get there and follow the signs.
  • are restaurants doing take out? We’ll be cooking some in the condo, but getting take out would be a good break.
thanks. Sorry off topic but I trust you guys here and just not sure what I’d get on other threads. Maybe to bring back to CC, I am using the 750 BOA Biz credit to offset the condo fee.

Is anyone interested in trying out CLEAR for the summer? I have 5 guest passes, each good for 3 months of CLEAR, and for each pass, the person can include up to 3 family members. PM me if you are interested!

(note - I get absolutely nothing if you do this, so it’s not a referral of any sort!)

I'll send you a PM. After I asked about it I read a bunch of articles and it sounds like it probably wouldn't be worth paying for it, but I'd love to try it out this summer. Thanks!

We already have precheck - do you know how it works if you have both? I think MCO has Clear (home airport doesn’t) and we’ll be flying there twice this summer.

Before Covid, at MCO we went to Clear and they walked us over to the front of the precheck line, saved about 7-10 minutes over others in our party that had precheck.

Not an expert, but we’re currently visiting Charleston. So far, no gas issues at all, masks are hardly worn by anyone but are “required” for certain establishments but never enforced as far as I’ve seen, and tons of restaurants doing take-out (like, every single one we’ve looked into)

Capital One question- DH just got a new Cap One venture we will meet most of the MSR on June 1. If he then puts a flight on the card that finishes the MSR, will he be able to erase that flight on the first statement? I guess I’m asking will the SUB post on the first statement and can I use the points to erase a charge that went towards the MSR?

My sister just got back from Hilton Head. She was supposed to drive back to MA at the height of the gas problems, so she stayed an extra week. She ended up leaving SC on 5/21 and didn’t encounter any gas issues the whole ride back.
She said her experience was that there were hardly any Covid restrictions. Hardly anyone wearing masks.

MA to SC that has to be quite a drive. We’ve got 10 hours in front of us and I’m not looking forward to it. Thanks for the info.

We were on HHI the weekend of the gas shortage and there was gas on the island. I was told that HHI wasn't on the Colonial Pipeline, but have no way to verify.

The mask mandate is no longer. I did notice the last time we were there that more people weren't wearing their masks. https://www.islandpacket.com/news/politics-government/article251149574.html

Many restaurants do take out. There is also many places with outdoor seating if you would be comfortable dining outside.

Enjoy HHI!

Early may in Myrtle beach masks weren’t required. We didn’t have a problem with gas but we left just as the gas problem started. We had shortages at home but now it’s not a problem. All the restaurants were open but many offered carry out. Enjoy your trip

As soon as your points post you can erase I didn’t have to wait for the statement. As for sign up to post I think they posted quickly. It’s been a 1.5 years since I got mine though.

Clear seemed to cut the pre check line back in February. Not sure if they still do but in the past there was never a line for clear

No more gas issues. Colonial paid the ransom money - almost 5 million - and things went back to normal in about a week.

Mask mandate is over but if you want to wear a mask you can. I think individual businesses can still require.

Many restaurants do takeout. A caveat to that is if ordering fried seafood such as shrimp....it gets soggy fast in a styrofoam container and is not enjoyable.

@hsmamato2
Is that how that works? I thought it was different. My understanding (and I've never used PYB so I'm probably wrong) was that they would take UR's to cover your cash purchase, essentially crediting you at 1.5 with a CSR and 1.25 with a CSP. You in turn would get a $100 statement credit so nothing out of pocket (other than your UR's).

Basically cashing in your UR's? For CSR they would take 6670 UR's. For CSP they take it at 1.25 rate.

Benefit: your grocery money stays in your pocket. You can use it for other things.
thanks @IFlossU also..... that makes sense. Yes,it automatically was deducted using the TC,and then I could still PYB. Very cool.

Woo-hoo, instant approval for the SW Biz Performance - my first ever attempt at a Biz card! Can I link this to my existing Chase login that I have for my personal cards, or do I have to set up a different online user account since it is a business card?
Congrats! I think this was a great option for you, now you will still have the MDD personal option available to you. I'd second the suggestion of paying tuition early. Also, it wouldn't help for your July trip, but there is currently a Southwest promotion. It's targeted, but I got it for DH and myself. They are listed under promotions, underneath current trips. One is 10,000 points towards a CP with a flight before 7/31. So if you had that you could at least get your CP for the next trip.

Okay just like that, with an online application, I got a CSR card! Thank you!
Congrats! I don't know you 5/24 status, but are you considering the MDD? With the approval yesterday, you'd need the CSP approved today. It really would be a good option for you. Info is on Reddit under Advanced Strategies, you could also use someone's support.

Wow instant approval for a CIC! I don't know if I have ever had an instant Chase biz approval. That spend is going to be a stretch, but hopefully the venmo will still work if necessary.
It's an addiction to not allow myself to be without an MSR LOL.
Well I applied for the CIU, and I got a "we need to review". UGH. So I guess I'll wait a few. Sucks because I can use a MSR right now.

Grrrrrr
If you don’t mind my asking, when were your last Chase applications/new cards before these biz apps? I’m having trouble being approved for a new biz card- been trying to get a CIC- but am denied due to recent inquiries and new requests for credit. Just wondering if the 3 month pacing is not long enough to wait like it used to be or if it’s just my bad luck.
