Just got this email. AMEX trying to get all my attention today. 😆

I was wondering why I was able to pull up this offer yesterday morning. It was a little confusing so I wondered if they were going to come out with a 100k mr offer. Nice. Even more tempting, so I will probably try it. Here’s hoping that those of us that go for this don’t get the popup.

So if i'm reading right, the 100,000 offer has 25,000 more UR points, but does not include the $300 grocery? So, if you were going to use the points for gift cards, technically the first offer would be better if you could max out the dining and get the $300 from that?

I was thinking the $300 credit might be better, but at the rate we have been eating out lately it might take me all year to use up that credit. You would have to spend $1500 to get the full $300 credit, correct?

Also, if I were to get the card now would I get the $20 streaming and phone credits for November and December still? So potentially $80 credit there. Or did you already have to have the card to be eligible for those credits?

.
If you eat takeout from a lot of places as we do, you can buy gift cards to help get up to the $1500 in spend. In 2018 the Gold card had a similar offer - 20% back from $500 spend. I picked up some Panera gift cards - spend 50 get 10 bonus, in addition to Cheesecake Factory - buy gift card - get free slices. So this is a great time to do the 75K/$300 statement credit. It doesn't have to be those two restaurants - there are many out there that will offer xmas extras.

Since it's a 6 month spend period that also increases the appeal. But I also got a pop up on a Hilton card, so I'm slightly gun shy. I still have my gold card but not ready to have both. Gold card annual fee will be popping on soon. If my request for an incentive is not met, I may let it go. We will see.

Another thought on the Platinum card...

I would love to have it if I decide to do a Europe trip. Or even cross country so that I could use the lounge credits. At the moment, not going anywhere, but that may change. Don't love flying but if I decide to go over water, flying it will be.

So, it may be too early for me to app for this card. Might be better timed to wait for a point where I will use some of it's strong perks. I can't see myself keeping this card forever, so it will probably be a 1-2 year cycle. So my best maximizing strategy will be using it for travel with the Saks credits, etc as a nice add on.

You should qualify for the $20 streaming and phone credits. It appears somewhat difficult to use the phone credits if you have Verizon though. I can say with TMobile there is no problem at all.

Welp, I just moved my WDW trip again. This time I pushed it back to June. I went from 60 days exactly today to more than 200.

Guess I need to update my tracker. Here's hoping that vaccine comes through!

Also, Starbucks happy hour BOGO today from 2p-7p ET!

I believe the $300 back is on dining out, not groceries. 20% back, so $1500 spend at restaurants to get the full $300 back.

I feel you! We were supposed to be there this week but I cancelled it more than 60 days ago. Next trip is February 28-March 9. Fingers crossed we will go!

Spent my morning on the phone with electric, gas, and water utilities setting up accounts for our new home. Was on hold over an hour with Washington gas before I got to speak to a person! Looks like I can choose my natural gas supplier in VA like I do in PA, but it will be about twice as much as it costs here in the land of fracking and cheap gas!

Oh, and Nov 19 is World Toilet Day apparently, according to the sewer website.

Just cancelled my Dec trip a few days ago. I booked the December OI meetup at Universal back in May when I had to cancel that trip, never thought I would still not want to travel now! I too have Feb booked, who knows?

Using the points for gift cards (at 1 cent per point) - the 75k offers is worth $50 more. But you have to do the $1500 restaurant spend at 1x MR (worth $15 for GC). So then it depends on what other cards you have that has elevated restaurant. If you have a CSR, the $1500 spend would be worth $67.50 (3x at 1.5 ccp). So then it kind of becomes a wash.

Cashing out with Schwab at 1.25 ccp - the 100k is definitely better. Worth $12.50 more and no need to do the restaurant spend.

WAHHHHH! So MS might be down w/ walmart. UGH! I have $600 to liquidate somehow. I tried yesterday and got errors. I guess I'll try my normal one today. And if not, I guess I'm off to find a FD. We don't have a ton of those. I live in the land of no dollar stores, LOL. I guess that happens when the houses around you are $1mill+....note NOT MY HOUSE, LOL. I joke we live in the ghetto (Pulte house built in 1979).

I guess I'm glad I didn't buy a ton of VGCs. My staples has been out of them every promo. So it's been harder and harder to land them.

I use mine for Verizon. I use my CIP for my bill usually but I prepay $25 with the Platinum. I don't do the debit or checking account discount because I value the URs more than $10.

I had the same issues at the WM money center, but went back to the same WM and did $200 at the register and it worked.

Hopefully the milder climate will offset the rate increase.

Did a retention chat for my biz plat. They beat around the bush a bit! Asked me what expenses for my business I use the card for. First offered 5k no spend plus 15k for 10k spend. I asked if there were any other offers on my account. Then was offered 30k no spend. Plus additional 50k with $40k spend in 3 months (lol). Also have an e-mail for $200 appreciation credit on renewal (I think everyone is getting that for the biz plat). With my Schwab ($375 cashout), effective AF is $20 - so I kept it!

I can change, but not for free. I only received a "your change is confirmed" email this morning with no options, just the confirmation.
I put off contacting them yesterday, spent the day doing house stuff with my veteran (eventually my powder room will be completed). Today I checked and I have free change window. Got my flight changed and still have full control of it.

Well I'm off to my normal Walmart right now. Fingers crossed this one works! I am also only $1k away on the spend to hit the FNC for my Hilton card. I just had to book a hotel for next weekend for a meeting....they chose a Hilton, and cost was $969! So I think I might get lucky and hit it without having to buy anymore VGC! Now just meeting the $1k on the Biz Aviator and the $5k on the Marriot. I'm debating paying hockey w/ the Marriott to help meet that spend, LOL. We pay via paypal so I'd have to eat the fee. I need to change over soccer as that will be $725.
