good to know. I did layers, have short, long sleeved packed, with hoodies and fleece and rain jacket. I plan to use my cc for most everything. how much cash do you suggest? where did you change it? there's only 2 of us for 8 days
thanks

we have puffin tour first day, end of season and blue lagoon. and horseback riding. eveyrthing else play by ear

you can actually get by with zero cash, every place takes apple Pay and cards. I took out 30,000 krona at the airport (roughly $30) just so I could pay for a few small things and get some change back. We have a bowl where we have coins from every country we’ve visited. The exchange rate is much better using a card with no foreign transaction fee.

Thanks for the clothing info- I did have DH pull some heavier gear, so the confirmation is just what I needed.

The only time I’ve seen the Northern Lights is from a cockpit!! That’s a great pic- really vivid colors. You’re so lucky!! We knew it wasn’t the season when we booked it, but we will bridge the very start of the NL season, so I will remain optimistic!

Did you get to see the eruption site? Anything else you’d recommend as MUST DO?

We did hike to the eruption site but the day we went all we saw was smoke and steamy lava, not the red hot lava flowing. It did flow the day before and after we went of course. We almost went back our last night but we were exhausted and it was an hour drive plus a 2 hour hike each way.

Must do? Hmmmm, everything we did was so cool and so different from anything we’ve seen before. We loved blue lagoon, seeing all the waterfalls up close, the good food, the black sand beach. Rok is a very good, but pricey restaurant, reservations are needed. In fact, I was surprised how many places did require reservations in Reykjavik.

eta: you may be in luck and catch a glimpse of the northern lights, someone on the Travel Iceland FB page posted a photo where you can kind of see them. Said they haven't seen them this early before.

For anyone going, I recommend joining that group on FB, lots of helpful tips, beautiful photos and very nice people. On our last night we discovered my daughter left her purse in a pub in Vik 2 days earlier which was 2.5 hours away. I had her passport so we weren't driving back for it, I immediately locked her debit and credit cards. Posted on that page and another kind traveler picked it up the next day and is sending it back to us! Her Driver's License was in there so now she won't have to go through the hassle of having it replaced.

I would think after the free trial period it will just stop working. I love my Sirius, mostly use the app now that I don't drive as much, but I think it will just stop working as that's what happens when they have their free trial periods (usually around holidays).

Also as a PSA to others - don't ever pay the rack rate they want for you to renew. It's a game with them to see how many people will over pay. There is usually a thread on the boards about what the going rate is.
it's about $5 a month right now FYI you just have to find the offers...pretty easy. (I like running it thru the Alexa in my house too)

For those with Sirius or that got a car with the trial. I got an email from Ford so I can provide my info to Sirius for the free trial. I didn't want the free trial, I don't plan on using it or keeping it. Can I just ignore the email? I figure if they don't have my info they'll just shut it off at the end of the trial or when I don't comply with info.

I guess Subaru didn’t ask me. I just received an email from Sirius about a week after I got the car telling me when my free trial expired. I already got snail mail from them also offering a “free” ($2 processing) 3month extension. I just plan on ignoring. I use my Spotify through Apple Play.

For what it's worth, as my oldest was turning 18, I remember saying, "hey, this will probably be your last trip to Disney with us, hey?" [You know bc I'm from Wisconsin and that's how we talk, ey] One of the things I was the most sad about them getting older was that all six of us wouldn't travel together anymore. Well, it just never happened! Our oldest is 23 and the next is 20 and they still want to go on MOST of the trips. We never assume automatically that they'll come and the oldest always has to check his school schedule, but they do come on most trips.

In the last six months we started inviting the long-time BF and GF on SOME trips (not all) too, so I think that will keep them along for the ride for years to come. But I think the less pressure they feel from us as parents, the more likely they'll come.
Our kids still like to travel with us too! We have a Disney trip planned in January with DS 27 and his new wife, DS25 and his fiance, and DD22. Our last family trip was Aruba. DVC definitely contributed to the enjoyment of family vacations by not having to squeeze into a hotel room!

We got back from wdw this morning. Overall the boardwalk is beautiful and I enjoyed our stay but it’s not the most toddler friendly resort. We knew that going in so we probably won’t stay there again anytime soon. The walk to Epcot was great and we did eat over at the dolphin for lunch once. I thought Epcot was great. We didn’t get in until 4:30 pm or so and crowds weren’t terrible. We walked on figment, living with the land, and Nemo. Decided to skip spaceship earth since it’s a long one and frozen was a constant 45 min wait. We basically did everything we wanted so I changed our September epcot day to mk.

I never thought 2 nights would be a long enough stay but with a toddler it was plenty 😆 We were all ready to get back home in our own beds with normal food today. Our September stay is in an AoA suite so that’ll be interesting! Nothing beats the quiet at the cabins though. We were definitely missing that. We had some noisy neighbors late last night

Ugh. Trying to transfer my Hyatt points to DH's account. First time I did it, was so easy and fast. This time, the phone number I put on the form didn't match his account info. Oops, forgot what phone number I used. So I went and changed it online. Just hear back (3 days later) and now they're saying the signatures are illegible. Can I resend with legible signatures. Okay. I can do that. But it won't really be our signatures!

Good thing I don't need those points in a hurry!
I did this once and had the same problems. Now i just call and have them do it. Last time I called it only
took them a couple minutes.

What a lovely picture of your family. I'm glad you posted your thoughts on your recent stay. Glad you
had a good time. Your son is cutie!

That's great! I didn't know you can call, I thought the signed form was required to transfer. Does the person receiving the points need to be on the call? Thanks!

No I didn't know either I had called about something else and asked about transferring points. She said let
me do it for you and it was instant. I have done it at least 3 times since then by calling. I just gave the
number to transfer acct to.

The one time i filled out the form it was a mess. lol

Awesome! :thanks:

@ten6mom, I don't remember exactly where you are in Arizona. Any familiarity with Tucson? Wondering if I need a great pool in March or not. Planning to visit Saguaro NP and some other sites in southern Arizona next March. I am not sure how warm March (first week) is and if a nice pool would be a necessity or it is not really warm enough to want to use.
