Can you book the Fine Hotel and Resorts with Amex Gold or is that a Platnium thing?
Thinking of booking a resort for April but will most like switch my Platnium back to a gold when the annual fee hits in Nov.

FHR is a Platinum (personal and biz) and Centurion program. The $200 credit is only on the personal plat.

As far as I can tell, the requirement is that you have to book with your plat, but can pay at the hotel with any Amex. I used my plat credits, but likely won't have the cards anymore by my stay. I don't know for sure, but I think it'll be fine. I posted this before:

heh, once u let your trial expire, be prepared to get hounded to resubcribe. i have so many emails from them trying to get me to join again. i didnt find it useful as i run most of my music through bluetooth via Spotify.

I would think after the free trial period it will just stop working. I love my Sirius, mostly use the app now that I don't drive as much, but I think it will just stop working as that's what happens when they have their free trial periods (usually around holidays).

Also as a PSA to others - don't ever pay the rack rate they want for you to renew. It's a game with them to see how many people will over pay. There is usually a thread on the boards about what the going rate is.

I ignored it completely. Kept getting letters and emails for quite a long time. But then they stopped bothering me. I bought my car used in 2019, but got the 'free' 90 day trial. And, it appeared to me, if you decide you want to you can start the trial just about anytime. I could probably live without a radio in the car quite easily.

@Judique, we did sunset kayaking at Chincoteague. The location was gorgeous but a huge disappointment that we didn't see any ponies (or dolphins or the bald eagle) especially for the cost for 6. We kayak quite a bit here in Florida and it was a flat, safe trip so if anyone would ever want to replicate, I recommend renting kayaks and doing it on your own. The guide, native to the area, said that the ponies were hiding because the auction had just finished and they were reacclimating. We had a hard time for dinner since the tour ended near 8:30 and most places closed at 9 and didn't want to seat 6 people so late. We did notice the lines for ice cream at various places were around the block and the only explanation we could come up with was that these were generational places people had gone to since they were kids and there wasn't much else to do after 9pm.

I've only seen the Chincoteague band of horses from a distance. But I was hopeful that you would have a better experience with the tour.

But, on Assateague (near Ocean City end) I've been close enough for them to try kicking my car. My friend did get her car kicked. When they are on the road you really have little control if they start walking towards you.

I hope you were able to find some kind of dinner. I'm older and more tuned to looking for food from 4:30 on <grin>.

I had a free trial offer, never did anything. Didn't sign up or give them my info or activate anything. I bought my car last fall and still getting mail once or twice a month reminding me to sign up. Don't recall getting emails, but I didn't give them one (or spam filter works) Hopefully the letters stop when I move.

Disney with an active toddler is no joke. We only have 2 nights here and that’s plenty for me lol. He’s so headstrong and determined to do what he wants. We’re staying at the boardwalk and their playground is in the pool area so not open until 10 . When you have a toddler up at 5:30 am you need a playground early in the morning. We’re hoping to swim today and maybe pop into Epcot. I love the boardwalk studio! The small area by the main door is great for a stroller. We ended up sticking ds’s pack n play in the little sink area because it’s the darkest part of the room and it seems to be working pretty well

We just got back from Iceland last night (we flew United) so let me know if you have any specific questions! I will say, we didn't need all the warm clothing we were told to pack, we packed hats, gloves, coats, but a fleece and a windbreaker would have been enough and that was only a few times. We had perfectly warm weather and actually bought a few t shirts because we didn't pack anything short sleeved! So, pack less clothing and more money lol, it is EXPENSIVE there! But soooooo beautiful!!

You will not see the Northern Lights in Iceland this time of year, BUT we got lucky and saw them from the plane somewhere over Newfoundland! Amazing to see! We did see lots of puffins on the black sand beach.

Thanks for the clothing info- I did have DH pull some heavier gear, so the confirmation is just what I needed.

The only time I’ve seen the Northern Lights is from a cockpit!! That’s a great pic- really vivid colors. You’re so lucky!! We knew it wasn’t the season when we booked it, but we will bridge the very start of the NL season, so I will remain optimistic!

Did you get to see the eruption site? Anything else you’d recommend as MUST DO?

Packed for our Iceland trip and used packing cubes for the first time. I am in LOVE! Not only does it compress the clothing, but it will be nice to keep my kids clothes more organized, as we change accomodations every couple of days.

My hubby prefers to roll his clothing. He even watches youtube videos and unrolls and rerolls numerous times

We bought some cheapo luggage for this trip because I read that IcelandAir is strict with their carry-on luggage requirement and their requirement is the smallest I have EVER seen (a depth of less than 8 inches!)! Really proud of myself for getting everything in rather easily, including hiking boots and 3 rain jackets, and it only weighs about 13 pounds. I am now a packing cube convert!

I also just packed for Iceland! better check my carry on dimensions!

it's just Dh and I, renting a car, different hotel each night. I did 4 nights in each suitcase in cubes with winterwear.

good to know. I did layers, have short, long sleeved packed, with hoodies and fleece and rain jacket. I plan to use my cc for most everything. how much cash do you suggest? where did you change it? there's only 2 of us for 8 days
