Dilemma: We are heading to WDW in April and staying off site, so are going to rent a car. Planned on using UR but the prices for cars just seem so much higher than I remember. Looks like I can get the same car thru Costco for about $100-150 cheaper than what the price is on UR. I have the CSR, so I know that helps but looking for feedback on how others handle this kind of situation.
Thank you
Rental prices our outrageous this year. I would use your CSR.

I would pay the cash with your CSR through Costco and then use PYB in equivalent points if you want to erase it.

Is 1h 27min enough transfer time at DFW between domestic flights?

ETA: My son requested to go out west this summer so pricing out Yellowstone to Badlands. Flights are ok (23.5k AA miles) but the car rental is $9k for a car that fits the 6 of us. I am super lost planning these nature, American national park trips. I was so excited to finally make a decision, find decent flights, and surprise the kids when they came home from school but the car thing is a deal breaker.
Are there car rental options away from the airport? I remember having the same issue when we were planning our trip to Disneyland last summer, and found that if we took a cheap Uber off airport property we could save a lot. We also looked a Turo, which is like airbnb for cars.

$9K? Holy cow! Is it a one way rental? Sometimes that's the killer. Rates change all the time. But $9K!!!!!!

Yes. 1.5 hours is more than enough. You'll have plenty of time to grab a snack.

Car rentals are crazy expensive this year - I think a lot of rental companies sold off a lot of vehicles last summer and have limited availability this year. And more people are traveling this summer.

Last July our 9 day rental , a Jeep Wrangler, cost us $400 at SLC airport. This summer our 4 days rental in Bozeman is $351, for a small car. I booked that 10 days ago, I was trying to add a day to our rental and prices have skyrockets, if I add a day it jumps to $550.

I have a question about the Amex limit on number of cards. What counts as a charge card vs. credit card? Are all personal cards credit cards?
I have a Plat, Bonvoy, Hilton Aspire and Bonvoy Biz. Thinking of dumping at least one of the Bonvoys as the FN are becoming harder to use.

OH EM GEE! I received my first Chase Biz Instant approval.
Stats: 4/24 (all in the last 11 months), 2 Chase Biz cards - had 3 until Monday. My last Chase Biz card was 11/20.

CIU $3K CL - don't have much credit to move from my other cards but I'll move as much as I can.

Im jealous. I applied for the CIU yesterday and got the need more time message :(. Not feeling too confident.

Charge cards are the ones that don't have a set credit limit. They include both the personal and biz versions of the Green, Gold, Plat (and Plum). Though there are DPs that the personal Green is counting towards the 4 or 5 CC limit. Speculation maybe it's only the newer Greens. I don't really know what to make of it yet.

In any case, you have 3 credit cards. :)

So the reason for my CIU denial this time was "business structure." It's private practice nutrition/health coaching, and I chose other under services. It doesn't really fit under healthcare, but maybe I should've chosen that. Ugh. There's no point in calling right?

If you feel comfortable talking about your business, you can try recon. Some people have been getting approved that way, sometimes after agreeing to shift CL from another business card.

This seems like a good list for the type of questions they might ask:

Looking for input for what I should do next. Goal is to maximize points that can be used for travel.

Opened in last two years, only 2:
05/19 - Chase Sapphire Preferred
01/21 - AmEx Platinum - finished MSR this week

I currently hold a Chase SW Plus and Chase SW Preferred, but am leaning toward cancelling one or both. I also have a Chase Slate that I want to cancel - I only used it for a 0% balance transfer about 5 years ago. I have a Delta AmEx Gold that I use when there are good offers on the card, otherwise I don't use it much. I have a BOA card that was my first ever card, and has been open for about 20 years. I'm thinking I should keep that one as it helps raise the average age of my accounts. Then there are a variety of store cards in the mix, which I use only for discounts at those stores.

I try to run whatever I can through my cards

Due to the CSP, I'm not eligible for the CSR until late 2022, if I understand that correctly (40 months, right?). I try to run whatever I can through my cards, but am currently using AmEx Plat for groceries for the 10x points. I could probably manage at least $1,000 / mo on another card, but I am also looking to book a vacation soon, and could meet at least a few thousand of minimum spend on a new card with that. Oh, and my 2 DDs are both AUs on my BOA card and my CSP (Usually using the CSP, but the BOA is a backup for them for situations like occurred earlier this week, when my CSP got hacked & cards had to be cancelled.)

Does it make sense to cancel my 2 Chase SW cards, wait 30 days & then apply for a new one for a new bonus? Apply for another AmEx? I am not wed to any particular hotel chain. For domestic flights I tend to use SW, because I've had the points and because I like the lack of baggage fees, but I am also planning more international travel in the next few years, so will be using other airlines.

Many thanks in advance for any suggestions!

Thank you for the responses. I've never done the PYB yet. Have to get myself up to speed. Need to decide if I want to go OOP. Totally on the fence here. The prices are ridiculous for economy even. I'm not wanting a mini van.

Has anyone ever done the method of buying the cheapest ticket on UT and then getting a better rate on a car?

Has it been 24 months since you received the SW bonus? If so, I would cancel now but hold off on applying until a better SUB comes along, hopefully soon.
I would keep your Chase Slate, no point in closing a card that doesn’t have an AF that you’ve have for 5 years. And yes, keep the BOA card open.
Another good all-around card is the Freedom cards. it doesn’t appear you are interested in Biz cards?
