That brings back memories. I haven't had sausage stuffing in years. My mom used to make it, not necessarily for Thanksgiving, but it was a special treat when she did make it for sure. Is her recipe secret or overly difficult? Thanks for the wonderful memory either way.I'm fine with either one - I wouldn't say they're my favorite side dish (my wife's sausage stuffing wins that prize), but it's always a solid staple.
I've made them both ways - usually, when making a smaller amount, like for a nightly dinner, I'll mash the potatoes with a fork (I keep meaning to buy a potato ricer as well as a masher). But for a larger gathering, like tomorrow, I usually will use the hand mixer.
