Awesome thank you, I will check it out!

Another newbie question.. if we use the method above for SW RR would we not want to add the other spouse as an authorized user when setting up the cards? Would that affect sending a support link to a spouse or qualifying for the SUB?

Any reason not to add a spouse on a Chase Sapphire Preferred card?
Just to echo what @Psychodisney said... you DO NOT want to add your P2 as an authorized user to any personal card (whether it be Chase, Amex, or any issuer). The only time you'll see us discussing adding a card is on Business cards where it's actually an employee card. And since Chase/Amex and some other issuers do not report any business card activity (whether for the primary or additiona cards) on a personal credit report, it's safe to do that!

One more question.. 😂

SW RR Plus requires you to spend 2k in the first 3 months and 10k in the first 9 months to get the SUB.

Is that cumulative? Ie- does the first 2k you spend count towards the 10k in 9 months or is that 10k additional after spending 2k in 3 months first?

Good question - it's cumulative! So $10k total will get you the additional tier bonus. IF you're looking at that card, please consider joining DISchurners to pay it forward to a DISer via the support links page. :D You're asking great questions so far!

I’ve got a SW CC question too....I’ve currently got the personal Priority card. I’m sure I’ll apply for it again next time I want to try for a CP. Does the card need to be closed for a certain amount of time before I can apply for it again? Or do I just have to wait a certain amount of time after getting my original SUB?

(FYI - my year anniversary is coming up, and I was planning to just cancel it, but I’ve read recent reports of Chase waiving the fee. If they’ll waive the fee, I’ll definitely keep it, but don’t want to mess up getting the same card and another CP when the times comes.)

The current advice is to wait 31 days to reapply. This is due to some DPs we've seen on Chase denying people for attempting within 30 days. This is a fairly new thing...but the DPs thus far seem conclusive.

That makes perfect sense. Thanks for being so clear. My husband actually did start a consulting business last year. He is in online marketing so he doesn’t really spend anything on it. I’m not sure he would hit the SUB with his spend. I’m a SAHM who is paid in sticky doorknobs and dirty socks so I’m out for that. 🤣

We have an AMEX Blue Cash Everyday. The grocery and gas points are good on that but I can’t use it at Costco where I do a lot of my shopping. I believe I could use a Chase Sapphire there because it’s Visa?

We would easily charge 1000-1500$/mo just in groceries, gas, dining, etc. Some months we’d spend significantly more. We’re planning a WDW trip for April so that will be 5000ish more we would spend that month.

After a little more research last night I’m thinking maybe we sign up for a Chase Sapphire Preferred (mostly for the SUB and possibly downgrade after a year depending on how much we use it). And also sign one of us up for SW RR card for the 80k points (over 9 months). Maybe stagger those cards by a couple months to make sure we hit the spend for each SUB.

Does that sound like a reasonable plan?

I remembered we also have a Disney CC, which I believe is Chase. Does that make a difference to any of this?

This really is the nicest corner of the DIS. Thanks for your help!
You can get a biz card as a sahm. Use your spouses income. If you have sold kids clothes or items you could use that as your business. I pay our Mortage through plastiq. If I’m not going to hit the spend. The fees are nothing compared to the bonus.

My understanding is if you accept the offer to have the AF waived they expect you to keep the card another year. I’m sure @SouthFayetteFan can answer

Booked the Conrad Osaka for our Japan trip. I've been stalking it lol. Thought we would need 2 rooms since the website shows that it fits 3. Decided to e-mail the hotel to see if they would allow 2 adults and 2 kids. Just heard back and they do! So happy to be saving the points!

I stayed there Fall of 2019 and it was amazing. I have Diamond status so we were upgraded to the concierge level. It's amazing! The lobby is two stories and overlooks the city. The lounge serves really good food!

If I am looking to book Qantas flights for 12/17/21, when will they open? I have almost 500k points that will expire in June which is ridiculous since we can’t even travel there.

Will contribute that a close friend who I trust about hotels stayed at the Conrad in Tokyo and said it was amazing, plus the Conrad in Osaka which they liked a lot. Also Diamond/Aspire ccard people and they thought it was well worth the points they used for them both.

Any of the Hilton Cards would be great for the SUB. But I would look at the aspire. Even though it has a $450 annual fee, you get $250 resort credit (roughly ~50% of Hilton’s are resorts) which can be used for room credit, $250 for AMEX flight travel credit, and you get 1 free night per year. If you can only use 2 of the 3, you break even. If you use all 3, you make 300 per year. Plus it comes with 150k SUB.

I might be crazy, but I have 3 aspires and use all the rewards every year. Which is a nice perk every year.

What all can you use the room credit for? Is it for food or activities while you're at the resort?

You can use for room costs + taxes, restaurants, spas, or anything else you can bill to your room

Thanks! So I guess you could get the majority of another night (at some resorts maybe) with the $250 credit. Definitely something to think about.

I stayed at the Conrad in Tokyo too. Also so amazing and so worth the points. I'll post photos if I can figure out how to add photos on here.

Last week the Steelers... now this week, my man Drew Brees??? This is terrible! I love Drew, I hope he isn't done, but if he is, he seems very content. I've loved him since he went to New Orleans after Katrina, what a great person he's been for that city!

Yes, it is hard when you are so close!
Been keeping a close eye on the CIC to see if any of the purchases moved from "pending" to "posted".... and now the one that would have put me over the edge is nowhere to be found after sitting in "pending" for the last four days! Ugh.

Is that weird? I've never kept such a close eye on it before so perhaps it's normal for it to disappear for a day as it moves between the two areas?
That’s usually a good sign when they go MIA in my experience. It should be showing up on the posted side soon.
I’ve seen that and the charge posted the next day...hopefully yours does too

So, my statement closed on the 17th, so last night (the spend had to be met "by" 1/18 so presumably by the time the statement closed). There were three other smaller charges that had been sitting in Pending that finally moved to Posted.. but the one transaction I was waiting for (from Sam's Club) is still MIA.

So so weird.
