Fair warning - Totally Off Topic - but I had to share after it made me think of my fellow spider-phobe CC peeps here!

Some may recall from a ways back that I live in Spider Mecca basically. As a bit of an arachnophobe it's been kinda good as an immersive therapy so that I can tolerate some now but it's definitely not a cure! So you know, still kinda sucks  But I have all kinds of spiders, little tiny ones, great big ones, pick a color I probably have them all. I even have the Halloween spiders - as I call them - those ones that look like a decoration drawings with the big back end and long V shaped legs. One of those set up a web outside my bedroom window for a couple days. That was fun to see when you wake up in the morning.

So I'm just used to it. Unless one is in my immediate vicinity I kinda try to ignore it. I watched a small one crawl across the hood of my car as I'm doing 50 mph on the highway. As long as it stays out there and I don't think about it getting inside the car, I've been ok.

The other day I was getting gas and I had to use the full service pump to redeem my fuel rewards (well, I guess kinda on-topic adjacent). As the kid was pumping he kept staring at my car. At one point he got kinda close to it looking at something. Thought maybe he was checking out his reflection or something. :confused3Then he kinda gingerly removes the nozzle at the end and says, "Ahh... you got a lot of spiders on your car... ah... lemme get this one for you..." and he stepped over to grab a paper towel and bats away one that was crawling around the gas cap.

I almost busted out laughing at how absurd this must look to anyone else! I was so caught off guard I could only say "Yeah I know, Sorry!"
As I was telling it to hubby, he came back with "I hope you said 'Yep! Getting ready for Halloween. How'd we do?' "

That's my life, Halloween Town, all year round.

I dislike spiders and have noticed a lot of them lately. Just took my recycles and trash to the curb for tomorrow's pickup. It's dark out there and I walked into a small one. Came in and went to a well lit area to make sure I wasn't wearing one.....almost bed time so got into a robe, to make sure non were on my clothing.

Years ago I was driving to Disney and one crawled out onto my windshield from around the molding. Then it crawled back in. I got off the road and conducted a spider hunt, shoving pieces of paper into the crevice until the thing eventually came out. Then after I started driving again, I started feeling as if one was crawling on my leg - looking down couldn't see anything. It took a bit to get my mind off the spider that trip.

I have regular pest control as I have pets and I don't like pests. They do the exterior perimeter of my house, but not inside unless I've seen something such as ants last spring. The guy was just here Monday, and I've got spider webs attached to my gate a foot away from my house today. I guess if the stuff is on the ground they are safe in the air. Ugh.

Fall is spider season. Their webs are all over the place out here, even with the pest control we get them building off the house and stuff. They stay outside though and don't bother anything. I don't seem to go a few days without someone posting a picture of a web on facebook or twitter though, especially with all the wet mornings we've had lately. I imagine with all the wind we had the past couple of days they have been busy rebuilding. The one near our front door (we don't use the door) is gone, it'd already been rebuilt once so no idea if it moved or if it's dead. We don't bother them outside, but inside we do and I prefer they stay out of my car.

My daughter also hates spiders.....when she was a senior in high school driving home she actually ran over a small sign pole trying to get one out of her car...she was fine but it pierced the transmission...not fun at the time but 12 years later we can laugh about it

Great new Amex Bonvoy offers. Debating if I should get the Brilliant for both me and DH (we both already have the biz). Have to consider timing with 5/24 and the 4 Amex credit cards max. Also how to use the $300 Bonvoy credit if we have 2. Lots to think about. 🙂

Oh wow! Those are amazing offers. I’m without MS, I think I’m going to try the Biz, but first I need to figure out if I can get the bonus for the Biz and later the Brilliant SUB.

I was able to switch my Tokyo hotel to the Tokyo Station Hotel just now. Randomly checked to see if it had opened up.

Quoting myself to say this is why we shouldn't always compare price per point. I looked up the cash price for the room I booked at Tokyo Station and it was around 480, 100 or so less per night than the Grand Hyatt I switched from. I wasn't expecting it to be less, let alone that much less, considering it's the same category, a great location and a smaller property. Now the Grand could go down in price but that's quite a change for my 100k in points. I still absolutely think it's worth it due to the location and uniqueness of the property but it still took a little wind out of my sails, and it shouldn't.

Hey all, new to this thread, don’t need advice, but always enjoy learning more about free points and rewards. I have a Delta Amex and Disney Chase card. Don’t have many points on the Disney card yet, but we’re flying to Orlando on our free points in January. I also got points by signing up my wife, she got triple the points When she signed up than I got when I signed up. She’s wanting to use those points for a Hawaii trip sometime soon.

Yeah, we've had some car damage too! Had to replace the fender on hubby's last car after one dropped down from the ceiling and landed inside his glasses while he was driving. (You know, millimeters from his eye :scared1:) He did so good at not immediately freaking out and trying to safely get to the side of the road to deal with it, that he avoided all cars but at the last moment of braking still bumped the guard rail. Can only imagine the freak out that ensued followed by how pissed that he bumped the rail. Fortunately it turned out to be a relatively cheap repair, but it sucked since we just listed it for sale and only needed to get a few more weeks out of it. Hubby said the spiders must have heard and took revenge for selling their home!

My CIP AF hit. Any advice as to what to do with it? CIU? CIC? I think DH has both but I don't really want to get rid of my only biz card.

Thought I'd already see this, from DoC, though he got it from TPG.

American Express Gold Card To Lose $100 Airline Credit Starting In 2022

No word on what will replace it. Would be nice if it was something we could actually use. I still have both my plat and gold credits that I need to figure out with either DL or AS as that's who I fly.

I downgraded mine to a CIC (5x at Staples/Office (Disney GCs), ship, net, TV, phone). The CIU has 1.5x on every purchase. @SouthFayetteFan urged us to consider keeping Biz cards on hand (at least through this COVID-apparent tightening) in case we ever wanted to upgrade later.

You can get both the Biz and the Brilliant (basically going down the Amex track). You can't get any of the Chase Bonvoy cards for 24 months.

If you eventually want both cards, but can only do 1 before the offers expire, I'd argue for the Brilliant. Assuming you have no use for the Biz advertising credit. The 100k offer for both comes around every so often (at least once a year?). The 25k on first anniversary for the Brilliant makes it the best ever.

And.... where do you live, so that I can stay far, far away from that place and never go there?????

Spiders and insects are my absolute biggest phobias.

Slightly curious about the Tokyo Bay Hilton though because it's still only bookable through July 27 and while I can't imagine they would take the entire thing down for a renovation I do wonder what's going on. I can book other Hilton stuff in the area, but this one and another show as sold out when you put dates in on the app, unavailable when you put dates in on the website and searching by their calendar shows no 4 nights available. Guess if I had to I could switch to a Hilton in Tokyo and stay further out at the Hyatt at TDLR but I'd rather stay at Tokyo Station now that I have it, the location is too good for what my plans appear to be shaping up to.
The Hilton Tokyo bay showed that way when we were planning our trip too. They just released rooms later than the other hotels nearby. Freaked us out though when we saw they were sold out

In PA just outside Philly, in the land of trees and rocks and apparently everything else spiders and other creepy crawlies like!

But I thought you were in AZ? Land of spiders, centipedes, scorpions, and a whole host of others I probably don't want to know about

I guess if you or I move we need to go for wide open plains where we might stand a chance. Maybe? :scratchin

We get spiders and mice coming in our house this time of year too with the weather getting chilly now. Had our first very light frost this morning. Never had a spider cause a car accident though! Just deer. I’ve had family members see a deer, come to a complete stop in the road, and that deer STILL runs right into the side of the car as it’s stopped. Crazy creatures.

love all the puppy talk....I LOVE other people getting puppies:rotfl2: I got to go on a nice hike last week with a friend and their cute lil' rescue puppy... that was fun. Then I came home to my 2 cats and sighed happily:rotfl:(altho my 6 month old kitten is nutso crazy anyway)

I PC'd mine to a CIC,but I have an upcoming AF on another that I'll be PC'ing to a CiU (I guess bc I already have the other one?)
